Besides my closest friends. These opinions are what I have been waiting for!!!
Let's talk about Pokemon, no one covers that stuff
I love how Imran is so excited great seeing that side of him
Lol I was texting my friend yesterday that I have never seen Imran smile this much. Glad he is getting a game he loves.
Imran is inssuferable
Pokemon must be really popular in San Francisco, because all these channels seem to mention on their shows.
This might have been your best discussion vid yet, it's so balanced and eloquent, mad props, can't wait for the spoiler discussion
Never seen imran this happy, so excited to play this game.
Herman Falck How A bit hyperbolic don’t you think? Everything there is solid, even to a non-FF fan the game is okay, and by no means constitutes a bad game.
@@shaid1111 nope it's a masterpiece and Imran is fine with his opinion. Nice try.
@@shaid1111 your opinion
@@shaid1111 You're allowed not to like it. Saying other people are wrong for liking it is just dumb. You know it, I know it and arguing on the internet is a waste of time, you don't need to recruit people to your side and you don't win anything.
Yea i was bracing for him and Greg to hate it and the fact they loved it has me unbelievably hyped
Got this game early in Australia early. It's absolutely mind blowing. I've just been constantly in awe of Midgar, the story, the character beats, and battles. Just thinking about it, I can't wait to play more.
For me personally, the original FF7 was maybe the most important game I ever played. It was the first game that showed me a game can be more than just fun or difficult, but it can be an emotionally gripping adventure. I'm SO hyped to hear such glowing reviews! :0)
Brandon Robinson That was Chrono Trigger for me
@@testsubject157 It feels like Square Enix/soft games have the ability to tug at those heartstrings. Can't wait to play this!
That’s was my exact feeling for FFX since it was my first FF. I was way too young to play FF7 when it first released. Going back and playing it after the fact I can see why it’s such an important game.
@@sutekidane94 I LOVED FFX!! What a special game...
@@sutekidane94 playing seven, being 10, at a time when its graphics were top quality, time was slower, it was realy a bombing mission. Imran we feel you... 33 now, can t wait to go back to that place that knows it cannot be the same. It's like another Twin Peaks 3. Still want to hear Uematsu confess his inspiration on Badalamenti.
The Hip Hop De Chocobo track is worth buying the game alone.
This is KFG Vol. 2, Episode 15 (Episode 267 overall)
30 hours in and I don't want this game to end loving it
With the Rona times 5 man stream seems to work really well
Bless ya'll for getting this up so early!!!!! I need to get my tv and ps4 back from my other job. I refuse not to be able to play this!!
I never thought I’d see a video where Greg was too quiet, but we are living in 2020 and these are strange times.
Wifey probably sleeping in the other room lol
Phenomenal discussion, thanks! I’m excited to get my hands on this on Friday.
Tim thought it was the greatest game he ever played????? holy shit!!!!!!
My hype for this game is over 9000. Those goosebumps you guys felt, I felt that from the demo. It did things to me no one has been able to do for a long long time. I’m am sooooo pumped for Friday.
Ohh boy wait and see and eventually you’ll get crushed.
@@johannesnagengast7643 Just cause you were crushed by it doesn't mean post people were.
Its great that this is a decent length. My worry now is that Square said they split this up so they didn't have to cut content or quality. So how many parts is this going to be if they're expanding elements this much? Unless they cut back in other places. 3 parts seems impossible if they intend to go this big. Curious now to see what part 2 covers and how long this whole cycle ends up being.
The 5 faces set-up is awesome!!
I received my copy early I haven’t finished it yet I’m about 14hours in, I have to say that the game is phenomenal! My only complaint is the filler side quests and some of the pacing issues between main story missions. Overall the combat is amazing, the music/voice acting is fantastic. The world and character development is unreal! Can’t wait to play it more. I’d recommend this game for sure for old players and new.
Dope set up, Kev. Good work.
You guys got me more hyped for this than any other review I saw. Subbed.
Hearing you guys impressions has got me more excited. Cannot wait for my copy from Best Buy to arrive.
