One of the best explanations I've seen on how to not just locate gold but continue to search for the best paying area. I think most people including myself get stuck cleaning one area of every small speck they can find and dont venture off to find greener pastures.

This helps a lot, because I find a lot of iron and lead with my GB2 (sometimes with some small gold), but after watching this I realized that I just move from target to target without really mapping out what I'm finding. Next time I'm out I'll mark each find with little orange flags so I can visually see where the heavies are falling out, then maybe my day will be a little less sporadic and a lot more concentrated on the gold. Thanks Gary!

The river you are on right now I've seen alot of places like that that has plenty of bedrock and large boulders and gravel and sand. I just didn't have a clue back in those days. I could just imagine what I could've found and probably still can. I went off grid back then to fish rainbows if I would have been looking for gold I'd probably be rich off it by now. Lol. I'm looking for a hobby and I believe that I would enjoy this. Jim a guy I know used to hunt ginseng out there in the mountains and he found a crap load of that and back then it paid like 900 dollars a ounce for them roots.

Two Toes I left you a message asking you what you thought about prospecting in some small rivers I know about in North Carolina and I did some research pretty quickly and the mine I was talking about I took my brother in law to it was the lucky strike mine. And I seen that Cain creek had gold in it as well and I believe that is a river in Spruce Pine which is at the top of the mountain and I believe it also runs through Ashville. So now I don't believe I'd be unlikely to find what I'm looking for plus maybe some gems and other minerals. And I even know of a cave up about halfway up the mountain and as far as I know out of almost 5 years I was out there I've never seen anyone else back there where I used to fish never even seen any foot prints or signs of anyone else. Let me know what you think please? Thanks Stuart

Sweet. My grandma's detector can find me the gold! But I've been doing lots of research and I think I'm going to get the Fisher gold bug. Its 19 khz should be enough to find small gold in a tailings pit right?

19 kHz is a bit to low, great for coins but will have a hard time picking up small gold. Gold Bug 2 is 71 kHz, will find much smaller pieces.

I sell them in my store, but the last shipment that came in had some that came apart, so I am not selling them. I am trying to get good ones from the supplier right now.
