Shinra always blew up the reactor. It was just implied in the original and outright stated in the remake. Jessie remarks a number of times that her bomb shouldn't have done that much damage, and if you look, there was a small explosion followed by a larger one.
No, they didn't. I started playing ff7 again and they never hint at or imply that shinra blew up the reactor. Jessie has one line where she's surprised the explosion was so big. In that same set of dialogue, she also makes it clear she wasn't expecting the explosion to be that big because this was her "debut", as in she had never made a bomb before this and didn't know what to expect.
Jody Boles The whispers (aka the fans) would only intervene when the story diverged from the path of the original FF7. The fans of the original wanted this game to be an expanded but faithful recreation of the core game. Namora made it so the players would _literally_ have to kill fan expectations of the game remaining a faithful remake by killing the Arbiters of fate which can no longer influence characters (in this case the directors of the remake) while they literally ask fan to except that there are changes going forward using Aerith as their medium.

Say all you want about FF 7 Remake, Barrett story and characterization in this game is insane. Especially that bit where the party save president Shinra and Barret immediately ask for the president to clear their name, which immediately refuted by the president on why Barret didn't ask for reactor shut down? It just show that Barrett don't care about saving the planet and stuff, just revenge for Shinra and what they did on coral.
I think Barrett does care but at those moments, when he saw President Shinra in basically the same position as Dyne, but chose to spare him instead of killing him like Shinra did he was overwhelmed with anger.

Kendon L. Taylor By stopping fates intervention, a separate time line is created where Zack lives. The thing is, that’s not the same time line the current cast are in. This Aerith felt how destiny was changed, but still wont be able reunite with Zack in her own timeline.

Avalanche being huge was technically a thing in the original but was only shown in spin-off material like Before Crisis and this reimagining makes it more clear to people and makes it make more sense

They did a poor job. I played the game didnt rush until i got a spoiler which worried me. "Zacks alive" its basically kingdom hearts. Ff7 as weird as it might sound it has some grounding in reality. In a fantasy world. Well the original. The remake it. Doesnt hold true to its own logic. The ending really ruined it. They changed the things that made ff7 ff7. Aerith is literally neo. They ruined it for me.

Exactly. It's really annoying how frequent Sephiroth appears in first part of the game. It down plays his role as an impactful villain and makes him less suspenseful. A little foreshadowing like the original is fine, but not so often that it's in you're face. "hue hue I'm the main villain". That's obnoxious.
I still remember the time when just after beating the Midgar snake (where u needed a chocobo to pass) the a cutscene follows that someone killed it. now that suspense is gone.
Your only saying that because you played the original you baby lol. The suspension is there, he appears more but says almost nothing only speaking one or two riddles. You see a villain full of mystery and you keep asking why is he here what is he doing why did he do that. None of that is answered and in the end you see his power but wonder why not kill cloud why . Alot of questions that he leaves use. He isn't shown as the villain but shown as a mysterious force that has goals no one knows of. Shinra is put as the villain. The dimension boss area thing wasn't him it was all of them braking excaping there destiny. Anyway your perspective is terrible you talking from the perpective of someone who knows the end game story.
I do not think there is an alternate “Zack is alive” timeline, the scene with Zack walking with Cloud is how it plays out in OG FFVII before they changed it in CC to be more dramatic. Likely what we saw is the literal seconds before Zack is shot. Cloud is basically a vegetable at that point so the Shinra Troops just leave him for dead. After beating it myself my assumption is that somehow Sephiroth has managed to travel back in time after being defeated in OG FFVII. It is destiny for the story to play out how it should however, so when Sephiroth gets back to the past he is immediately beset by the Whispers (ie. the manifestation of the will of the planet) who are trying to keep everything on track. So Sephiroth knows everything that will happen but he can’t directly influence/change it because the Whispers always interfere, as evidenced to us when he tries to kill Barret. He knows ultimately however that his fate is to be defeated by Cloud, and Cloud’s fate is to defeat him. And so my theory is that the only way to avert this is if they BOTH decide to do go against destiny (aka the Whispers aka the will of the planet) and do something differently than how we know it happens in OG FFVII. That’s why at the very end Sephiroth asks Cloud to join him, he needs Cloud to choose to change fate as well in order for him to even have a chance avoiding his fated death at his hands. So the reason he has to use all the illusions and cryptic language he does throughout the game is because the Whispers won’t let him just out right tell Cloud the situation PLUS he knows Cloud hates him and would never join him willingly (even tho he tried to get him to in the end). He has to leave all these bread crumbs so that Cloud comes to the conclusion to change fate of his own free will , and then from there who knows what will happen and what Sephiroth’s ultimate goal will be.
I actually really like this theory, and in my eyes, currently, it's the only way they can salvage that ending. I want my OG story and adventure. The additional details and small twists are fine, but changing key plot points is a big no no. However, if we end up more or less going through the same story, but Sephiroth can do some things differently now because there are no arbiters, then I might be on board with that I guess. .... Maybe. I'm still not sure why Zach, Biggs, and presumably Wedge and Jessie are all alive still though.