Scourge88 same
Thank you guys for this amazing discussion. Your review and opinion of the game is extremely fair. This is why your channel is so much better than many other 'more popular' ones.
I really miss the "what you been playing" section of the podcast. I really liked getting updates on what everyone was playing. I would have really liked to hear more about animal crossing from Greg as an example.
Blocking is far superior to dodging. Take the hit and use it to fill your ATB gauge. This isn’t a defensive/evasive game. You’re supposed to tank the hits while blocking and leverage that to ramp up your offenses more.
Great review guys, I can’t wait to dive in on Friday!
I've died plenty of times through my play-through until now on normal. I'm doing all the side stuff, and trying to not miss any discoveries, etc. The combat definitely does demand your attention and if you want to repeat the same tactic for all the enemy and boss fights, or just use Cloud the whole time you'll basically end up with the whole party dying whilst you scramble to use your potions and cure spells, etc.
I love how there were "leaks" that people/streamers were beating this game in 15 hours, but every reviewer I've listened to so far has said it was, at minimum, about 30 hours. When I finally have this game in my hands, I plan on playing it twice for hard mode at the very least, so I'm hyped.
After hearing this, it seems that once the rest of the game is released, this could go down as one of the very best games ever. I did not expect Greg to care for it at all
I’m surprised Greg loved it that really gives me hope I thought this game wouldn’t be his thing so I’m shocked and even more hyped now !
Ronin 90 Definitely. I actually sold my PS4 last year and was thinking about re-buying one for FF7R. Then I saw the IGN review and a couple others, and didn’t think it would be worth re-buying a whole system for. However, this video makes me 95% sure I’m going to
Greg Approved. I love and hate how critical he can be of games at times but when he’s hyped for one, you know it’s a good time.
Colby Freda I quite enjoyed that game. It was just full of bugs and never given the attention that was needed to fix them.
Greg is very Humble for a change, lol
Well because of Greg im definately gonna buy the game 👍. My best friend used to play ff7 religiously as a kid but i would just watch sometimes and never really knew what was going on. But now im pretty hyped to see how great this game is.
You guys convinced me to pre-order! I'm super excited!
Final fantasy 7 and the witcher 3 are my goat games. Way back when it was a new game I bet the original ff7 several times. I'm very excited to replay it the way I saw it year's ago with amazing visuals and extra content!
I sweat a lot too, BKD! You're not alone.
Most of their compliments for the remake can just be attributed to the original game, which makes sense because most of the panel hasn't played the original. Yes, we know the materia system is cool. It was cool in 1997.
@Moribund Entity Thanks.
Greg saying he loved it gave me goosebumps
So chronotrigger remake?
It makes me ridiculously happy that even people like Greg loved this Remake! I completed it a couple of days ago, dunno how to do feel about the ending...but I loved 99% of it and can't wait for Part 2!
Episode 267
Getting this in the mail next Tuesday. Maybe earlier if things change, but I'm legitimately interested in the game and I hope it's great for someone like me who hasn't played FFVII
Well based on this...it sounds like I should buy my first ever Final Fantasy game.
Games With James definitely!
@@scrublord7922 I needed this heads up.
Great discussion guys! Even more excited for the game! To touch on what Tim mentioned about the Advent Children movie; I think the whole idea of Cloud being overly "emo" in that film is something the internet mass bullied people into believing. The guy went through a ton of traumatic events and then at the onset of the film contracted a virus with a 100% kill-rate and he didn't want his friends to have to see him slowly die. I think that's too poignant and human an idea to just blow off as "ugh, it's hard being pretty," lolol funny as that is. There's so much more going on there. Dude had a right to be sad. But anywho keep doin' what'cher doin' guys. Awesome content. Your voices are comfort food.
