    Update of a saving trial for my white fusion ! OMG YOU GUYZ I FOUND THE WAYYY (thanks to the woman that commented it here). So it's been 2 days i put a grow light in my bathroom (calathea likes it MOIST to prevent browning tips) because i didnt want to buy a terrarium i find it gets dirty really quickly and sometimes smell, if the plant grows too much you can't get it out without hurting... WELL. I put that beauty in the bathroom right next to the growing plant (u can actually change the light for a growing one just go buy a socket, got mine at Rona) so it fits in there. AND MY PRECIOUS IS THRIVING FOR 2 DAYS it seems she appreciate A LOT cause she turn her magnificitent leaves to the light and unrolled the ones that were starting to roll back. I'm just so happy, cross my fingers and tell her everyday how gorgeous she is and how much I want her to survive ! ♡♡♡

    I got a white fusion a couple of months ago & it’s been happily living outside where its in a pretty sheltered position & gets late afternoon sun. Although this seems to be working now, I worry I’ll have to rethink its placement in winter 🤔

    I bought a White Fusion that had about 13 leaves. I've cut away 8 leaves because they just turned yellow on me on a daily. I'm currently left with 3 tiny leaves and 2 little sprouts. It sure is a princess!

    I’m a new Calathea mom and boy is it making my hair turn grey. I didn’t realize how much water it needs and today I thought it was a goner. I watered it this morning and now it’s like nothing ever happened. The edges have slight crisping but I think it’s due to the watering. It’s right next to a Bunyan’s a heater. It seems to be pretty happy there!

    I have one grows happily in my flat for 6 months, without any special treatments. She is my love at first sight. And I think she loves me too.
    I'm not doing any research on this princess cause I don't have any problems with it. It sits still with indirect sunlight, moist soil, and humid environment which is never a problem since I lived in Indonesia, a tropical area.
    On March 2020 I leave the city back to my hometown to visit my parents, and got stuck here for corona virus pandemic. I leave her on my friend, with no idea at all that she'll act out, and not get along well with her new environment.
    She had grown small and reverted. It broke my heart.
    I don't know if she'll ever got her variegation back, or if she'll live long enough to meet me again. But I promise to grow a lot more white fusions and make a jungle out of them.

    • @BotanicalWoman
      @BotanicalWoman  4 года назад

      I have been some that does revert which is really strange to me because that one i have has never done this and as you know my conditions in the pacific north west is far from a tropical forest. Maybe try getting the plant from other places to see if you can find a stable one! Good luck!

    I nearly killed one I picked up that wasn't labeled (glad to know now it's a white fusion, thanks!) and finally put it under a cloche I had forever & never used, lol! Now it's doing great!! I love the large jar idea, will try it, but I will definitely keep it covered to protect from pests. -- Cocoa puffs... you're right, lol! You could try pumice instead.

    It had a tough ride home on the scooter and was propagated quite soon after. It almost died in the process but it is feeling so much better after I watered it with distilled Water only. The big leafs are crispy now, but no sign of parasites for now. It ist with me for 2 weeks now.

    I got my white fusion from a nursery in Hawaii. It was love at first sight. The person giving me a tour of the nursery warned me that they are divas and I was like “hey, I can grow almost anything”. I bought a few different calatheas on that trip. I week later they showed up in Oregon. It’s been three months and the calathea struggle is real! Damn, it’s been quite a humbling experience. These precious, little pains in the ass are challenging as hell!
    I’m going to try your terrarium method. It’s worked for some other delicate plants and I hadn’t even thought of it. Thanks for giving me one shred of hope that I won’t slowly murder these beauties.

      lol true diva! i feel like calatheas are just not very adaptable 😂 I feel like if you don't live in a tropical place where its warm and humid they are just a pain. I have put a lot of them in terrariums and they are a lot happier. I'm tempted to make a giant glass case and throw all my plants in there lol 😂💚

      @@BotanicalWoman не думаю, что для калатей значение влажности так критично. И при 30-35% им нормально. Сейчас у нас очень жарко (28- 30С). Приходится каждое утро и вечер делать обход, осторожно поливать. Поэтому решил перейти на фитильный полив, и калатеям это явно больше нравится.

    I impulse bought a calathea white fusion because I saw it on Etsy and fell in love oops, and I got a good deal for it because it was "cosmetically damanaged" ($20 flat with free shipping) and didn't realize the diva I just invited to live in my house. So currently she is sitting under my growlights surrounded on all sides by my orchids who are in self watering pots full of sphagnum moss (the wicking kind so the moss does not sit in water) and I'm hoping that keeps humidity up for her but I'm getting a hygrometer and humidifier just in case (I'm sure the miltoniopsis will appreciate that too). On pins and needles because I see new leaves coming out and am constantly checking for browning or drying tips because I want her to thrive under my care and replace all her already browned crispy leaves from the seller.

    I'm sure you googled the answers here is too I found. I'd say it is number 1. Well you sure took care of no bugs bothering your plant. Great job!
    1. Like many tropical indoor plants, calathea prefers a spot with low to medium light and abundant humidity. If the air is too dry or the plant dries out too frequently, the leaf edges may turn brown and crispy.
    2.Curling Leaves - your plant is cold and thirsty! ... After 12-24 hours, watch the leaves unfurl.
    3.Indirect light - Calathea plants need bright, but not direct, sunlight to grow. ... In fact, direct sunlight will burn the leaves of a Calathea plant and cause it to lose its vibrant colors.

    • @BotanicalWoman
      @BotanicalWoman  4 года назад +1

      Actually, the white fusion can take a bit of direct sun because of how white it is. Mines got direct sun for several hours over the summer and it loved it. But yes, its true for other calatheas. Thank you for watching.

      I'd never want to own a plant that wants high humidity. I like it as 35-50% Great for me and most house plants. Too much work, and if you have to work at the humidity to keep it right, that means you can't go away unless someone is there to fill the humidifier. Windows look like they are steamed up and for homes not good for wood to be damp all the time around the windows. What you did with it's own controlled humidity container is wonderful!!!!

    How is your Fusion doing since being put into that container? That is A LOT of Leca!! LOL. I have 2 that their leaves are getting brown along the edges. I think I am going to rearrange the room so they are closer to the windows and humidifier. They are about 8 feet from the humidifier now and I think that is too far. And I want to try putting them closer to my south facing windows. Those windows have "Low-e" glass that was sold to me as it won't fad fabrics, and no one can tell me how that would effect plants. So I am just gonna try putting them closer to the windows. But I am interested to know if you kept it in that jar.

    Hi! Thanks a lot for the video! I'm currently trying to save mine. I have watched your two videos, but I'm still having troubles finding the right humidity level. First it started to get crispy, so I put a transparent plastic bag on it (could'nt find a nice terrarium), but it get all worse: condensation on the leaves, they became transparent! So I removed the plastic bag and put them on clay balls with water below. Not sure this will be enough humidity, maybe yours with the top open is the right solution.

    • @BotanicalWoman
      @BotanicalWoman  4 года назад

      Hello! Yeah a clear box would work a lot better so the condensation stays off the leaves. I mainly use storage boxes that i get from Ikea/Walmart. Like every plant, you will need to give it time to adjust. as you saw in my most recent vid, it just needs time to adjust to its new environment. If you want to connect with me on IG, I can try to help you further if you send me pics! Best of Luck! and keep me posted!
