  • Rufus Sewell has said preparing to play the Duke Of York in a dramatisation of his infamous Newsnight interview was “a question of sympathy versus empathy”.
The Holiday actor stars opposite Gillian Anderson as Emily Maitlis in the new Netflix film, which delves into the story behind the interview about Andrew’s friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Photographer Mark Harrison, who witnessed the actual interview, joins Talk Today to give all the insights.

I have to say that Prince Andrew interview was tv gold for all the wrong reasons. I honestly don’t know how he has survived it. I keep reading innocent until proven guilty but to me, he was lying through his teeth from start to finish. Pompous, arrogant and thick.

Its starting to look like he's only guilty by association, because after 4/5 years they still haven't been able to find any hard evidence or proof nor have the "victim" been able to provide any evidence the courts, its just allegations. It's starting to also look like a "deflection", as we've known about Andrew for the last 4/5 years & still only focusing on him, what about the rest of the high profiled ppl, celebs & politicians who were also associated with that island.

That Prince Andrew interview was funnier than any stand-up special I've ever seen 😂 I absolutely loved watching this "honourable man" fall onto his sword, and his pathetic lying was absolute gold 😂😂😂 he lies like a 5 year old 😂 I ❤ the Royal Family! I pay all my taxes to fund their lavish lifestyles and don't get a thing in return, what's not to love about them 😍

I'm not a body language expert, but I cringed when watching the interview. It was so unbelievable how arrogant and ignorant a person can be.

The dramatisation is SO poor that it makes the original interview seem not quite so bad . Apart from the credible performances rendered by Romula Garai , Richard Goulding and Kealey Hawes , the overall impression was one of a “ham” construction and cheap production . Billie Piper gave her own performance of McAllister , whom Brian Viner referred to as being “brassy” but Piper seemed to take brassiness to new heights - must be her natural talent ? Rufus Sewell …. a valiant effort but he failed to capture the swaggering and sometimes unwittingly smooth arrogance and brashness of Andrew . Instead he made him look like some soul in torture genuine questioning despair . As for Gillian Anderson , in the first half , she seemed unable to shed her appalling mimicry and interpretation of the late Lady Thatcher . Watch closely and also watch closely for the real rhinoceros in the room , it’s only one line which the confirmation of the statement within , was confirmed at the time . The ultimate reason which allowed that disastrous interview to have ever even take place . Imo

That little gold digger knew EXACTLY what she was doing and her Father dropped her off at the party where the so called offence happened. 🤷🏻‍♀️ She wasn’t under age either. £12,000,000 later, and breaking the deal….she’s laughing all the way to the bank! Didn’t watch the interview when it happened, so I’ll be giving this a wide berth too. What a lot of rubbish! 🤦🏻‍♀️
