I am retired. Not from anything in particular, just got old enough and quit working so hard. I live in the Pacific Northwest (Eastern Washington) and have always wanted to do this. Some folks binge on their favorite TV shows - I have been binging on your videos! I learn more from watching a half hour video of yours than most books I TRY to read on the subject! Keep on climbin' and pannin'! If you don't use it you'll lose it! BIG fan here! Thanks so much for these, Gary!
I am getting ready to somewhat retire but always been wanting to pursue gold. Not far away my brother. Missoula / polson Mt. Peace and prosperity my brother and to your family Montana Rick.
I can’t tell you just how much your videos have helped me. Everywhere you’ve said the gold would be, it’s there! Often, nothing to write home about but your knowledge is tried and proven. I hate to say this but I’ve had such a good summer finding flood gold, I’m looking forward to the next drought year.
Met an 73 year old gold miner and his pup and with a bottle of booze who lives part time on his claim and he told me to come back up and he will teach me his techniques on looking for the yeller stuff. It's way up off of a very secluded fork of the American river near foresthill Ca. I think I'm about to catch yellow fever!
This video was really helpful to see the bigger view you showed of the creek to get a good sense of why you are digging where you are. That plus the closer details of the tight gravels and the heavy cobbles is helping me look at the creeks where I am very differently. I am learning a lot from these videos, and even more when I go to my creeks and trying to relate the info there.
Missed this one from the vault apparently. You are a great teacher. I always hear something new to consider on the river or wherever I may be mining. I don’t get to go as much as I would like to. Solid knowledge really helps where I chose to work. And it’s always a better trip when you come home with a few pieces of gold!! Thx Gary.
I love this video! I decided after watching today's video (3/4/24) that I would go back and rewatch your earlier crevicing videos and see all that beautiful gold again. Thanks for the years. Thanks for patiently pointing out the details that amateur prospectors might miss. Blessings always.😊
Just saying a big hello from Australia 🇦🇺 you are a very good teacher I told my parents to watch this video since then they have found over 100 colours in only a couple of weeks and they are hooked ....welldone👍🏽
You've inspired me to make videos of my own prospecting adventures! i enjoy rewatching your older videos that are fun and have lots of gold even if i've seen them before!
Garry you know your stuff as a new be I am from Maine and I have found gold in are streams parts that no will ever believe me but my gain. I wish I had just one day out with you you remind me of my grandfather never stop on the things he loves the most love your videos hope to catch up some day God bless you buddy
Just started watching your channel at the beginning of 2021. I thought I saw all your best informative videos then came across this one from 6 years ago. Looks like you were in the early stages of making videos and they only got better. This is on my favorites list.
thank you brother. a lot of people make prospecting videos, but you take the time to make sure you explain the process completely. i am almost 60, and am just now finding an interest in this, and have completely enjoyed your tutorials, and have done my best to absorb your teachings. i live in el dorado hills and i have had a hard time finding places that my bad ankle could get me to, but i know i have the ability through your teachings to go out and find gold. thank you again, brother.
Thank you Gary for digging out this crevicing video. I learn a bit more every time. This summer, July 2021, I am heading to the Klamath river , crevice and metal detect till the cows come home.
From start to finish, you are the most informative gold channel on youtube! Thanks for sharing your secrets and techniques. I went crevicing at the san gabriel river east fork last weekend and found the best gold I've ever gotten. Thank you again, cant wait till your crevice tool ships, so i can really destroy some crevices.
Mate really enjoyed your video. I am not a prospector but I do some detecting and I found your video both educational and informative. Thanks for taking the time to show us what crevice gold prospecting is all about.
The area that I look for gold in Australia is mainly flood gold and crevice gold as it was heavily worked long ago. Thank you for sharing your experience and tips I will be using these when I am next out there looking for yellow.
Thanks Gary for taking the time to explain what you are seeing and what to look for. You are explaining things so beginners like me can understand. Am always glad to see you get some gold! I am sure you would be able to find more if you weren't taking the time to explain things. Maybe carry a small flashlight to better see the bottom of the crevices? Still enjoying your videos!
