This game is a lot tougher than I expected it to be. But Im going to master the hell out of it because of how awesome it is, and this is my first played FF game ever.
Why nobody mentioned that you can use your battle environment to your advantage like hiding behind a container to avoid heavy damage or when you focusing on healing parties safely. The combat system is way more dynamic than I thought... love this!
I didn't use Barret much in the original but in this he's a very useful character in harder battles. Being able to attack and cure from further is great.

The thing I hate the most is that “dodge” isn’t actually a dodge. You still get hit mid “dodge” 🤦♂️

You should have added “dodge roll has no I-frames”
Tifa's uppercut smoothly transitions into her dropkick, she'll initiate it even if she's still mid-air at the time.
Imagine future Pokemon game have this kind of combat system, fighting freely until atb meter charge, then you can thunderbolt them!
