I hear that but I'm 13 hours in and I'm finding it so dreary. The quests are deathly dull and it's all desperately padded.
@@stubie Sidesquests =/= padding. There are actually not many sidequests considering it's a jrpg lmao.

Better Tips:
After staggering the enemy, use Tifa's ∆ commands to increase the stagger bonus (if you have powered up her ∆ a single Rise and Fall followed immediately by Omnistrike will take the enemy to +200% damage) then unleash your other characters most powerful attacks for serious damage.
Level Prayer materia ASAP. It becomes increasingly useful late game to have a party heal for 1 materia slot and 0 MP cost.
Level 1 of each green materia to max and ensure you have Revival materia equipped at all times until levelled as this takes a lot of AP and you're very likely going to be trying to level this late game.
You can use left and right on the D-Pad to quickly cycle through materia.
Press R1 on the materia screen to be able to change everyone's materia at once rather than individually.

Actually, Cloud's counter happens automatically when you block a melee attack in Punisher mode. Timing doesn't matter.

I wish i knew this. I kept pressing square just as i got hit and kept getting damaged.
not true, there are 2 types of counter, the guard auto counter is like what you said, above that there is a guard point counter where you are required for precise timing, it is more powerful and can counter some of the "unguardable" attacks from bosses.

This is my very first time playing ff7. I’ve heard that ff7 is the best one and I gotta say I absolutely love this game. The only other ff games I’ve played are XV and X and this is by far the best one. I love how the combat in this remake is almost like a mix between real time and turn based and they got the balance just right.
Same here bud. Just finished the game yesterday and I'm thinking for playing the original one after getting the platinum trophy on remake.
If you played the original one you would much rather they stayed true to the turned based aspect. Something all the original fans wanted but square ignored.
I was planning on getting this, but not having played any of games from the series will I be lost if I were to buy and play this one?
@@chaissongoo808 Each ff game is its own thing and there’s no crossover between them. So you shouldn’t have an issue understanding ff7 so you should definitely give it a go. It was definitely my goty last year

Despite being the right age for the FF franchise (grew up on atari/nes) never played a FF. I must say I'm hooked so far love this game!

Each weapon you acquire comes with a skill you can learn permanently for each character and the way to learn it permanently is to successfully use it in battle. I believe each use is 10% exp to reach 100% completion. Then switch back to your ideal weapon of choice once learned.

Try block in punisher mode. It will automatically counter most melee attacks.

Glad to keep hearing that items are actually useful now. Back when I played original FF7 I feel like I never used any items & by the end of the game had like 99 of everything.

I still had a lot of items by the end of the game but yea i haven't done hard mode, im sure without items is a challenge.
How do you you upgrade Materia? Fire to Fira?
You can set a main party member, so even if you only control Cloud on the field every time you enter on a battle they switch immediately for the main party member you set. You can start every fight with Tifa or Barret or Aerith.

I wish I knew it wasnt actually a remake, but some weird sequel/reboot and remake was low key the subtitle and thats why it wasnt called episode one or something. They conned us with some re:make bullshit.

Use the arenas if you need to, but the easiest way is post game.
No it's a Rollercoaster game like uncharted
There are spots that respawn that you can grind I've found 2 so far but they do not respawn that fast so it is a slow grind.

That's just wasting materia slots. All you need is one person with healing materia and maybe someone else, that you use the least with Auto-cure, that's it

No thrmey Dont. There is some arena dlots late game though. And you can keep stats from previous playthrough

Azrael Brown Yes they do. As soon as you leave the reactor 1 enemies will respawn if you walk a little bit away and return.

You should teach more advanced stuff like linking materia and the importance of doing battle intel. This is just plain stupid.

Favorite tip and one of my favorite things about the game: Because of the weapon leveling system I got to use the Buster Sword for pretty much the whole game without gimping myself. It has the best all around stats if you level it up right, I would just learn the new weapons ability and then immediately switch back to the Buster Sword.

If only I could wipe your memory. You could love this game if you would just drop your preconceived notions of FF7. Think of this as a TOTALLY different entity. It's a full game. It's not FF7 classic.
Open your mind. And you'll have an amazing time.

It is a full game though, think of it as a reboot that's true to the original as opposed to an out-and-out remake. There's massive additional story lines. It's easy 35 hours of gameplay (and that's without the insane side quests). You get to learn about Tifa, Cloud, EVERYONE in more detail. Biggs and Wedge have personalities. Heck even Jessie has a 2 hour side quest to learn about her parents and flesh out her character.
We're blessed with a FF7 complete universe, jam packed with so much detail that they have the luxury of making one section a complete game in itself.
If you're a real fan, you'd love this opportunity to explore Midgar in more detail, and you'd pay whatever it costs for the pleasure, regardless of if it's one game, two or three.
Man up - get a job, go earn some Gil to buy it.
