My word Tamoor, your closing statement is what I felt and explained to my son as I sat in awe watching the demo’s intro sequence. I told him what has been created here is what I visualized as I played through the original game. I just need to finish Persona 5 then tackle this.
This was a fantastic review, one that came from the heart. It was beautifully worded and easy to see this has come from a true fan of the series, which to me, is always better than a newcomer. This is because the game means something to the reviewer, as it does to fans of the series, and you can truly see how the game is seen through the eyes of somebody who appreciates it. 10/10 review!

I’m glad to finally come across a reviewer who appreciates the side missions for what they are meant to be, instead of bashing them and treating them as a burden like so many others have. Very well done.
Right. The only complaints other reviewers had were "texture pop" and "some of the early side mission are common jrpg tropes." Well, Its a jrpg. It was like they felt they needed to nitpick it to not sound like gushing fans and felt like they couldn't give it a 10 without sounding like "fan boys." My friend and I were saying that would happen last year. But, a mix or 8s, 9s, and 10s is basically how FF always goes. However, Regardless of the scores. The reviews all basically say it is a great game. 👍
I read those comments, and now that I'm playing the game, I honestly don't understand this mentality. The side-missions are fun, and I love being able to explore the slums of Midgar, since it is such a vibrant and colorful place!
yes but we dont forget that capcom did a great work with resident evil 2 remake but sad that resident evil is finished in 7 hours T_T i had more play time in resident evil 2 ... but this remake is from another quality level ... and i really can understand why this game can be released with full content of the original because this game is HUGE !!!! 90gb and 40 - 50 hours of gameplay just for 10 - 15% of the original content ?
now all we need are remakes to dino crisis and parasite eve and ff8 and legend of dragoon remakes and skies of arcadia possibly a return to chrono cross n shadow hearts
The combat in FF7 Remake should be the blueprint for all coming FF games in the future. It truly is the evolution, culmination and perfection for action-oriented strategic rpg combat.
This game getting 10/10 from you guys is a big deal. Thank you for this detailed review. Having finished the game too, I have to agree with most things that was said here.
There’s a reason why FFVII has remained the most popular of the Final Fantasy series. While other entires may have had better gameplay mechanics and arguably better stories, I think FFVII simply has the best cast of characters. Cloud alone is a damn near perfect coming-of-age character. The designs are extremely iconic and haven’t been succeeded since, and the soundtrack is simply masterful.
Strong disagree. Comparing the casts of characters, I'd consider FF7 maybe fifth place in the series. FF12, FF6, FF8, FF9 were all better, and I'd say FFX was just as good in that regard.
@@DragonKnight90001 In the original, leveling to 99 helped but it was the beginning in some ways. Leveling all your Materia, Summons, getting Stat pups through Morph were also ways to power up and if you went all in and took a stat to 255 cap on a level 99 character, capped a materia or summon it was 9999 damage on every hit. You could take down end bosses in one turn.
Picked it up today and playing it now, so far I'm really impressed even with the new scenes that's added in but full on nostalgia hit me when cloud and aerith meet for the first time and her music starts playing 😊
A well made review from a well made game, this is a very honest review that proof the quality over quantity it's always the best way to do a game, other reviewers are expecting the game to be extremely perfect but the point is that a masterpiece always goes beyond perfection.
Thank you for your review. This game truly is what my heart knew this game to be when I was in my pre teen playing the original game in 1997. As the years and decades went by, I always wondered how the world of ff7 could be explored and depicted more than 32 bit era. Oh man I’m old....
This is the first time in my 40 years of life I feel this deeply moved by the ending of a videogame review. This game clearly won your heart, and your review won mine. Congratulations.
I really liked this review. I’ve noticed many FF7R reviews emphasizing the games weaknesses. And it does have them. But I find it odd. What the game does well, it does incredibly well. So much that emphasizing the games flaws as if they are some how comparable to it’s strengths is silly to me. I’ve seen reviews say “a great but flawed game” which makes me think ok, this is a game with strengths and weaknesses that balance. But this is a game with some minor Lows and some major highs. Possibly the greatest soundtrack ever made in a video game. One of the best stories ever told from a JRPG. Amazing graphics and voice acting and story telling. A perfect combat and progression system. The game is an achievement and I hope square does listen to the negative feedback to improve the game for part 2, but I hope everyone who contributed to this games development takes a moment to understand what they have created here. They did the impossible. Remake a classic without utterly enraging it’s cult fan base :), while also making it accessible to newer players and expanding and changing the source.