The whispers of fate inclusion felt super forced into the story. Didn't feel natural at all. They should have stuck to the original source material like they led us to believe.
Roche isn't really a villain, more of a rival. And he was a great addition. The original game Cloud doesn't really interact with any other Soldier's really. Unless you count Sephiroth. So having Shinra use other Soldier's in the game to stop Avalanche was perfect.
So let me get this straight..... Square spared Wedge, brought back to life Biggs (and Jessie too?) and now Zack is alive too? What is next, Aerith is just gonna get scratched in the next game? Take off your mask Square, show to the world, that in reality you are Disney!!!

I played like 40% of the original game when I was a teen, really liked it, but never finished. Believe or not, to this day, I only knew that Aerith dies in the original, but don't even know the ending. So I got the remake almost like a fresh new game, played it to the end and I'll tell you: I loved it. Sorry if the old fans didn't like it, but I'm 100% on board for the next one.
Are going to be? There's been riots over the changes by extra obsessive fans since the game leaked back in January. All in all the changes make for a fresher experience though and should make the next episodes more interesting as well.

Zack dies in the original only when he reaches the edge of the cliff with Cloud, then he gets killed by 2 or 3 guards! so I don’t get why you could asume that theory because of a bag of chips! I don’t get it

In CC he´s also shown getting kill by 3 men, just that they dont show Zack carrying Cloud, that part is cutted. Either way, now I think this all was purposely done so we could not say for sure
You said it yourself. The dog in the the bag of chips is proof that it's an alternate timeline. The original one has a Beagle. The alternate timeline has a border terrier therefore they're 2 different timelines.
The bag of chips bears the same mascot in Stamp, but Stamp looks entirely different than the one we see very consistently throughout the story. They wouldn't have changed how Stamp looks in a matter of days, and Cloud has Zack's sword throughout the entirety of the campaign. Hard to do that if Zack is still alive in that timeline
This is an alternate timeline of ff7. Since the whispers of fate are all dead, it has changed fate of all character. The explosion zack saw is the entire fate of midgar being changed. Zack ends up defeating those 3 soldiers and the damn helicopter. Even his wounds got healed.... Most likely zack will hand over his buster sword to younger cloud and he will end up in future timeline somehow to join the gang. So guys let's not complain about this change it is 110% possible that even aerith might get saved one or another. This isn't Original....so please don't hate. I am sure this game will surpass our expectations in future installments of the game parts.
So in that way it's also making the original cannon, i'd say that makes this the best remake ever, Especially since all fans wanted Zack back. Aerith not dying seems like something that might not be avoided on purpose by the whispers. I honestly never expected them to do this and this makes me want to play the orginal even more knowing this is technically FF7 part 2.
I thought Sephiroth was trying to change the timeline, hence Zac’s survival as a way to improve his odds of surviving the final battle against Cloud from the original game. I thought this was an idea he chose to do using the lifestream and the whispers represent beings that try to keep the timeline intact, hence why one attacked Jessie. I figure in part 2 the whispers may come for Biggs and Wedge and try to readjust their destinies.
I enjoyed some of the changes they made. Although I really don’t like the Whispers. They do nothing to improve the original story, and seem really out of place... as if they escaped from Kingdom Hearts. That said, I’m disappointed at how Sephiroth is presented here. As said in the video, he was more of an enigma, but is here now and acting like an Omniscient being. Walking in a building and disappearing whenever he sees fit... acting so cocky, with his taunting and smirking. He used to be just a serious guy who believed in what he did, and new he had the power to do it. Also the end of chapt 16 was a shame. I had chills when seeing everything so bloody and not knowing what was going on, and later finding the president who we searched for already dead... the ending got pretty messy.
Venichie agreed! I didn’t even like Roche but I didn’t mind since he didn’t affect the story that much and only appeared a couple times. But the Whispers were the epitome of deus ex machina! At first I liked that they were showing Sephiroth, but they definitely overdid it in this game. Too many unnecessary flashbacks/hallucinations that weren’t in the original game.
The introduction of the Whispers and "omniscient" Sephiroth aren't there to improve the original story. These elements make Remake as a "sequel" to the original story, telling us an alternate timeline. For reasons unknown, the Remake Sephiroth seems to be from the future (?), knowing the events from the original story and his eventual demise, and thus now attempting to change the narrative, with the Whispers trying to prevent that, to keep the original story play out as it was.
Hard to avoid talking spoilers here, but it's not the Whisper's role to improve the original story. As mentioned in the video, their entire existence is dedicated to ensuring that destiny plays out as it's supposed to. One you understand what "destiny" is in this context, it makes more sense.