Totally agree The character cloud is not emo at all but is literally carrying the weight of the entire world on his shoulders that’s stressful Af. he wants to be able to save everyone his friends family people he loves that’s who cloud is but he’s carrying such a heavy burden and he blames himself for everything. At that point he’s Just dealing with so much shit not mention that he also pretty much has cancer or the stigma as they call it. He’s a broken man fighting a internal and external battle within himself
Is the emerald and ruby weapon in this?
No, Emerald & Ruby never appeared in the Midgar section of Disc 1 to begin with.
I'm sure glad to hear how long this game is. I've been super interested in trying Persona 5, but I can't commit to a game for 100+ hours to play the main story. Most games I tap out around 50-60 hours max.
No one:
Literally no one:
Me: tEaM sEpHiRotH
This has me more hyped! I've been a long time fan since the original.
Omg yes I’m even more hyped now
I am so excited to get my hands on this game. Think GameStop will be able to sell early like they did with Doom and Animal Crossing?
This review pushed me over the edge to make the purchase. It was great hearing the opinions of some who aren’t FF fans.
One thing of note though... I assume they all played on the PS4 Pro... I’m playing on a slim and my experience with the performance he been very different than this podcasts. My load times weren’t bad at all. And in response to the pixelated backgrounds, I think this has something to do with the Resolution of the Pro, as on the slim the backgrounds look pretty smooth. I’m actually really impressed by the performance on the slim overall.
I think it will be polished once the PC version comes out hopefully
It's amazing.
was such a relief to hear Imran s comment, I almost got convinced by the haters
Why dont you guys invite Brianna White? The voice actress for Aerith. Her RUclips channel is Strange Rebel Gaming.
She set for life...... I dont understand how she deserved that role
@@Hi11Zones What do you mean? She's a voice actor & she was amazing in Remake. She has talent.
Can’t wait to play the game even though I’m still apprehensive about it. Glad you folks enjoyed it!
It is going to be rough trying to avoid spoilers for another year.
Dope Wonder Woman artwork in the bookground
This to me is Square's best in house game since KH2
Ah man! Cannot wait to get my hands on this game even more now! These reviews feel more personal than any other out there! And you guys don’t shit on it and lower scores just because of a few things! Only a few days and I can play this game.....maybe I’ll do my own review haha. It’ll just be meX in five corners talking to myself
my feelings leading up to the game was very much greg, guess i have to check it out now you guys convinced me i shouldn’t miss this
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WE GOT HIM!!!!! GREG IS NOW ONE OF US FF BOYS and GALS
Did this review get me mores hyped!! Am I avoiding spoilers even though I've played ff7 over 7 times yes yes I am. Let's go! Great review guys as always love the content. :)
It really bothers me that Tim is the one NOT wearing glasses lol
good stuff.. i'll have to grab it.
always been in to FF7 and others but im surprised it turned out this good especially considering the episodic format.
makes me wonder what FFversus13 wouldve been.
@@shaid1111 because that is your experience. It can be good for someone, bad for you or vice versa. Everyone have different taste and stuff so other people might find enjoyment in this that you didn't get. I respect your take though and it sucks you did not have a good time with this
Paying 60 dollars for a incomplete game lol 😂 what is this world coming to, what is gaming coming too.
@@TouchdownTamagotchi 35 hours sounds pretty complete
@@shaid1111 i'll take my chances
@@HusslerkiD 15 hours of main story and 20 hours of fetch quest to stretch the story of midgar which was fine the way it is lol 😂 pure and utter robbery. I get it people are desperate for anything so they'll except anything. But if your a real gamer and not a casual then you wouldn't support practices like this.
Does anybody know where I cand find the last of us playthrough part 1 with Greg and Nick? is it a patreon exclusive? I can't find it anywhere and they are saying that they are filming part 2 this week
Yahli R it was on twitch. Should be up this week
You have two choices:
1) Watch it on the Twitch archive.
2) Wait until we put it up as one big video here.
❤️
Greg
Honestly I'm really starting to dig this asthetic. Kinda gives me Around the Horn vibes on ESPN. I would low-key like them all just to get green screens and make this the permanent way of doing stuff lmao
Amazing discussion. My biggest fear about this game is the apparent absence of FF7 Fanfare which is absolutely one of my favorite pieces of video game music ever.
