      They compared a 2017 (410kw 6.2L LSA) Clubsport to the Toyota with fancy badging (a.k.a Lexus), which is almost half the price of it.
      Your point?

  • @SuburbanConan
    @SuburbanConan 5 лет назад +2

    Alas, Holden is no more now, so anything from an LSA Clubsport R8 and up is going to be a collectors item, provided you keep the k's down....
    It's a heartbreaking letdown to see HSV and Holden with the SSV Redline Series II (which I've got) get to this point and have it all fall apart. Same way Guns 'n' Roses broke my heart, we'll now never see the evolution of the W1, or how a change of chassis and engine would have improved the Clubby, GTS or GTSR....
    End of an era.

    0-100 in 4.8 isnt impressive given its a 6.2 Litre supercharged motor that has been given so much hype. You can get a 4 cylinder doing that. I know its a heavy car but still, a motor that size and supercharged youd expect better.

      The Lexus GS-F starts at $80k and tops out around $86k. Where are you getting $150k? Also, GM vehicles never hold their value. Lexus has a much better resale value, as they should, since they’re proven to be reliable and have much better build-quality. GM is a joke. This Holden and the Chevy SS variant are both hideous to look at. Just rebadged Malibu’s. That’s all GM knows how to do is rebadge everything.

    These cars have different demographic. Difference between the HSV and the Lexus is HSV "I just want one", where as the LEXUS is "I just lease one" which one will have the most street cred in 5 years time after the next Lexus comes out? Also the HSV buyer will have more pasion for their car vs the LEXUS buyer.

    GM engines are so behind. The Lexus is getting 70kw per liter and the Holden's getting only 66kw per liter even with a supercharger. The Lexus engine with a supercharger should be able to make at least 450kw with no other mods. Also the Lexus is faster to 60km/h... supercharged vehicles are supposed to have more power-down low compared to a high-reving NA engine like the Lexus and it didn't look like the Lexus was launched from high revs either.

    • @blkbeau8923
      @blkbeau8923 7 лет назад +1

      "GM Engines are so behind?" The LS engines are some of the strongest and easiest to maintain/modify. Why change a formula that has been working with moderate updates? While the displacement is larger than the Lexus, that is only one factor. If you want a smaller engine like the 5.0 thats ok. Some of us like our v8's big. In reality they aren't huge engines.

    • @guytoob
      @guytoob 7 лет назад +1

      blkbeau There's nothing wrong with big size but the GM here is just not making the power that a modern engine can make as shown. So the extra 10Gs you spend supercharging it, etc. just it to make it acceptable, shouldn't be thought of as an advantage. How different are GM fans here to the people who spend too much money on what GM fans call "euro trash", etc. that don't deliver? Maybe if they made good power, the bolt-on aftermarket for GM wouldn't be this big. If Lexus/Toyota made crate motors, even GM cars would use those instead of GM engines and frankly, the cars would sell better globally too.

      Japanese drifters have been using Ls crate engines for a while now because of torque and reliability, always found that even if they did use ohc, haters would still hate.

    • @guytoob

      Who cares if the performance is there. Honestly are you going to care that an engine isnt as technologically advanced when it is pushing this sort of power? If it was such a dinosaur the Lexus's more sophisiticated and advanced engine would have been able to close the gap. There are benefits to running a pushrod OHV design anyway. Not that you'd care to notice.