It does make more sense looking at it that way rather than original being changed, i do believe though that its misleading advertising.
Still shocked about the addition of TRASHPERs into the story, when they've been marketing it as a remake of the original game the entire time. During the last fights, i couldn't tell if i was playing KH or FF7. Would have been little better if they told that they were changing the story entirely. Truly enjoyed playing the game (esp the new combat system) making myself remember back when i first played FF7 until the last chapter.
When Zach is still alive I riot I cried waaaay to much by playing crisis core its my most beloved game of all time because of that great story and dialogs don't make it useless.....
The final scene of the remake implies that Zack is still dead in the timeline of the actual remake. The scene where Zack lives (if he really lives) is implied to take place in a completely different third timeline. The character's we are following in the game wouldn't even be aware of its existence.

Without Zack's death, There is no cloud's story. I guess he died but perhaps in some other way. Who knows. We'll see, hope developers will later explain that cause i'm little pissed. Still i'm curious what team thinks about that now everything won't be different like it should be

Some changes are really bad. The one with Whispers reeks of Kingdom Hearts. There was no need for that. I finished the game 2 days ago and didn't like most of the changes.

I suspect that in one of the sequels to the remakes (perhaps in the final game) there's going to be a moment where the singularities of the different timelines converge which allows Zack to (maybe briefly) help Cloud in his final battle with Sephiroth. Then there may be a touching moment where Cloud desperately wants to be where Zack is, however Zack advises him not to go. This then makes Cloud accept the reality of his timeline and is finally able to move on with the closure he needed. Probably. Maybe. Idk lol
I feel like his death just might play out different the cliff they walk to in the ending is where he dies & they walk away from that cliff. sounds like a simple flashback. Its a remake his death can play out different or someone else can kill him when they reach that cliff & maybe even a whisper/specter might help ensure his fate. You can think he’s alive but please don’t get your hopes up, or hate on the game thinking they changed such a important death. Take his “MAYBE” seriously.

I’m OK with most of the changes since most of them just expand on what was already there. I understand that and remake some things change. I expected that. What I don’t want, however, is for the main story beats of the original story to be changed. I have one of the remake so I could share it With the younger generations in my family who are not around for the original, and balked at the graphics. I had hoped that this would be the original story with a new coat of paint and nothing more. That’s what I wanted. Now there are still ways to make the whispers work so that they aren’t detrimental to the original story, however that last hour of the game certainly implies that they have plans to meet major changes that fundamentally transform remake into a reboot. And if they had intended to do a reboot, I would rather they be upfront about that.

So many games try to justify changes with narrative plot devices like Mortal Kombat when those plot devices only explain some of the changes, not all of them, and may as well not even bother.
Zack is not even alive it's a mix of crisis core and the original.. in the original u don't see him fighting loads of soldiers while in crisis core u do? So the scene in the remake is him walking away to be killed by the 3 soldiers it's simple

IGN of all places is one of the few places with an honest review / coverage of this game. The other big websites are basically in denial about this game being unfaithful to the original. For 5 years Square has been pulling the wool over our eyes about what this game even is.
That’s what you get when you let Tetsuya Nomura direct a game. I got a bad feeling they’ll do some those convoluted nonsense crap like in Kingdom Hearts.
3:41 Sephiroth did not break into the Shinra building unleashing Jenova in a specific form. The "Sephiroth" we see is only a part of Jenova breaking into the building to free another part of Jenova that was held captive in Hojo's laboratory. Meaning : the many black-cloaked men with numbers on them are, in fact, failed experiments of Jenova parts transplantation and mutation, and one of Jenova's alien several properties is to reunite. Like in the original game, the real Sephiroth is not even here, but is probably sleeping in the northern cave waiting for the reunion of the many jenova parts, which are supposed to bring him the black materia by the way. All of this is part of Jenova's plan. Well... At least that WAS the story, before Nomura included another Marvel Sephiroth from another time-line for another story.
For that last bit, if I were to guess what will happen later down the line, because Zack defied his fate in the alternate timeline, he will somehow intervene in the actual timeline on a few occasions. Like maybe when Tifa is helping Cloud restore his memory after suffering from Mako addiction again.
By defeating the Whispers of Fate the changed the fate aka the original timeline of events of FF7 so anything goes. She literally says that : Fate has changed.
I have a feeling the entire point of setting up this "change our fates" plot element is that when she inevitably dies, people will be shocked all over again! Genius.
I think that by defeating Fate, they ENSURED her death. In a vision they received in the last chapter, they watch Meteor crashing into the planet without the Lifestream defending it. That can only happen if Aerith doesnt die and influence the Lifestream to act. If anything, I think that the Arbiter of Fate was showing that destiny is in Sephiroth's favor with his plan succeeding, while Aerith will choose to sacrifice herself to be able to stop Meteor from happening.
They're planning some kind of twist to this. They were putting a lot of emphasis on changing fate, and the future that they saw during the final fight with the Whispers seemed more or less like revamped scenes from the original game, and Advent Children, I think? Not really sure. Though, I don't think they could top Aerith's death, but I'm still really excited to see what Square has up their sleeve with the next part. Plus, Zack isn't necessarily alive, he just survived the ambush.
One thing I've always been wondering is didn't anyone from shinra ever recognized cloud while in the remake someone actually does remember him finally someone does
There is a scene in the remake where a Shinra Security Officer recognizes him and mentions Kunsel. The officer leaves and Barrett asks Cloud whether that was an old buddy of his. Cloud does not say much.
They probably didn't feel the need to make note of a lowly infantryman. Cloud was a nobody so there wasn't any point/likelihood they would remember his name or what he looked like