Hi there Mr Gary 🆕 subscriber here… I wanted to thank for giving your years of experience for to anyone in this world. A true admired American spirit. Happy new year 🎆 and happy panning✌️
I really love your videos. When I am on you tube here and cant find anything that gets my attention I go to yours and have never been disappointed. Thanks so much for showing us how to be real entertained while learning this wonderful past time.
I enjoyed your crevicing advice. I live in Nova Scotia and we did have a lot of gold mines in the past. I haven't been on any trips to these old mines sites yet. I do know one place where it was rumored there was an old Gold mine started. I think it stopped because of some massive rocks above it. They were just too timid to try for long because of the precarious nature of these immense boulders. I have seen a few actually fall down the cliff and bounce out in the middle of the Road. No second chances with these rocks. more than a ton each. I have been watching your little clips and enjoy them very much so thanks and keep em coming.
Hey Gary ,my name is Anthony Macaluso from Brentwood ca . I recently have been blown away by your videos and have made my first couple trips up to the river, thanks to your help and informative videos I found my first piece of gold sniping. Thank you soooo much for what you do. I got the fever hahhahaha and it's not Corona related 😂
Hey Gary. Purchased a Merion crevice tool last night. I would love a thin one to complete the set they go fast, Super excited. I will never go prospecting without it. Thanks - Rod
Subscribed. I see where you are and that looks like one of the areas near a fork of the American river. I love the fact you found a California newt as well. If you find those in breeding season they form a mass the size of a bowling ball around a female. It is really wild to see that in a pool of creek water. Some of the creeks feeding the American river are the most amazing places I have ever seen but they are dangerous, unforgiving, difficult to get to and surrounded by if not on private property.
Crevicing is some work, but it's much better than digging a huge hole in the middle of Creek and sluicing and not getting much of anything because you found a little pocket before in that spot.nice!!!
Awesome!!!! Just got the fever. been metal detecting for a few years and have found plenty of silver and relics, and even a nice specimen. Im here in sacramento and am planning on hitting the american river locally. Not sure how lucky I will be, but you never know until you try. Thanks for your great videos.
That is just unbelievable how much gold there is in your rivers in America. It's like a miracle. Just to get the idea, in my country in Europe, only two rivers are gold-bearing rivers and the biggest piece ever found was 3 mm big. You are talking about business? Hell, by what you have shown us, your river is real business.
Not all the rivers have gold. We are blessed with a lot of gold bearing rivers in California. Most of my videos are filmed on rivers that have taking me years to locate the good gold areas. Thank you for the support!
Thank you so very much on how to get gold out of crevaces..Love how you read the rivers..Im just a novice got Sluice Box Panning equip. Plan on getting some more tools for this hobby. Its winter here in Wa but still places to go with rivers up...Great Video.. Thank you.
Oh my word, I just got to see this video today March 15th 2021. And once again I do read up on the comments and about the page or channel and I have been watching other videos on gold panning in hunting I really like this video one because I got a mustache like that and the other I like what he said in the video and in his comments of (about) this channel. Excellent job finding the gold and teaching us how to very excellent video. Thank you very much for your hard work. It was fun to watch I can't wait to watch even more of them. I'd love to get out there and do a little gold hunting panning myself someday. I live in Indiana, Indianapolis. Can't find nuggets here what I'm told.
Subscribed! I've been getting more and more into mining, your tips on the flow and where the gold goes helps a lot! So far I've only gotten fines, hopefully that changes soon!
I’m just moved too Idaho haven’t tried yet I’m gonna go for it with the a52s an Garrett gold pan thank You for the info I be watching the videos 😎 already subscribed
I've been trying my luck with Butte Creek in multiple locations. Yesterday up in Forrest Ranch. Absolutely beautiful up their. We had a little luck. Boy was it cold. A mountain shadowed the Sun most of the day. It was a fun but cold.
