Congo males love to race back and forth in a tank and this display is AMAZING to watch, a 30 would not do them justice at all.. at least a 55.. I guess if you only had one male or two females in the 30, but two males need room. .. Glad you said the teeth thing, they are plant nippers! but My plants grow like crazy and I am willing to live with all my anubias being nibbled on as I, like you, love this FISH! Great tank by the way..
I just got my first 3 today. 3 was all the LFS had. I plan to get only 2 more because this will complete the stock of the tank. Great video and information. Thank you.

So... I saw these for the first time about a month ago at a local mom and pop type fish store. They were $10.50 each. They had males and they were mature. I wanted them but didn't really have room for them. The other day I go into PetSmart and they had 5 of them, juveniles and they were only $3 each! So, now I am a very proud owner. I made room for them in my 36-gallon bowfront, but might have to put them in my 55 someday, if I can find a way to make room for them. It's a bit early to determine sex, but I might have 4 males and one female it looks like.
They are beautiful.I have a 46gal tank with 4 sterba tetras, 3 black neon, and 1 male torquiose rainbow can I add a congo tetra how many can I add and will he get along with the rainbow?
Awesome, they will get along fine with the rainbow, they are peaceful fish. You got a lot of room in that tank, I would go with 3 in there possibly 4 but thats as many as I would add.
You should know fairly quickly when the mature because the males fins will start to grow long and the colors will come quick where as the females pretty much stay more dull in color like in my video so you will definitely know when they are mature and what sex they are.
A must have, living V happy with small black tetras, all go wild for sushi grade ;) blood worm(frozen to 30 below to kill pathogens parasites They also like fast water staying in it always, all that exercise = big meat eaters,but makes 4 more water changes. The best
Yes they are classified as a "semi aggressive" species that can live with larger fish but are also peaceful towards other fish as well. They dont cause trouble.

Yah your right about the tank size, they do get fairly large and yes they do eat plants!
