    I love all the Premier Yarns and no matter whether I start from the middle (most of the time) or from outside it does not matter and the outcome of all my projects are absolutely wonderful!!!!

    I love this yarn. There is no issue with color changing if you make a continuous granny square blanket. This is my go to baby blanket yarn.

      I have let Premier know of the issue and they are addressing it with the mill. It's still a good deal for the amount of yarn, but it's a bit of a headache. Thanks for watching!

    I love this video! I had just bought three rolls of this yarn, and you’re right! Neither one of their color schemes match. I loved the softness of the yarn, perfect for baby blankets! I found this video very interesting and will be following along for now on (: thank you.

    I've made four baby blankets with this (so far) and love how soft it is, but the problem I've had is finding the center strand (I think because it's packed so tightly.)So I usually just go from the outside also.

    • @ExperimentsinCrafting
      @ExperimentsinCrafting  5 лет назад +1

      I still can't get over how tightly they packed that yarn! If I am struggling to find the center usually just pull a small chunk out and then search for it, but I agree the outside is just easier. Thanks for watching!

    I bought 2 of the Premier Parfait in Frosty Blue. Your'e right I really couldn't find any that started on a solid color only variegated colors. I think I'll do a corner2corner blanket to see how that works out.

    • @ExperimentsinCrafting
      @ExperimentsinCrafting  5 лет назад

      For me starting on a solid was less important than making sure all the colors were there and in the right order. But if you want the colors to be a certain way for a project it is frustrating when they aren't. That's just one of the many annoying things about color changing caked yarns. it seems like every ball should be the same, but I know from a production stand point that's basically impossible. I think the Parfait Layers will make a lovely c2c blanket! Share it with me on Facebook or Instagram when you are done! Thanks for watching!

    • @la1163
      @la1163 5 лет назад

      I will, I started mine in the center of the yarn and you're right there is a lot of yarn per roll.

    I am a beginning crocheter. I made many simple scarves and one baby blanket. I did not know how to trim the blanket so I put fringe on the ends just like I have with the scarves I have made. I would love it if you would do a tutorial on how to trim a baby blanket. But something very simple. I enjoyed this video. I need to start another baby blanket. I will go get this yarn. What size crochet hook should I use?

    • @ExperimentsinCrafting
      @ExperimentsinCrafting  5 лет назад

      I have a tutorial for this yarn that shows how to make a baby blanket with one ball of this yarn, border and all. I'll add more border tutorials to my video planning book! I used a K hook (6.5 mm). You can go bigger if you want the blanket lacier or smaller if you want it to have smaller gaps between the stitches. Thanks for watching!

      Experiments in Crafting Hi Maggie!! I think I’m going to have to wait and see what you do with this yarn! I just sat down to work with it and I am not really sure that I like it! I feel like it’s hard to work with. ☹️ I have tried various stitches and I am not overjoyed with how they look and.... the yarn does not “frog” well....hope I’m using that term correctly. I’m anxious to see your video/project for this yarn.

  • @DKCGamerGirl
    @DKCGamerGirl 5 лет назад

    Very helpful video! I just baught some of thia yarn and noticed the store had both colour schemes. I think maybe they make the colour schemes different intentionally, depending on if you want to make a blanket that is a repeat pattern or a mirrored one?

    • @ExperimentsinCrafting
      @ExperimentsinCrafting  5 лет назад +1

      I suppose that is possible, but I suspect, based on a number of strange things I have encountered with this yarn, it's more a quality control issue at the mill. I have relayed my concerns to Premier and am hoping they get it taken care of. It's a really nice feeling yarn, and it is a great value to get a while baby blanket out of a single ball for less than $10, but it's a bit of a headache dealing with all the quality/color issues. Thanks for your comment and for watching!

      @@ExperimentsinCrafting Great that you were able to bring it to their attention! Yes, it is indeed super soft! This is my first time using parfait yarn making a baby blanket and halfway through the yarn round starting at the center , I noticed the yarn wasn't as thick as when I started making for a smaller, thinner looking stitch. Has this been a problem for anyone else?

    • @ExperimentsinCrafting
      @ExperimentsinCrafting  5 лет назад

      Sorry for the delay, I don't think RUclips saved my response. I think the difference in size is from the yarn being so tightly packed into a cake and the fibers getting crushed under the pressure. I think it'll recover after it fluffs up a bit. If you want to send me a pic on Facebook or Instagram I might be able to tell a bit better, but without seeing it that's my guess. Thanks for watching!

    Hi Maggie! Love this yarn. My first time using it. Is it okay to continue to use the yarn if it's not sequenced in the right order of color? And is it okay to use the yarn if the yarn looks wilted and old looking? I have the perfect layers and it's playtime that's what it's called. Which is the yellow the bluish and the white pink bluish blend, and the yellow looks kind of old. Maybe it's just the yarn itself I'm not for sure cause like I said it's my first time using it.

    • @ExperimentsinCrafting
      @ExperimentsinCrafting  5 лет назад +1

      I think it's fine to use it if it's not in the right order as long as it's not bothering you. Honestly I think we are our own worst critics, I am not sure most people would even notice if the sequence was off in the finished blanket. Also I think that old, wilted look is from the yarn being packed so tight into the cake. I think that will go away as you work it up and after it's washed. I think the fibers get crushed under the pressure of the ball. I'm not positive, but I that's my best guess. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

    What do you recommend to find a ball that doesn’t stop and start colors at random? What to do to fix if we do get a bad ball? Thanks Judy

    • @ExperimentsinCrafting
      @ExperimentsinCrafting  5 лет назад

      For this particular yarn I would just check that your ball appears to have a 1,2,3,1,2,3 repeating pattern. So it should be color 1, color 2, color 3 then repeat. If you pick up a ball that doesn't follow that pattern then don't buy it. I didn't check that pink/purple ball and it does not have that pattern. I think what I can do with that ball is peel off the outer layers and cut the knot and then reattach in the correct order. It's a pain, but it i think it'll fix the problem. With non-striping (solids or speckles) yarns knots aren't that big of a deal, but with a yarn like this, it can ruin the pattern. Thanks for the great question! Thanks for watching!