Hey nice video work! Got a little help for ya big brother, try taking some empty cans. Soup can and a bigger pear can. They work good and save the fingers!
Good video. I'd say it is well worth a subscription. I've been at it for about as long as you ~ give or take. I like your shot group on this, there was no BS. Thanks, Woody.
Thank you very much I am going to put some of what you have shared in this video and in the sniping video to good use. I live just off of the Alex Fraser River in British Columbia. There are a few large creeks in the area I will be visiting this summer with my snorkel gear.

I found this tutorial very informative Gary. I'm in NW Wyoming, not known for good gold, but it is here... sparsely. What I find is very fine gold in the cracks in the bedrock. It often stymies me though because I may initially find some color in a crevice but as I dig deeper into it, I get less or none at all. It doesn't make sense, but that's what I'm finding. The clues you give in this video may help me to look in perhaps better places, but that little mystery still has me guessing.
The crevice may have been cleaned out years ago. What your finding, is gold that has settled in the crevice, but there has not been enough large floods to work the gold to the bottom of the crevice - just a guess. Thank you for the support.
That was my thought as well, but I've used a large pry bar to open up cracks and get to the material underneath... which has been devoid, or nearly devoid. My other thought is that the gold is so fine and there is so much black sand that the gold isn't able to work its way through. The weather is pretty bad this weekend for me to go back out and reevaluate the crevices based on what you demonstrate in this video, but I will be looking at them in a different light next time I get out there. Either way, I'm having fun going out and prospecting. You just can't beat a weekend in the mountains.
Boy Two Toes, I've officially watched almost every video you put out, they are great! If you were to start group outings like that, I'd bet your store business would just start cranking with all the stuff people would buy from you as you are super knowledgeable, and it'd be easy for me to spend money there, of that I'm sure ;) I'll buy off your website here soon. Thx again awesome informative videos :)
Subscribed and already looking forward to new videos. I have watched a lot in the past few months and I have to say that your videos are one of the best. I think I understand now how to work a crevice. I'd like to see more about how to identify which are the "right" ones. Also, it will be great if you make videos about how to read a river, where to sample, how to sample. Where to look for the gold in the river and on the banks. That'd be great and keep up the quality videos :)
+PhotoAdvanced Welcome aboard and thank you! I am working on a how to read the river video, but work and the weather are not cooperating. I hope to be able to finish it early this spring.
Just bought a set of basic ( Fisher )gold pan kit , Havent been out yet, still snow on ground here in Maine. I have never panned yet. Last year was my first year metal detecting. Upgraded already and this year bought the Garrett AT pro. So, combined Ill be busy this summer.
Love your teaching on finding gold. Big question I have is have you ever heard Bigfoot screams or seen tracks or sightings? I have on west coast rain forest area. Freaks me out.
, great video to toes I am headed up there from Oakland California I already have most of the tools I saw on your video shot I know the area and I will try your techniques you are very graceful and a good teacher I appreciate this information and I'm Mighty grateful sir see you soon
+Edward E. Anderson Gold is very hard to pick up when its in water. With water in the crevice the gold can move down to a point where it would be very hard to get enough flow to dislodge it. It is a lot easer to scrape and brush it out when its dry. Thanks - Gary

Now that's a pan of gold.....Respect Two Toe's....respect!

Love your teaching on finding gold. Big question I have is have you ever heard Bigfoot screams or seen tracks or sightings? I have on west coast rain forest area. Freaks me out.

Thanks for sharing your expertise! Can't wait to give it a try someday soon!
Thank you!
Nice crevice ing keep up the good work you’re looking good at it and I am learning
Great instructional video. Question: "Why not fill crevice with water and use a sucker tube to get all the stuff outta there?"
+Edward E. Anderson Gold is very hard to pick up when its in water. With water in the crevice the gold can move down to a point where it would be very hard to get enough flow to dislodge it. It is a lot easer to scrape and brush it out when its dry. Thanks - Gary
Hey bud like your videos been watching for a week now and very helpful cheers
HI Two Toes
