So yes, if you're keeping score: one man died cause he couldn't hold his breath as long as a healthier man, another because he enjoys solitude, and 4 people were guaranteed to die on the carousel, based on the split second decisions of someone else.

@@resonatingwindsall of the traps in saw 1-7 were originally planned by John at some point in time. That's why Hoffman demanded the envelops from Jill. Cause think about it, Hoffman has no real reason to target these people other than John having planned ahead because hes the one that had the vendetta against the insurance company in this case. So yeah, John did have 6 people die without having a real chance at choosing themselves.
@@liacedeno4382 After watching Saw X. there's a part of me who theorizes that John would let his emotions get the better than him when it comes to this. I won't spoil it, but there is a scene near the end where Kramer did briefly let his emotions get to him.
It makes me think the traps(in at least Saw 6) were more murder-y than normal because his own morals went out the window by his anger over the healthcare insurance system. This is completely me reading into my own fan theory retcon, but I feel like it works.
It also more humanizes the weird serial killer who think putting people in death traps was a good idea of rehabilitation.

I fucking love the audio decryption scene. the tension as Hoffman waits for the tech to get to what he knows is his voice, and watching Perez mimic his movements like she's afraid he's gonna run. so, so good. one of my favorite tension scenes, behind the blood test in the thing.

It's great, especially the fact the line they're decripting is "right now, you're feeling helpless" reflecting exactly how Hoffman is feeling as he tries to piece together a plan.

Jigsaw knew. What he taught was that he could predict how someone could react. He had to have known he'd have that kid kill someone in front of his own mother and the victim's sister. That kid is going to juvie. He had the option to let him live, and the sister witnessed her brother's death. There was NO WAY he was walking away from that. It wasn't a trap where he had to kill him to save himself or his mom. He just straight up murdered him in front of a witness. That kid's life is ruined.

John Kramer convinced himself that he wasn't being vengeful and was simply carrying out the will of a higher power.
Personally, I don’t think Josh’s actor was overacting. I honestly thought that whole sequence was kind of heartbreaking. The fact that he _knows_ that there’s no hope and that he’s definitely going to die. I don’t know, man… maybe it’s just me.
IMO, although it's effective and one of the better performances in this series, I find it to be overacting because it's too controlled. You HAVE to be able to let go of your ego for a convincing performance and while there was plenty of emotion and control in his voice and demeanor, it just feels like acting. It's tough to explain but it just feels too calculated. Great for a stage performance, but for a film it takes me out of it.
I think it shouldn't have turned into a growl but go higher. Like in desperation and anger.

I thought the same, until soon after (not shown in the video), where they say it's from New Zealand, whereas Saw X takes place in Mexico. Can't deny the excitement I felt when I heard it at first, upon watching this movie after Saw X's trailer.

Saw 6 is actually my favorite saw movie. The opening just got me right away and a lot of the traps are gorgeous. And it gives more of a backstory to Kramer more than "i have cancer, lost my child, tried to kill myself, and now those who don't appreciate life need to be reborn." I really like it
And Hoffman is bad ass as well

I feel like William is the protagonist that deserved to have lived the most because he actually learned his lesson and became a better person. But if Rodrick says he has to go, he has to go.
William was definitely one of the better protagonists of the series. I’d rather have seen a character like Bobby Dagen get killed off.

I love that there is no music at the beginning of the smoking trap, but as the Janitor starts taking more breaths, the music slowly gets more intense.
Out of the six of the Shotgun Carousel dog pit team, Emily cleverly uses her children as convincing different tactic for survival rather than pleading via purely selfish means, others then copy her "My parents are ill" etc
I really loved that scene when you see all the others quickly realizing they need to change their strategy.
I’d still say saving Emily was the right call though.
Shelby especially. The other survivors saw her through though and avoided her.

Now that I’m rewatching the saw kill counts, James’ impression of John Kramer is probably one of the best
So I just looked up where Saw is set, and it’s actually in Generic City. So it’s pretty good that he did his research for these movies. Great Job James.

Honestly, that "Look at me!! When you're killing me, you look at me!" is both my favorite line and my favorite line delivery in the series. It's so full of that "I know I'm about to die" vindictive spirit and, at least for me, both believable and compelling. It's the sort of thing I'd like to believe I'd have the guts and eloquence to say in similar circumstances.
The flesh trap is by FAR the worst trap. That was the first time I’ve ever felt sick from anything but a sickness.

I think the trap that was hardest to watch (for me) was the classroom trap in Saw 3 (where his skin is connected to a bunch of big rings in many places) I think it's the pulling of the skin that freaks me out so much.

Ryan d’Costa a little late, but the way I see it is that the shark people, the ones in the carousel, killed so many people with their loopholes that he thought it was fit that more people die? Idk still kinda weird that he would do that but ya know 🧩.James also mentions how they only let 1/3rd of their applications get the healthcare. So only 1/3rd of them survive if that helps.

Think about if he had died at any point during the course of the movie prior to the acid trap. There wouldn't have ever been a series of people dying (except, well, maybe the smoker) on account of him never having entered the room(s) to begin the game(s). We never see/saw the explosive cuffs go off so he was driven by instinct to see his family (see: sister) which in turn caused a LOT of people to die. Which was ultimately the point of "his" game. By deciding who lives/dies as an insurance adjuster, he had to decide who lived and died in the respective games when it was entirely possible that if he just sat the fuck still and didn't involve himself... None of them would have died. Including him.
We'll never know for a fact, but I think this movie was more akin to Saw IV in that if he just let go and did nothing a lot of pain and suffering could have been avoided.

This was actually my favorite twist of the saw movies. The way we want him to save his son and wife only to find out the reporter was actually his family and they were the family of one of the people he denied health care to was just such a shocker

I have to admit I love all the saw movies but this is one of my favorites cause the traps are so interesting
The ending still makes me wonder what would've happened if William had just...stood near his sister's cage? Like, the needle trap would just...breeze down past him and clang uselessly against the other cage and they'd all stand around feelingly slightly awkward?
Perhaps it could hit him in the head? Not as many needles but still a painful death (or even quicker)

This comment is 2 years late, but I just can't resist saying how much I absolutely love Josh's death scene. Every time I watch the part where he goes "Look at me! When you're killing me, look at me.", I have to just stop and appreciate how good the delivery is. The palpable fury in his voice and face, the growly tone it gets near the end. If I could attach gifs/images to comments I would add in the chef's kiss meme or that "when the sun hits that ridge just right" meme right here. It's one of those moments that make me go "man, this guy should have an Oscar just for this one line alone".

Yeah, definitely not. The line itself isn't that bad, but the delivery was beyond cringe.
Also, the dude isn't killing him; Jigsaw is. No one in any of these movies, outside of the perpetrators, are at fault. They didn't kill themselves or "fail to survive," they were murdered by Kramer.
It's just some solid over acting.
I think William made the best choices he could’ve in the carousel trap. Emily was definitely the right choice and it was really a toss up between Josh and Shelby: They were both pretty shitty 😂
Not to mention how when Josh does look at him he cools down and just gives in to despair with eyes full of fear. Top notch acting right there.

This movie doesn't really deserve the hate it got, the traps are pretty cool, nothing went wrong with them, I do agree that the whole Hoffman directly killing people seems more like a slasher thing which was disappointing to most saw fans, but the scene of the FBI agents trying to find Hoffman voices on the tape though, suspenseful as fuck, I loved it

Security guard's case, he wasn't confirmed dead, so he said he won't count that since there was still a chance or survival. Both don't contradict each other at all.
