    Definitely going to run this the next time a DM presents a coliseum or fighting pits arc in a game.

    Circle of Stars Druid
    Aasimar - Protector
    Cantrip Thorn Whip
    1. Entangle, Snare
    2. Earthbind, Spike Growth
    3. Plant Growth, Sleet Storm
    4. Grasping Vine, Ice Storm
    Mostly pick a area. Combo with Spike Growth and Plant Growth. And use the Thorn Whip to yeet mobs into combo's area effect.
    And use Archer with guided blots to pluck them off when needed.
    Also the double Growth makes for a great cheese grater.
    Could add Ice Knife to the list also.
    I really should do more spell research. LOL
    Just spitballing here really.
    As a counter to your build Sage.
    Something to discuss over ☕️.

      Great build!
      Here's another great spell for you. I would also throw in Erupting Earth as a blaster spell that creates difficult terrain and doesn't use concentration. Druids have an excessive number of concentration spells, more so than any other caster. Finding ways around using concentration is imperative for staying versatile in combat.
      Grasping Vine is also a great way to pull opponents into the difficult terrain, and not towards you. Plant growth is great for the outdoors, and use Erupting Earth indoors. At higher levels, Stone to Mud and Mold Earth are great for planting a vine into a dungeon floor, rooting it with druidcraft, and then casting plant growth to swarm an area. Vines can grow hundreds of feet if "overgrown", and thus planting a single vine allows for all-terrain usage of the spell... Or you could carry around a vine sprout in a sturdy pot, and then detach the sprout after your opponents are tied down.

    Ice Sorcerer. Ray of Frost. Frostbite. Rime's Binding Ice. Hold Person. Slow. Grease. Anything that slows or immobilizes enemies is thematic.

    Depending on encounters you could always just stagger using the tentacle and summoningthe shadows pawn. Between the short rest reset and Proficiency times per long Reston tentacle you'd always have some sort of slowmobile to run over people with

    Okay I have a completely different build that can have similar results.
    Battlemaster fighter with polearm master (glaive or halberd) and the slasher feat. Slasher is once per turn so it can be a reaction, using menacing attack you can halt them from moving closer to you through fear. You can also get crusher to push them away with your bonus action attack combine that with pushing attack and you have gold. You can also use tripping attack to knock them prone gaining advantage. So many options for that build.

    I've actually built a similar character to this where instead of eldritch blasting, you take the pact of the blade and take the slasher feat then concentrate on spirit shroud while using a polearm. The character becomes slightly more MAD but you get to reduce enemy speed by 30 feet between slasher, the tentacle, and spirit shroud, plus you do great damage for a level 5 character and can stay 10 feet away from a target plus if they still have any movement leftover, you can reduce their speed by another 10 feet with an opportunity attack

    The only sad thing here is the lack of mind whip and the slow spell which slow action economy. Were a multiclass allowed this would pair well with Moderately armored and Clockwork Sorcerer IMHO.

    I'm playing a character like this right now in a one-piece inspired campaign. My party contains a wizard and a druid and I am constantly Eldritch blasting enemies in and through their control spells. It gets nasty for the DM real fast

    I really like this build it works better than I thought it would. Honestly I always sleep on the fathomless warlock for either the genie or hexblade. This is a great use for an underutilized subclass.

    while this is a warlock only challenge if someone is making this another route you can take is going sorcerer after warlock 5 and using transmute spell to make all your spells cold. Lightning bolt and fireball as cold damage wont slow but its thematic and pushing enemies into a clump turn 1 is a great set up. You've already got the control down with shadowspawn combo for single target. Lets get Rime's Binding Ice for the big AoE moments. Make Ashardalon's Stride cold to become ice man XD.

    RAW, PH, p. 191. lYou can’t stand up if you don’t have enough movement left or if your speed is 0.”
    I read this as "if you have 10ft of movement you can use 5 ft to stand up".

    Tried this at my table and the 0 movement speed to get up from prone. Rules were apparently updated. In (tashas?) - it states they still stand up even if move speed is zero. According to a rules lawyer at my table...

    • @rodneyrossow
      @rodneyrossow 4 месяца назад

      Your rules lawyer seems to be wrong in this case. I haven't seen any rules clarifications other than Jeremy Crawford tweets on the matter. Jeremy has put out an official clarification which says: The rule on standing up from prone fails to account for you having multiple speeds. Here's the intent: if you have multiple speeds and stand up, expend an amount of movement equal to half your highest speed. So note that if you only have one movement speed, standing up requires half of your highest (only) speed. All examples in the post use the maximum speed to determine the cost for standing up. not your current speed. A speed of 0 means you have no movement. However, as per usual, your GM has the final say.

  • @MarshmellowMan2000
    @MarshmellowMan2000 7 месяцев назад

    Really quick question.
    How does Summon Shadowshade stop something from standing up. Isn’t standing up just the cost of your remaining speed? If you started with 30ft, reduced to 10ft, standing up is still possible, just for 5ft

    • @DnD_Daily
      @DnD_Daily  7 месяцев назад

      Yes, typically. However if you combine shadowspawn with our Eldritch blast with the lance of lethargy invocation then their speed is then 0, meaning they cannot stand up. Alternatively, some DMs rule that standing up takes 15 ft. of movement regardless of what your current movement speed is, essentially half of your base movement speed before you add modifiers. Hope this helps!

    Why would you take LoL instead of RB first - would having the option to push not be more useful?

    • @DnD_Daily
      @DnD_Daily  Год назад

      Either one is viable, but with the theme being simply to slow someone down to essentially lock them in place, Lance of lethargy seemed more thematically appropriate