A true review by a true fan. When I watched the IGN review, I could tell straight away that the reviewer had never played FF7 like I had, over 15 times, hadn't had an imagination beyond the game, didn't spend hours with my like minded friends talking about it. FF7 was never just a game, it was a reality and a dream all in one, it was my escape for when at the time, I was a teenager and needed somewhere to go. FF7 could never get old for me and this remake has delivered what I always imagined it could, with a lot of additional things. Can't wait for the next installments! Can't wait to meet Red XIII, Vincent, Cid and Cait Sith, to fight Sephiroth, to churn exp in the northern crater before fighting weapons and to unleash Bahamut and the KOTR. Fantastic review, I just wish they released the whole saga in one giant 400/500 hour epic, not chopped up into 40hr chunks released over several years, we waited this long, we could've waited a little longer for the full experience
Then it shouldn't be called a remake. They even said that they didn't want to give the impression of a different arc. They lied to sell copies on nostalgia and however good this game may be, that is wrong.
Mr. Horseshoe wait does it follow the same story though or no? Or did they add extra content in between but still follow the original? Yongyea played the original and I don’t think he mentioned anything about the story being different from the original
@@mrcrazy7865 the story is the same, but fleshed out, for the most part. Brand new elements are added early in the form of whispers. This was a beautifully written review. Comprehensive and eloquently delivered. Well done Tamoor and Jean-Luc. I can't wait to see more by you.
I stopped watching GameSpot reviews after they did that BS text pop up thing. Happy to see they're back to creating thorough videos.

I played the OG version of the game, but I haven't played the remake. After watching the 10/10 review I have to play it. It warms my heart good to see a review that's well though out and well put together. It makes the anticipation of playing the game that much more exciting to look forward too. VERY WELL DONE!!!
A much more detailed review than IGN's. I can't wait to get my hands on this GAME, THIS FRIDAY!!!!!
Whao a perfect score. Everyone says this game is legendary so i guess its time to find out.
Scary Hours I have it and everything he says in this review is spot on . Legendary once again
This isn't the original game. 90% of this is a great game, maybe a little too much filler, but great.
But that last 10% is some Kingdom Hearts bullshit that even KH fans are saying was too much.
@@jasonscottsego7311 There is no such thing as to much filler in FF7. That's like saying Mario games have to many stages. Fans of both understand. This is one one the greatest videogame stories ever there will never be enough.

Agreed. Love this game
This is 1 of the best reviews I have seen on the game, it's so nice when a reviewer plays through the whole game!
What amazed me was the fact that when I lost a battle I always learned a little more about strategy without feeling like I was stuck in a rut. I knew I could try something new and get a better result next time. A rare thing in rpgs

One of the best reviews I've ever heard or read. The final line alone is marvelous. Thank you
I still can't believe they made it. Some of us have waited 23 years for this.
And we still waiting, its only a fraction of the whole game.
Jason Small i waited 23 years I finally own it and everything he says In this review is correct . Amazing job I didn’t think they could pull it off but they did
@@sweettooth7625 if what he says is correct perhaps you can explain how the story isn't diminished by the remake literally working against the story of the OG.
I am waiting for 2040 version on ps 8 as well
More like 15 or so
I’m glad to finally come across a reviewer who appreciates the side missions for what they are meant to be, instead of bashing them and treating them as a burden like so many others have.

Final fantasy 7 remake in a nutshell: it's more worth than Resident evil 3
yes but we dont forget that capcom did a great work with resident evil 2 remake but sad that resident evil is finished in 7 hours T_T i had more play time in resident evil 2 ...
but this remake is from another quality level ... and i really can understand why this game can be released with full content of the original because this game is HUGE !!!! 90gb and 40 - 50 hours of gameplay just for 10 - 15% of the original content ?
Why not just get both lol. Both great games, no need to compare as the experiences are different.

Wow it's Uzumaki Khan for real
@Aaron9 Literally thousands of games have a better story than FF7. That's a ridiculous exaggeration.
@@FFFan3445 I think he meant in regards to the Final Fantasy series...
I leveled all my charcters to the max on the original. By the 2nd disc everyone was level 99. Oh, the memories.
......did it help?
@@DragonKnight90001 In the original, leveling to 99 helped but it was the beginning in some ways. Leveling all your Materia, Summons, getting Stat pups through Morph were also ways to power up and if you went all in and took a stat to 255 cap on a level 99 character, capped a materia or summon it was 9999 damage on every hit. You could take down end bosses in one turn.
OcihEvE damn, never played ff7 it was 97 it came out right? I was only born then

Years later and this review is still amazing. Can't wait for the sequel REBIRTH in 4 months!
And... let's be honest here, most of the game's flaws are very minor.

What a dream come true, again 🥰
Fantastic review, I just wish they released the whole saga in one giant 400/500 hour epic, not chopped up into 40hr chunks released over several years, we waited this long, we could've waited a little longer for the full experience
It wouldn't have been a little longer. This project would have taken so much time with the level of detail and care they gave to it
Good thing we won't have to wait another 10 years
They got the engine and all now
I just hope it's less than 3 years
Yeah I'm a huge FF fan, but I think I will wait to have the whole story in one big package on ps5, I just hope it doesn't strech on till PS6!
I'm glad they're doing something new with the story. If I wanted the same exact game, I would just play the original.
Brand new elements are added early in the form of whispers.

less than 2 years would mean a rush job. games take time, even in projects that have a base already set.
Marcos Danilo part two is probably a year or two in development already. They said in interviews before they were already working on part two . I’m guessing late 2021 the earliest. That would be about 3-4 years dev time . I’m thinking will span 3 games .
