I once heard that in the past, books (maybe more specifically a bible) would often be a persons most expensive possession. So much work goes into that. That was amazing.
Not to mention the expense of finding someone literate and paying them for the time it takes to write the work out by hand, and also for the illuminator to finish all the pages with art.
may I ask what the press you use at minute 6:15 is called. I was trying to find it online but was unsuccessful. also the tool you use to true up the fore edge at minute 7:10 thank you
How much would it cost to bind a modern paperback book like this? I really like this Medieval Style book binding (all the decorations + clasp). Incredible craftmanship.
Awesome looking end result! This is the sort of level I aspire to but a long way to go yet. What make is the guillotine you used? I've been looking for one that is reasonably priced but none I've seen can handle that much paper at once..
Tandy Leather would have all the leather working tools and the leather of course. Thin sheets of plywood or press board (cheap furniture backing) are good for the book plates. PVA glue, razor knife or exacto knife. Jute twine or similar. And the sky is the limit on paper. Though I wouldn't choose anything like notebook paper as it is rather weak and easily torn. I like upcycling things and I've used the un-printed portions of paper grocery bags, cut to desired size. The leather you choose for the cover should be 3 oz or a bit less. Too much more, and it becomes difficult to work with and fold over the book plate edges.
You produce such works of art! A true craftmanship.
Thanks ☺

It's a French style lying press called a pygmy press that I bought from Olive and Oak. Here's the link: oliveandoak.com/
@@adeelsbinderypenart I meant the tool you trimmed the signatures with at 0:32
Your work is beautiful. Can you share where you got your paper cutter and both book presses?
Fellow swede here. Where did you buy the press (would like to buy one myself as I dabble in book binding as well)?

Can I order this book for India? If yes then how? And how much will it cost?
Очень крутые работы! Научите? XD

Seems like such a waste to have nothing but blank pages inside such an intricate book.
Have you ever known the joy of daily journaling? Pages do not stay blank for long. 😊
A mea.