What I learned from this is won’t have to rush the game and miss side quest
Had to run this podcast, since I had played and completed the original FFVII. It's not really a game that aged well so it's nice that they decided to do an HD remaster, even if it will take several games to get through the story. :|
Best KDF piece of content... ever.
Man I loved this discussion
Ffvii is the only game that’s one of my GOATs that i’ve never actually played
Well the KH2 team is working on FF7R. The Osaka team is the new KH team. Hence the differences and similarities between the 2.
I'm really looking forward to this game! Do you think it will have story DLCs like FF XV? I'm worried about that but I hope not. I think releasing the game in separate parts should be more than enough.
You love to see it!
The 1 thing I wanna know is the ratio of watching vs playing. I played the original a couple weeks ago and couldn’t stand the amount of dialog, so I gave up after about 12 hours when I got the buggy.
Fully with Greg here. I have no affinity with the FF series either, but GOD DAMN, this is an outstanding modern game in it's own right. Let alone a remake of a masterpiece that could have so easily been F*cked up.
This makes me so excited... I absolutely cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wanted to hear more from Greg. He was cutoff a whole lot trying to chime in.
Yeah, for the first time ever I have to say this:
Let Greg speak. Haha!
what surprised me that they didn't mention is the characters say curse words (which is unusual for an ff game)
I mean, the FF7 cast swore, especially Barret & Cid.
The hype that you just put me in
I’m hyped as fuck for this game
Blue Banana is pleased
What for the day 1 patch!!! They might add more stuff
This guys are making me buy this game at full price and i was never a fan of this franchise. I guess I'll have to buy it after beat Control.
Great review guys.
Oyziryhs this is the first game I have ever preorder in my life. This game looks phenomenal and I definitely gave into the kinda funny hype train
Do it you won’t be disappointed. 🔥🔥🔥
amazing game . . as a fan of the original game, i love this one with every fiber of my body
So I've been diving in to the Final Fantasy games and I'm playing 7for the first time in preparation for remake and I agree with the cast here, it's good and I like the characters but the story seems to be meandering along. So far I like 9 better because it has a more interesting story with new developments consistently happening and really great characters as well.
Who knows maybe that will change when I beat 7
See I’m the opposite of you on 9. I never felt like I cared about the characters like I did in 7. The story was just ok for me. I love Vivi but his storyline to me didn’t matter to myself. Whether he was or wasn’t didn’t matter to me it only mattered to him. And that’s kind of how I feel about a lot of 9s characters. But almost everything else about 9(besides the music) is better.
God this game was Soo good I think imma have to go back and platinum it after I finish the original on switch. This may be the most stylish game I have ever played.
Just finished ff7 remake (bit late I know) - so I’m back here for the kf review. Lol
Imma watch some videos about the ending though, my ff7 knowledge didn’t help me all that much with this approach sadly.
Tim, there are mature anime written better than Code Geass and Death Note. Not at all tryna gate-keep or anything, just sucks that those two are always your examples of an entire medium when they’re super outdated and generally considered to be bad writing at this point even if they have their fans and are considered fun. It’s like saying Gears of War and Halo are the pinnacle of video game storytelling.
Huh. Where exactly did I insult those shows? I said they’re fun, but really outdated in terms of dialogue as Tim mentioned himself in a previous episode.
Dragon Ball is one of my personal favorite series in general, but I wouldn’t use it as an example of mature storytelling in anime. That’s all I was trying to get across. Not trying to insult anyone’s favorite shows.
Imran the entire episode: 8 )
I cant fucking wait....ff7 is the first game I ever beat.ive been waiting for this moment for a life time!
I wonder if any of you who haven't played or completed the OG will feel inspired to tackle it after this?
I was intrigued before from the demo, but now I'm pretty excited for FFVIIR. I can deal with "some KH bs" and filler side content. The simplistic and unrewarding exploration is a bit of a turn off, but doesn't seem like it'll be enough to hurt the overall experience.
