    Pardon some of the resolution issues... Still learning my new camera and how to set it up for the best results. This is the first but certainly won't be the last. The future time lapse rebind videos will certainly continue to improve.

      What is the purpose of cutting the spine of the inside liner so that the block can sit inside of it? Why do you and other people do that, does it help keep the spine held together longer or is there some other reason for it?

    Oh my gosh, thank you so much. I am trying to rebind my niece's Bible. It is so precious to her. It's been left in the rain, the binding has been covered in packaging tape but is still half off the book block, basically, a hot mess. So far, I've unbent the folded corners, ironed the pages and in the process of mending the tears with archival tissue tape. I want to use leather for her cover. Originally, it was bonded leather and would I like to make a better cover. My main issue is the front has all the leading pages missing. Trying to figure out how to add pages and what type of pages so that the leather has something to be glued to! RUclips searches ongoing. Your video is a Godsend. Truly! Blessings!

      So glad it's helpful! Something like this really and truly cuts the learning curve down by a few months and will likely save folks thousands of dollars on wasted leather and time on projects where they might make simple mistakes from not knowing the entire process thorough enough. I'm hoping this will give folks an edge, an easy way to learn and some inspiration to go after it.

    • @BeauTate
      @BeauTate  5 лет назад

      That was sped up 40Xs the normal speed. There were spots where I slowed it down in editing to help show certain things and techniques but for the most part, it stayed at 40Xs. Probably close to a total of 8 hours altogether but there was also some work that was done off camera (making and installing the Oxford Tube as well as doing the hot tooling around the border of the interior reinforcement) which was another 1 & 1/2 hours.

    Ha! I loved watching this old video of you! And I love how today you promote a lot of awesome rebinders. The new wide margin TN, NKJV.... I pre ordered it. Still not here. But after seeing reviews, I picked up “ The Legacy Study Bible” Hank Hanegraaff General Editor. Will prob. get rebound. But Beau..... lined pages after every book, and after every letter in the concordance. Double column format with 1” margin to the side of both columns, and 1 1/2” on top! Cat has a video on it. And Bible Believing.... check it out! I’m still getting the new wide margin though. I wish they would get a clue. Great job on this tutorial. By the way, who’s your personal favorite rebinding Co.? Just give me a few. LOL. Your new show rocks by the way! It’s gaining a lot of peeps! God bless!

  • @bella-bee

    If the original cover were a hard back and you don’t have something you can use for reinforcement, what sort of thickness of card would suit do you think? I’ve seen Ben Of Ben’s Bibles uses a sort of canvas cloth, and I’ve seen people use card stock. I’m also worried about warping as the leather dries, but at least we have leather on both sides, hoping that cancels out. My client wants a limp cover but not a floppy one, so I’ve got to find something suitable.

    • @dschafer6634
      @dschafer6634 4 года назад

      Jason Centoni Siegel leather has great river grain goat skin for the cover. The inner leather is usually a lamb skin that you could find at Siegel as well. The end sheets are a heavier card stock I get from Hobby lobby they come ‘textured’ so just make sure you put the nice texture away from the block.

    I’d been struggling to find information of how much of a gap to leave between spine and front and back. I have need to make this with only a 4mm overlap, I think it’s called the square, and an undersized cover could then eat into my very small room for error. Thank you so much

Super cool video!

    • @nochannel1q2321
      @nochannel1q2321 4 года назад +1

      The leather lining is a mistake I'm guessing came from not using book boards. Ribbons, when binding, are generally glued onto the spine of the textblock so they can nicely reach throughout the book. You're never going to really have a fine book until stopping with the double leather in favor of boards and end papers, and splitting the signatures of the book apart to sew together, or you sacrifice the primary method of strengthening the book and getting it to last. So many problems with this tutorial.

    The math at :53 does not make sense if we compare to the earlier formula for width. You stated block width + 1/4" + (2 * yapp) = liner width. That would be 14.25 + .25 + 1.5 = 16.5" for a .75" yapp.

    GOD'S BLESSINGS TO ALL NATIONS AND PEOPLES
    Mark 16:15
    Gospel! The good news about Jesus Christ and salvation from judgment on our sins. Jesus dined with His disciples the night before He went to the cross. Mark 14:22-25. Jesus and His disciples were eating a Passover meal together at the Last Supper. After partaking of bread and wine (His body and His blood), the Bible mentions the hymn Jesus sang with His disciples. “And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.” Mark 14:26. What were they singing on such an occasion? PRAISE! Psalms 113-118.
    THE GOOD NEWS
    "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me." John 14:6
    Jesus Christ loves us! We believe this! John 3:16-17. We believe Him and who He is! He is our Savior! GOD THE SON! ONLY HE SAVES.
    Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 not of works, lest any man should boast."
    JESUS GAVE HIS LIFE FOR US AND LIVES AGAIN!
    1 Corinthians 15: 3 "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"
    Blood coming from his body, NAKED, hanging on that cross like Roman torture weapon! What a Lord God and Savior! He had to. HE is God the Son. Only His sinless blood could pay for all our sins. 1 John 2:1-2.
    He died on our behalf! We believe in Him and who He is, trusting the shedding of His blood as payment for ALL our sins, and His burial and resurrection from the dead the third day for our eternal life! John 20:24-31. HE LIVES EVERMORE!
    We can live forever through Him. God forgives our sins through Him otherwise our sins will prevent us from living in Glory with Him and our family in the faith the Bible describes. We study to show ourselves approved in wisdom and further truths about Him! We are in a family! God's family. CHRIST'S BRIDE! We got to know Jesus Christ better and better!
    Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more than, now justified by his blood, we will be saved from wrath through him."
    HE LIVES! JESUS LIVES!

    You might think about taking a couple of classes. The cover is too large, you put the ribs in but left out the headbands.

      The headbands are already attached to the book block. Look closer at the end of the video and you can see the bands. Also, the cover is not too large. The cover is exactly the size I intended to make. I wanted the cover to have a certain amount of yapp and it is the exact size needed for the desired yapp.

    Please get someone who knows what they are doing to rebind a valuable Bible or book. I have been a bookbinder since 1997 and have seen it all. Don’t destroy a book you treasure out of ignorance or inexperience.

    Ok now gives us a slowed down normal tutorial of how to rebind. No for real, I’d pay you for a detailed and with audio video 🙏 I can’t follow this going that fast man, I have A.D.D. 🤷‍♂️ Have some compassion 🥲

      @@tomstacey9958 you talking about edge lined binding? You ask about overlap, that makes me think of a full yapp but that would t have anything to do with lying flat so idk man. My paste off biding on my Schuyler bibles lay open perfectly flat so even that is a good way to bind so idk what answer you’re looking for to be honest