The original had a whole slew of material cut out due to time constraints. I believe they've incorporated a lot of thst discarded material back into the game as well ss modified other parts for continuity.
When SE make ff1 & ff2 with new graphic and logo on psp, they never call them remake and the story remain untouch with some extra stuff. When SE make ff3 & ff4 on NDS in actual 3D world and new logo, they never called them remake and the story remain untouch with some extra stuff. When the new ff7 have the word REMAKE on the title with the same logo, but in 3D, it never the same story but an alternate retelling of ff7. The word remake in the title means the game story is about changing the original story (fate defying).

They should have remade FF8 first, that story was more condilited and could have used a little more filler in some areas for case of the story. FF8 is personally my fave, but 7's story was perfection as it was, and didnt need anything added.

Maybe the characters went in the singularity. From the original Timeline and came out in a different timeline. The Timeline where zack is alive. Because Aerith can sense when someone is alive and when someone dies. So she could have sensed that Zack is alive again. And Zack could play a key role in the next game. Drastically changing the story. So you could technically say FF7 remake is a remake of the midgar portion of the game and the next section of the game will be a whole new story with small similarities to the orginal.
What I think is happening is that someone messed with the original timeline(aka original FF7) which as result is FF7 remake. This is why when something drastic happens like Barret dying the whispers come to correct the timeline. When it’s Aerith’s turn to die the whispers won’t come and save her because she was originally meant to die anyway. Or perhaps she won’t be killed by Sephiroth so the whispers will actually try and kill her to correct the timeline.

Audigious That just gave me another Idea. If Zach survived and my theory is correct then it means that the whispers want him dead too. Whispers may be undying themselves and can only be temporarily rid of. Zack has been living his days Like some kind of Whispers slayer. This can be what reunites him and Aerith. They are both cursed by defying destiny. Also this reminds me of Final Destination and Whispers look like Grim Reapers. I should make a video on this theory l.
The whispers are the manifestation of salty people complaining that this game is not exactly like the original as they work to correct the events as to how they played out 23 years ago.
People saying that Zack being alive is just a flashback are forgetting the fact that he gets knocked down by the blast radius after the defeat of the Harbinger in what seems to be the same time as Cloud and friends defeated it in Midgar. It's confusing as hell.
@mini Wanton I know. I love that they expanded alot on the original game but I wouldn't have minded if they waited a few more years and released it all at once or took longer till they had almost everything done and released the episodes with a smaller interval between releases
To make it simple: Original timeline (All compilations BC, CC, FFVII, AC, DoC), REMAKE timeline (The one we played and is likely to make Aerith survive), New Timeline (Whispers dead Zack surviving). They're all gonna be connected somehow at some point.

This could have just been the next final fantasy. Yea it's cool game,.no it's no where near as cool as the original. I hate the idea of everything has to be an action rpg. Again I did like it, just not as final fantasy 7. This game was supposed to originally be for the fans to make up for shitty final fantasy games the last decade. The remake will not create the level of nostalgia with added filler/over explanation and entirely changing how materia/combat works. Just my opinion. I'd play a true hd remaster all day over this version.
I have a theory about Zack still being alive. What if after he leaves Cloud at Midgar, Zack slowly becomes Sephiroth because of the cells? and the person Cloud fights whenever he fights Sephiroth is actually Zack
There's been a theory going on that says this remake's version of Sephiroth is the one from Advent Children because of having the black wing. This means he traveled back in time to mess up Cloud's history in order to succeed in his plans. So basically: Before Crisis > Crisis Core > FF7 > Dirge of Cerberus > Advent Children > FF7:R

They werent in the original and their roles in the remake really suggests a tear in time continuity. They make sure dead people stay dead (as they were seen around the shinra troops) and people who lived are saved (as per barret's case). I wont be surprised if theres a chance to save Aerith somewhere down the line because of how thing's are altered.
Whispers have to be the stupidest addition to this remake along side Roche. This game wont have a lasting appeal like the original to play over and over again. It seems that SE added these things in for the sake of having a 30 hour game.

