Your Congo tetras are among the best I've seen in a while, now. Thanks to mass production in the Far East e.g. Malaysian fish farms Congo tetras today are getting duller & their finnage, less flambuoyant. A far cry from their wild counterparts.
I remember back in the early 90's, when I met a master breeder who reared *wild* Congo tetras. OMG! His broodstock was stunning! The orange & blues were vivid iridescent & clearly defined. Whilst the finnage on the males were spectacular! Beautiful sickle-shaped dorsal fin which curled elegantly & caudal extension that trailed on like a comet tail.
He said the fish are common in Pool Malebo where they are found in dark, murky & swift currents. By the literal thousands! So, yes Congo tetras fare better in a blackwater tank with fairly subdued light plus stronger currents. Cheers!

This is such an underrated fish. I'm kind of glad for that.
I'd like to see a breeding video. I have 15 CT in a 40 Long (48" US) with 9 corydorus, and huge GloShark. I'm planning to move them to a 125 gallon. I'll need more fish so I need that breeding video 🤣

Is it they get hunt down, or just when they in eyesight? I have lots of wood and leaves on the sandbed, so they could hide. After all i breed shrimp to feed but, it would be nice if they get established some how
