- Many people had asked to see some fencing and sparring in an Irish Leine a traditional piece of Irish clothing. So with the help of Jack I present this video with a breakdown at the end.

That looks like fun. 😂😂😂
It was indeed
Nice!
It's a lot more free and flowing than I bet many expected.
Thank you
Ah, the bould Jack. Excellent man!
He is indeed
Yeah, I've done that here in Chicago. Usually I put a wool aketon over the top.
Nice one
Great video. Amazing and very interesting
Thank you
Very cool experiment

Nice one Nathan, what do you think of sparring in orthodox if your right handed like your partner in this video?
You can definitely do it as it allows for some specific footwork and rotation of the torso into what we call the false lead but I wouldn't do it all the time.
Very interesting! I'm wondering if your opponent found it more difficult to see the movement of your sword arm, making it harder to predict your actions? If the flapping distracted you, it may have distracted him as well... Good stuff! 👍
A good question I shall ask him and see.
Where did you get your leine?
This one was given to me by a viewer I have another one made by the folks at spes market.
I've made a few for people who do SCA in the states myself. I made my own too. Dyed with turmeric.
Ah yeah did you mention doing another video a real sword? It would be great to see sparring from lads different clubs. I know HEMA exists but rarely see videos shared.
Yes I have a steel trainer and will get fencing footage of that eventually too
Hi Rambling Kern. Nice video but your léine is not accurate. I have talked with you before about this. The sleeves are all wrong and the length of the léine is wrong too. I done stick fighting/Bataireacht wearing the léine many years ago.....its not that difficult. The sleeves are not a bother either once you get used to them and understand them. Also, the léine sleeve could be tucked into the crios, tied at the wrist or tied to the shoulder. We have historical references to this. I wish I was younger, I would have liked to spare with you. Anyway, well done once again.
I contacted you yesterday on one of your other vids with a related query. I am looking to contact anyone willing to, or already does, wear the l\eine in daily situations. If that is you, or you know of anyone else, please get back to me. I will explain in more detail then. You have my email. Best wishes, Proinsias.
Hi mate I know this one was gifted to me by a viewer and as a result why I was willing to spar in it and risk damaging it. I responded to the other message just there.
@@ramblingkern Yeh, I fully understand. Speak soon.