Aerith is so MONOTONE. Same with Sephiroth. I don't like them possibly introducing time travel in the FF7 remake. Why? Because time travel ruins any meaning of your choices, including the death of certain characters. In fact, it makes any choice you make, meaningless.

I don't get why people are angry, it's a remake, not a remaster. Everything is remade, and that includes the story and it's canon, even if some parts of the story is the same as the original, there will be new things added to it because it's a full remake. People should've realized that the story was gonna be different with how they introduced a new character as well as some new stuff added to the story that the trailers showed.

Shinra always blew up the reactor. It was just implied in the original and outright stated in the remake. Jessie remarks a number of times that her bomb shouldn't have done that much damage, and if you look, there was a small explosion followed by a larger one.
No, they didn't. I started playing ff7 again and they never hint at or imply that shinra blew up the reactor.
Jessie has one line where she's surprised the explosion was so big. In that same set of dialogue, she also makes it clear she wasn't expecting the explosion to be that big because this was her "debut", as in she had never made a bomb before this and didn't know what to expect.

Jody Boles The whispers (aka the fans) would only intervene when the story diverged from the path of the original FF7. The fans of the original wanted this game to be an expanded but faithful recreation of the core game. Namora made it so the players would _literally_ have to kill fan expectations of the game remaining a faithful remake by killing the Arbiters of fate which can no longer influence characters (in this case the directors of the remake) while they literally ask fan to except that there are changes going forward using Aerith as their medium.
This is what I think also, the whisper is bringing all characters following the story line supposed to be....

Say all you want about FF 7 Remake, Barrett story and characterization in this game is insane. Especially that bit where the party save president Shinra and Barret immediately ask for the president to clear their name, which immediately refuted by the president on why Barret didn't ask for reactor shut down? It just show that Barrett don't care about saving the planet and stuff, just revenge for Shinra and what they did on coral.
I think Barrett does care but at those moments, when he saw President Shinra in basically the same position as Dyne, but chose to spare him instead of killing him like Shinra did he was overwhelmed with anger.

Exactly. It's really annoying how frequent Sephiroth appears in first part of the game. It down plays his role as an impactful villain and makes him less suspenseful. A little foreshadowing like the original is fine, but not so often that it's in you're face. "hue hue I'm the main villain". That's obnoxious.

I still remember the time when just after beating the Midgar snake (where u needed a chocobo to pass) the a cutscene follows that someone killed it. now that suspense is gone.
Your only saying that because you played the original you baby lol. The suspension is there, he appears more but says almost nothing only speaking one or two riddles. You see a villain full of mystery and you keep asking why is he here what is he doing why did he do that. None of that is answered and in the end you see his power but wonder why not kill cloud why . Alot of questions that he leaves use. He isn't shown as the villain but shown as a mysterious force that has goals no one knows of. Shinra is put as the villain. The dimension boss area thing wasn't him it was all of them braking excaping there destiny. Anyway your perspective is terrible you talking from the perpective of someone who knows the end game story.

I do not think there is an alternate “Zack is alive” timeline, the scene with Zack walking with Cloud is how it plays out in OG FFVII before they changed it in CC to be more dramatic. Likely what we saw is the literal seconds before Zack is shot. Cloud is basically a vegetable at that point so the Shinra Troops just leave him for dead.
After beating it myself my assumption is that somehow Sephiroth has managed to travel back in time after being defeated in OG FFVII. It is destiny for the story to play out how it should however, so when Sephiroth gets back to the past he is immediately beset by the Whispers (ie. the manifestation of the will of the planet) who are trying to keep everything on track. So Sephiroth knows everything that will happen but he can’t directly influence/change it because the Whispers always interfere, as evidenced to us when he tries to kill Barret. He knows ultimately however that his fate is to be defeated by Cloud, and Cloud’s fate is to defeat him. And so my theory is that the only way to avert this is if they BOTH decide to do go against destiny (aka the Whispers aka the will of the planet) and do something differently than how we know it happens in OG FFVII. That’s why at the very end Sephiroth asks Cloud to join him, he needs Cloud to choose to change fate as well in order for him to even have a chance avoiding his fated death at his hands. So the reason he has to use all the illusions and cryptic language he does throughout the game is because the Whispers won’t let him just out right tell Cloud the situation PLUS he knows Cloud hates him and would never join him willingly (even tho he tried to get him to in the end). He has to leave all these bread crumbs so that Cloud comes to the conclusion to change fate of his own free will , and then from there who knows what will happen and what Sephiroth’s ultimate goal will be.
The scene where Zack is carrying Cloud as they walk past alternate Cloud and Aerith takes place AFTER the fight with the ShinRa soldiers.
Uh didn’t Zack say he got them all though? Like who was there to shoot him then?

