Congo Tetras Are Egg Scattering Spawners

My Congo Tetras are spawning in my 125 gallon planted tank. These freshwater fish are great community fish, but need a larger tank since they get pretty big for Tetras. I also have a Ctenopoma Acutirostre, Synodontis Eupterus, Clown Loaches, a Snakeskin gourami, and others, so the eggs get eaten pretty quickly.

Amazing colours on display from your Congos Dan. Always a good sign. I always thought that If your water is pretty good. Your fish will spawn as often as possible.

He's a little bigger, but the tank has rainbowfish and a tilapia in there with him.

Seperate a pair into a 10 and put in some java moss or a couple of spawning mops, you will get babies, the fry are small and will hang on the glass for a few days, no chance of survival in a community tank.

Mine spawn a lot. But they're in the tank with 5 banded barbs and yoyos. No eggs for me!

They look great dan and have some nice colours to them ..... doesn't surprise me that the eggs don't last in here 😂

It's not surprising that the eggs didn't last even in the substrate with the elephant nose but maybe now that he's gone one might make it for a day or two lol

Congo tetras will need at least a 40 breeder or 55 gallon when full grown. They get about 5 inches.

I bought 5 and turned out to be 4 males / 1 female. So I went back and got two more and they luckily turned out to be female, so 4 males / 3 females.