So excited for this game :D
Lexi Anderson same
My question is: if I didn’t like the demo, should I still give it a shot?
Nope if you didnt like the game when it was free what makes you think paying 60 dollars is gonna make you like it more. The demo is exactly what convinced me to buy the game
Flying Wombat Because demos often times throw you into a game without context, and in a jrpg like this, many times the games gets much better after a few hours. But, if the demo is actually representative of the game, then no, not for me.
@@bendecidospr what exactly about the demo did you dislike
Flying Wombat A few things, but I think I can summarize everything by saying it felt like a bad mix between old and new. The game presents itself like a modern game, but is lacking in modern gameplay, and is limited in areas that don’t make sense, like not being able to jump, which is a dumb complaint to most, but it adds up. And then smaller things like dialogue overlapping with each other, the brief pause between using the sword to break something and then moving on; its just tedious, in my opinion. The constant music makes me feel overwhelmed, and just overall didn’t enjoy it. To each his own. I loved the original, and thats enough for me. I just wanted to know if anybody had a similar lacking experience in the demo, and yet loved the game.
@@bendecidospr those were all very nitpicky critiques in my opinion. The combat is very modern especially compared to the old game but still remains tactical. I've yet to see a review complain about the combat. Not being able to jump is only a valid complaint in a platformer, this is not. You couldnt jump in the original either why would you need to jump now I dont think anyone want to have a final fantasy where there is a bunch of jumping and double jumping across gaps that's not what this series is about. As far as the constant music everyone has praised that this is a masterpiece soundtrack and I dont understand the complaint that you have to listen to beautiful music too much. The box break and move complaint is valid but that's a really minor gripe over a game that does sooooo much right. I feel like most people who like the original that dislike this it comes down to they wanted a turn based game if that's the case then fair enough but you gotta realize your probably never gonna geta turn based FF again it's just the way it's going. But I still enjoy this new tactical attraction based combat.
If Advent Children is the specific thing you are talking about when you say Cloud is made out to be super emo, i heavily disagree. He has PTSD in that movie, and is living his worst nightmare of Sephiroth potentially returning. To say that he's just emo for no reason in that movie is a disservice and reductionist view of what that movie is.
This, and he's suffering from advanced Geostigma, which is why he left his family behind.
Exactly the emo argument does not make sense cloud is the way he is in advent children because of the events of ff7 he’s literally battling his own demons and depression
In advent children Cloud is dealing with all the memories that he recovered during the last events of FF7 specially the loss of aerith and zack. He's sick and worst the people closest to him are dying and once again he feels like there's nothing he can do. So he basically stops trying. Advent children is basically Cloud's last chapter as a character when he finnally surpasses everything he went through.
Honestly Advent Children is everything a movie about FF7 should be. A continuation. It gave us some of the best actions scenes ever put on screen at the time, a memorable fight between cloud and sephiroth, some touching moments between cloud and aerith, tifa, zack... It's a movie made for fans of the game. If you never played ff7 you will not understand jack about whats going on with the characters or the movie.
oh dang! greg miller!
Code Geass! Aye! Best ending in anime and full of all the drama.
Great review but I’m only left with one question.. Why hasn’t he got his glasses on???
Man, if this new Remake woulda also dropped on the Switch, I would have finally bought one just to play FF7 remake on it!
It seems that completing each sidequest before advancing to next chapter is the best way to do this game because the trapsing back sounds terrible
If you do the find chocobos side quest first in Chapter 14, you can fast travel everywhere for free.
People say that everyone should play every side quest. Just a heads up. I don't have the game, so...
I don’t know if Tim has played the original recently. I’d love to hear his opinion on this. But I recently replayed it and I found the original mini games dog shit as well.
I feel the same as Imran
Every game video starts out with a little nod to Animal Crossing, haha. I glad this game turned out as special as I was hoping. Makes me wonder how Square Enix will handle when the game opens up a bit. They certainly have their work cut out for them.