I actually really like this theory, and in my eyes, currently, it's the only way they can salvage that ending. I want my OG story and adventure. The additional details and small twists are fine, but changing key plot points is a big no no. However, if we end up more or less going through the same story, but Sephiroth can do some things differently now because there are no arbiters, then I might be on board with that I guess.

Roche isn't really a villain, more of a rival. And he was a great addition. The original game Cloud doesn't really interact with any other Soldier's really. Unless you count Sephiroth. So having Shinra use other Soldier's in the game to stop Avalanche was perfect.
Roche was one of the let downs.

I played like 40% of the original game when I was a teen, really liked it, but never finished. Believe or not, to this day, I only knew that Aerith dies in the original, but don't even know the ending. So I got the remake almost like a fresh new game, played it to the end and I'll tell you: I loved it. Sorry if the old fans didn't like it, but I'm 100% on board for the next one.

You said it yourself. The dog in the the bag of chips is proof that it's an alternate timeline. The original one has a Beagle. The alternate timeline has a border terrier therefore they're 2 different timelines.
The bag of chips bears the same mascot in Stamp, but Stamp looks entirely different than the one we see very consistently throughout the story. They wouldn't have changed how Stamp looks in a matter of days, and Cloud has Zack's sword throughout the entirety of the campaign. Hard to do that if Zack is still alive in that timeline

Since the whispers of fate are all dead, it has changed fate of all character.
The explosion zack saw is the entire fate of midgar being changed.
Zack ends up defeating those 3 soldiers and the damn helicopter.
Even his wounds got healed....
Most likely zack will hand over his buster sword to younger cloud and he will end up in future timeline somehow to join the gang.
So guys let's not complain about this change it is 110% possible that even aerith might get saved one or another.

So in that way it's also making the original cannon, i'd say that makes this the best remake ever, Especially since all fans wanted Zack back. Aerith not dying seems like something that might not be avoided on purpose by the whispers. I honestly never expected them to do this and this makes me want to play the orginal even more knowing this is technically FF7 part 2.

I thought Sephiroth was trying to change the timeline, hence Zac’s survival as a way to improve his odds of surviving the final battle against Cloud from the original game. I thought this was an idea he chose to do using the lifestream and the whispers represent beings that try to keep the timeline intact, hence why one attacked Jessie. I figure in part 2 the whispers may come for Biggs and Wedge and try to readjust their destinies.
I enjoyed some of the changes they made. Although I really don’t like the Whispers. They do nothing to improve the original story, and seem really out of place... as if they escaped from Kingdom Hearts.
That said, I’m disappointed at how Sephiroth is presented here. As said in the video, he was more of an enigma, but is here now and acting like an Omniscient being. Walking in a building and disappearing whenever he sees fit... acting so cocky, with his taunting and smirking. He used to be just a serious guy who believed in what he did, and new he had the power to do it.
Also the end of chapt 16 was a shame. I had chills when seeing everything so bloody and not knowing what was going on, and later finding the president who we searched for already dead... the ending got pretty messy.
Venichie agreed! I didn’t even like Roche but I didn’t mind since he didn’t affect the story that much and only appeared a couple times. But the Whispers were the epitome of deus ex machina! At first I liked that they were showing Sephiroth, but they definitely overdid it in this game. Too many unnecessary flashbacks/hallucinations that weren’t in the original game.
The introduction of the Whispers and "omniscient" Sephiroth aren't there to improve the original story. These elements make Remake as a "sequel" to the original story, telling us an alternate timeline. For reasons unknown, the Remake Sephiroth seems to be from the future (?), knowing the events from the original story and his eventual demise, and thus now attempting to change the narrative, with the Whispers trying to prevent that, to keep the original story play out as it was.
Hard to avoid talking spoilers here, but it's not the Whisper's role to improve the original story. As mentioned in the video, their entire existence is dedicated to ensuring that destiny plays out as it's supposed to. One you understand what "destiny" is in this context, it makes more sense.

