    Just found your channel while searching on how to protect emerald cory eggs laid yesterday. I can’t move them, so I’m trying to give them a fighting chance when they hatch in 3-5 days. Thank you for all of the information here that I am using to come up with a plan. Our nation is at a standstill over Coronavirus so I have to just use what I have at home today. I made two spawning mops out of acrylic yarn. Attached the longer one to the glass with a tiny suction cup that hides eggs from the hungry tanks mates as they wait to hatch. I put some dried catappa leaves in water and tucked one in near eggs for its antibacterial property. Attached a fishing anchor to the short mop and dropped it immediately under the eggs against the glass where they will hopefully drop to before they find a better place to hide. Fingers crossed that I have sweet baby corys next week. Thanks for the great video and commenters.

    Gotta say it - this was fantastic! I absolutely loved how you narrated this. You are very thorough - this shows that you really did your homework on not only the fish, but making this video too! It did not dawn on me to add water like you were doing, with the back and forth movement as the water flowed into the tank. I will be trying that! Great ideas and awesome info. This was extremely helpful! Thank you :)

    Hi...I am now researching my Panda Cory's...I have something FUN to mention today...I have two tanks...one 65g tall and one 75g long...I purchased 2 Pandy C's a little over a year ago and just love them...Yesterday, I was adding some water and fed them...I saw two Panda C's on the bottom feeding and thought to myself..."I don't remember them being THAT SMALL!"...then I saw 3...4...and thought, well, maybe I bought 4 and don't remember...then 5, 6, 7, 8...15...and in two different sizes...some are almost an inch long and the others almost as big as their parents! I HAD NO IDEA the original two were a pair...and have NEVER had any egg bearers hatch anything...I do have a pair of Angel fish in this aquarium... You can only imagine how surprised I was...and what's worse is, I will pull up a chair and watch the fish a lot...and didn't notice the little ones...unless they are just not coming out...I have done nothing to my aquarium that houses these little guys...I dearly love 'em and if anything was to hatch, I am so happy it's these little guys...I would guess I have 2 different groups that have hatched...Anyway, just thought I'd share this FUN...

    Same story here . Just noticed them after holidays. Saw many eggs before and try to move them to other tanks . I’ve learned that fish pref to be left alone . More you get involved more stress come with it . I got loads plants and hiding places but i also have 3 kuhli loaches and i guess they will look for eggs . Anyways happy to see they breed and survive . Just pity this 2 females vs 4 males as they being chased all the time

    Been enjoying your Cory videos.
    Our Corys are prolific eaters. Started spawning non-stop 2 weeks after purchase.
    They have grown rapidly.
    Big Momma eats heartily. We feed them all lots of food, 4 x a day. The water stays clear with excellent water parameters. We use fresh rainwater each week for top ups & partial water changes. It is a heavily planted tank. Our Corys spawn on large floating Blue Stricta leaves , rooted Aluminum plant leaves & the glass.👍 Thanks for the blue green algae moss idea . We grow on the micro water plants from water changes outdoors so we are good to go.
    We had several fry hatch and die today in a large glass breeder vase set up within the tank . Set up like yours. The only thing I can think of is any mouldy eggs could have poisoned them? Water parameters were all good.

    I have breeding emerald greens. Imitating the rainy season is the best trigger for me. I change heater in tank from 78 to 72-73 and do a larger water change with even colder water. Slowly change temp one degree every day or so untill back to 78. Repeat. I have 12 adults in the tank. Get at least one female to lay eggs every time. Eggs are often layed directly on my jungle Val. I cut off the leaves and place them in a hanging breeding box in the same tank with adult to hatch. Few days after hatching get moved to a 1 gal tank at room temp (72) untill big enough to move again

Then they lay their eggs every single night all over the plants within that heavy water flow. Instead of "picking" eggs off I cut the long leaf I find that morning with at least 20+ eggs and throw it into a breeder box with an airline and methylene blue. Or do a few drops of 3% peroxide a day to keep away the fungus. Any thoughts on fighting fungus without cooking eggs? I bought an egg tumbler. That's my next test project for my cory eggs.