It does make more sense looking at it that way rather than original being changed, i do believe though that its misleading advertising.
Still shocked about the addition of TRASHPERs into the story, when they've been marketing it as a remake of the original game the entire time. During the last fights, i couldn't tell if i was playing KH or FF7. Would have been little better if they told that they were changing the story entirely. Truly enjoyed playing the game (esp the new combat system) making myself remember back when i first played FF7 until the last chapter.

When Zach is still alive I riot I cried waaaay to much by playing crisis core its my most beloved game of all time because of that great story and dialogs don't make it useless.....
The final scene of the remake implies that Zack is still dead in the timeline of the actual remake. The scene where Zack lives (if he really lives) is implied to take place in a completely different third timeline. The character's we are following in the game wouldn't even be aware of its existence.

Biggest Story Change? Cloud and the gang all got a HUGE personality upgrade! They feel more alive in their dialogue. Congrats to the voice actors!!
I suspect that in one of the sequels to the remakes (perhaps in the final game) there's going to be a moment where the singularities of the different timelines converge which allows Zack to (maybe briefly) help Cloud in his final battle with Sephiroth. Then there may be a touching moment where Cloud desperately wants to be where Zack is, however Zack advises him not to go. This then makes Cloud accept the reality of his timeline and is finally able to move on with the closure he needed. Probably. Maybe. Idk lol

the cliff they walk to in the ending is where he dies & they walk away from that cliff. sounds like a simple flashback. Its a remake his death can play out different or someone else can kill him when they reach that cliff & maybe even a whisper/specter might help ensure his fate. You can think he’s alive but please don’t get your hopes up, or hate on the game thinking they changed such a important death. Take his “MAYBE” seriously.

I’m OK with most of the changes since most of them just expand on what was already there. I understand that and remake some things change. I expected that. What I don’t want, however, is for the main story beats of the original story to be changed. I have one of the remake so I could share it With the younger generations in my family who are not around for the original, and balked at the graphics. I had hoped that this would be the original story with a new coat of paint and nothing more. That’s what I wanted. Now there are still ways to make the whispers work so that they aren’t detrimental to the original story, however that last hour of the game certainly implies that they have plans to meet major changes that fundamentally transform remake into a reboot. And if they had intended to do a reboot, I would rather they be upfront about that.

So many games try to justify changes with narrative plot devices like Mortal Kombat when those plot devices only explain some of the changes, not all of them, and may as well not even bother.
Zack is not even alive it's a mix of crisis core and the original.. in the original u don't see him fighting loads of soldiers while in crisis core u do? So the scene in the remake is him walking away to be killed by the 3 soldiers it's simple

IGN of all places is one of the few places with an honest review / coverage of this game. The other big websites are basically in denial about this game being unfaithful to the original. For 5 years Square has been pulling the wool over our eyes about what this game even is.

That’s what you get when you let Tetsuya Nomura direct a game. I got a bad feeling they’ll do some those convoluted nonsense crap like in Kingdom Hearts.
3:41 Sephiroth did not break into the Shinra building unleashing Jenova in a specific form. The "Sephiroth" we see is only a part of Jenova breaking into the building to free another part of Jenova that was held captive in Hojo's laboratory. Meaning : the many black-cloaked men with numbers on them are, in fact, failed experiments of Jenova parts transplantation and mutation, and one of Jenova's alien several properties is to reunite.
Like in the original game, the real Sephiroth is not even here, but is probably sleeping in the northern cave waiting for the reunion of the many jenova parts, which are supposed to bring him the black materia by the way. All of this is part of Jenova's plan.
Well... At least that WAS the story, before Nomura included another Marvel Sephiroth from another time-line for another story.
For that last bit, if I were to guess what will happen later down the line, because Zack defied his fate in the alternate timeline, he will somehow intervene in the actual timeline on a few occasions. Like maybe when Tifa is helping Cloud restore his memory after suffering from Mako addiction again.
As long as Aerith’s fate remains the same the original story will still be mostly intact.

I have a feeling the entire point of setting up this "change our fates" plot element is that when she inevitably dies, people will be shocked all over again! Genius.
I think that by defeating Fate, they ENSURED her death. In a vision they received in the last chapter, they watch Meteor crashing into the planet without the Lifestream defending it. That can only happen if Aerith doesnt die and influence the Lifestream to act. If anything, I think that the Arbiter of Fate was showing that destiny is in Sephiroth's favor with his plan succeeding, while Aerith will choose to sacrifice herself to be able to stop Meteor from happening.
They're planning some kind of twist to this. They were putting a lot of emphasis on changing fate, and the future that they saw during the final fight with the Whispers seemed more or less like revamped scenes from the original game, and Advent Children, I think? Not really sure. Though, I don't think they could top Aerith's death, but I'm still really excited to see what Square has up their sleeve with the next part. Plus, Zack isn't necessarily alive, he just survived the ambush.
This is undoubtedly my worst case scenario playing out when I first heard they were making a Final Fantasy 7 remake.

They probably didn't feel the need to make note of a lowly infantryman. Cloud was a nobody so there wasn't any point/likelihood they would remember his name or what he looked like

Maybe the characters went in the singularity. From the original Timeline and came out in a different timeline. The Timeline where zack is alive. Because Aerith can sense when someone is alive and when someone dies. So she could have sensed that Zack is alive again. And Zack could play a key role in the next game. Drastically changing the story. So you could technically say FF7 remake is a remake of the midgar portion of the game and the next section of the game will be a whole new story with small similarities to the orginal.
For me who didn't know anything about the original, the end of this game is really confusing :')

What I think is happening is that someone messed with the original timeline(aka original FF7) which as result is FF7 remake. This is why when something drastic happens like Barret dying the whispers come to correct the timeline. When it’s Aerith’s turn to die the whispers won’t come and save her because she was originally meant to die anyway. Or perhaps she won’t be killed by Sephiroth so the whispers will actually try and kill her to correct the timeline.

Audigious That just gave me another Idea. If Zach survived and my theory is correct then it means that the whispers want him dead too. Whispers may be undying themselves and can only be temporarily rid of. Zack has been living his days Like some kind of Whispers slayer. This can be what reunites him and Aerith. They are both cursed by defying destiny. Also this reminds me of Final Destination and Whispers look like Grim Reapers. I should make a video on this theory l.

This could have just been the next final fantasy. Yea it's cool game,.no it's no where near as cool as the original. I hate the idea of everything has to be an action rpg. Again I did like it, just not as final fantasy 7. This game was supposed to originally be for the fans to make up for shitty final fantasy games the last decade. The remake will not create the level of nostalgia with added filler/over explanation and entirely changing how materia/combat works. Just my opinion. I'd play a true hd remaster all day over this version.

There's been a theory going on that says this remake's version of Sephiroth is the one from Advent Children because of having the black wing. This means he traveled back in time to mess up Cloud's history in order to succeed in his plans. So basically: Before Crisis > Crisis Core > FF7 > Dirge of Cerberus > Advent Children > FF7:R

They didn't show him dying because he's shot later. It's a not ended scene with cc and og combined or something. I think They will be some changes in The story but won't be big
@@KnightmareFile That seems pretty far fetched if the wing is all they're going by. More likely Nomura just thought the winged Sephiroth design looked cooler and said to himself "Yeah, I'm using that one."

@@-TheCapedCrusader- that's what i thought too. Zack must've been assassinated somewhere right before or after midgard. But the whispers are whats making the theory make sense somehow. They werent in the original and their roles in the remake really suggests a tear in time continuity. They make sure dead people stay dead (as they were seen around the shinra troops) and people who lived are saved (as per barret's case). I wont be surprised if theres a chance to save Aerith somewhere down the line because of how thing's are altered.

Whispers have to be the stupidest addition to this remake along side Roche. This game wont have a lasting appeal like the original to play over and over again. It seems that SE added these things in for the sake of having a 30 hour game.

Zack can't be alive because Cloud has his buster sword and memories", do none of you understand the meaning of alternate timelines? Just because Zack might be alive in one timeline doesn't mean it'll effect the one we're playing. He's clearly still dead in THIS timeline.
The revelations of the remake has convinced me that FF7 uber fans are ridiculous and willfully missing the point because they think the remake is "shitting on their childhood memories" and making their "tears worth nothing." We don't even know how everything is going to resolve yet so they need to frigging chill. It's not that serious.
@@belias360 exactly, based on the interviews with the creators it is obvious that they are very adamant about being true to the original, while also making sure even original fans will not know exactly how things will go. The whispers are simply a way of communicating that; don't sit back and relax, because the future is not set in stone

@@domx7zero157 It is clearly a different timeline. Like they state in the ending explained video, the difference in the Stamp mascot is the key. Why else would the shot focus on a snack package? That is a different timeline Zack that is alive.
Aerith is so MONOTONE. Same with Sephiroth. I don't like them possibly introducing time travel in the FF7 remake. Why? Because time travel ruins any meaning of your choices, including the death of certain characters. In fact, it makes any choice you make, meaningless.

I don't get why people are angry, it's a remake, not a remaster.
Everything is remade, and that includes the story and it's canon, even if some parts of the story is the same as the original, there will be new things added to it because it's a full remake.
People should've realized that the story was gonna be different with how they introduced a new character as well as some new stuff added to the story that the trailers showed.