      The pandas are weird and throw eggs over a few day period so it seems like I'm always pulling eggs out of there. Not sure about the Orange Laser's, but I think they may be colony breeders. Have you tried to leave the eggs in the tank to see if you could get a successful spawn that way?

    • @GrowaGreenThumbWithMark
      @GrowaGreenThumbWithMark 4 года назад

      @@OtterCreekAquatics I have not as I fear the black neon tetras would eat them. They actually spawned again today but I think I got to it late as there was only 8 eggs. I had taken them out and put them in a small container rather than in a 10 gal. Also going to do hydrogen peroxide treatments every day and rinse with new water until they start to hatch. I'll keep you posted if anything new happened!

      Since I last messaged, they have spawn twice. They seem to like to lay eggs on the front glass where the flow is strongest. About two weeks between spawns and in similar conditions each time. I'm also raising 2 baby orange laser corys from the last bunch while there are eggs incubating. Been so cool raising these little guys

      I’m having trouble identifying male to female

    • @OtterCreekAquatics
      @OtterCreekAquatics  5 лет назад

      @Tino Rodriguez That can sometimes be hard to do. They more general way to tell is the female adults will be much longer and more round in the mid section. If you want to get more technical try to look at the bottom of the fish. In their "genital" area the males will have a little bump and females will have a hole. When it comes to fins the males dorsal is usually longer and the the females ventral fins are more rounded where the males are pointy. They are this way because when the female lays the eggs she uses the fins to carry the eggs like a basket and spread them. I hope the helps! Definitely let me know if you can see any of these differinciations.

    For breeding endlers I've found a 50% water change, and during the water change I put flakes in. After the water change is done and the food is gone I see the males start dancing more. And the females seam more willing to do it too. I'm about to try getting my panda corydoras to breed I only have 4 of them right now. But. I just added some java moss to the tank, I'm about to do a water change I'm thinking about a 30% and I will start feeding blood worms and newly hatched brine shrimp. Hopefully that will get them in the mood. And I'm going to drop the temp of the tank for a little bit. We shall see what happens. I'm also wanting to get my adfs to breed. So I'm going to do a water change. Then over the next week or so slowly lower the water lvl. Then add a bunch of water back a week from the time I started lowering it.

    Hi! I have a male and female albino corys,I’ve had them around 5/6mths now,months ago we started seeing them doing the T-dance as I call it lol and my female recently started spawning eggs,she’s been spawning around 100+ eggs every week like clockwork since,problem is I can’t get any to hatch,I’ve tried leaving them in tank,putting in a pot and treating with 5drops of hydrogen peroxide (as advised by another RUclips video),I’ve tried treating with a half drop of esha 2000,I’ve tried no treatment,I’ve tried using the egg tumbler I use for hatching brine shrimp eggs,but nothing works! I change the water regularly around the eggs but no matter what I do they just won’t hatch,I’ve watched soooo many videos and from what I can tell she seems to have a good rate of fertile eggs (the ones that go beige coloured after 24hrs) but for some reason they just don’t hatch 🐣 I’m considering buying another couple of albino corys (hopefully a mating pair) to try to increase the odds as right now I only have the 2corys in their own tank,but my husband suggested that because they were bought together from the same LFS that they could be related from the same batch so inbreeding could be posing a problem with the breeding,I certainly don’t want to inbreed but my current pair have such a strong bond too,they’re always together in the tank,so hopefully if I introduce another pair that they’ll get a good bond with their new tank mates enough for me to try to separate them into non related pairs but then I’d have to do this from the start as I’m doubtful that I’d be able to recognise them from each other.
    So yeah,any advice would be super appreciated please.
    Also...AWESOME set up!!! 😍
