Is Air Canada still awful? Today i'm flying Air Canada in a surprise review onboard their Boeing 787 Dreamliner. After my last awful experience, it's time to find out how they perform with their reintroduced Signature Business Class product. I'll be departing from their flagship Toronto YYZ airport and, as i'm now allowed to enter Canada i'll be reviewing their ground experience, lounges all whilst maintaining a low profile. The aim today is to not have the same issues as last time (see previous review) or indeed the curated PR flight I was presented with back in June.
My trip report today will encompass all elements of the onboard experience, food service, bedding, a seat tour and in this instance how 'friendly' the crew are. As usual i'm totally honest and open about my travel, so you'll see this though the lense of an ordinary passenger rather than certain RUclipsr's who give an unrealistic advertorial walk through of their flights..
As always let me know what you think in the comments below, do you have a recent experience with Air Canada Business Class? How does this change your view on my previous awful experience?

Hey guys 😀 so as always I value your feedback and take onboard what you say seriously. I’ve amended the title of this video to reflect the consensus of what’s been commented here. I’m not chasing a click bait title, my rational was to put the viewer in my position going into this flight (I.e disappointed by my last experience / not wanting a PR fan fair). I hope you understand but most of all thanks for watching and your continued support of the channel. Much love 🙏🏼
Thank you for changing the title.
Are you going to update the thumbnail too?
Thank you for changing the title. In a funny way this situation was kinda analogous with your last AC experience 😁. Resubbed and liked :)
My apologies again Max. Thank you so much for resubbing and your like
The ? makes all the diff! Loved the neat informative video, and appreciate this follow-up video, otherwise my AC impression would still be based on the last video. Back to thumbs up!
YES, F-ing FINALLY. Was waiting for so long for a new post. And I loved the subtle Sam Chuí😂
That one wasnt one of the subtle ones lol....it was bleeping bleeped
I keep seeing Sam Chui in comments, and he makes little jokes about it... What's that all about?
@@キラキラくりくり頭 Sam chui is a “airline reviewer” in reality, he says all the good things and ignores the bad. He is basically a walking talking ad. He also makes unreasonable requests from the crew when he isn’t filming, and just makes the staff and others genuinely uncomfortable.
@@wolfofwisdom360 I see. Thanks for the explanation. Lol, your username seems rather appropriate.
@@キラキラくりくり頭 np
I flew this exact flight and had the same impression…..superb….even more so as the service director was stellar….introducing herself to all biz class pax individually. When I commended her on the experience she cried. Good crews need to be commended. I wrote a note to AC after my flight.
AC service/game can be horrible. Just search youtube for "air canada vomit" and see how cabin staff, especially a pilot, treat customers.
I’m sure they knew you are coming since the moment you booked a ticket. I was a flight attendant for 9 years and we always knew about “special passengers”, history of why they are special, what to expect from them, given clear instructions how to react and how to interact with them it’s all being told firstly to purser and then passed on by purser to the rest of the crew during the pre flight briefing.
Yup, they definitely know and I am pretty suspicious of his ticket being a complimentary one for a new *more positive* review!
This is exactly what I was thinking the whole time I was watching the video.
No passenger should have to be considered 'special' enough in order to be afforded common-sense courtesy by the crew/staff. It is also known as equal treatment under the law.
Hear that, everyone? So all one has to do to get courteous treatment on an airline is 1) start your own YT channel 2) have it specialize in travel review videos, and 3) once enough viewers/followers accumulate to make you renowned and/or notorious for your reviews, post a really trashing summary of an airline trip, and they then put you on a flag list to "know when you're coming" again, so they can treat you like a king and then they'll get really fabulous reviews! Good to know how the system works----and really, shouldn't.
Im just some guy and the experience i have had is pretty much exactly what has been presented here on the last 4 business flights I've taken with AC in the last 6 months post harsh covid restrictions.
its not some mind bending experience, but its been comfortable and enjoyable.
I like how your reviews are honest and NOT sponsored by the airline unlike some of these other review channels.
Sam *Cough*ui
@@zhangjeff238 he does not praise Air Canada
You do understand they had to know he was on the plain right? Have you ever tried booking an airline ticket without giving your name?
This experience (regardless of your previous unfortunate flight with them)* Seemed...not awful
there a question mark my guy?
@@acel2413 I think he’s getting some flack because the title originally lacked a question mark. Most of the comments (like this one) are justified constructive criticism, though there are a few irrational ones (this is the internet after all).
@@biggielittle1384 oh my bad my appologiez
I’ve noticed that Air Canada doesn’t treat their “sun destinations” passengers as well as their other passengers…which would explain why the Mexico flight was so bad. I often visit family in the Caribbean and take Air Canada: the planes, the crew and service are usually not good. Had a horrible experience when travelling with my pets and swore never to take Air Canada again. The crew treated me like pariah. I had travelled with pets before and never had any issues.
Oh god this makes me so nervous bc I might be flying AC with my service dog later this year😭
That is so sad to hear. Service should be consistently high for every destination.
I fly Air canada, but I usually fly around the north part of north america. I'm suprised!
Flew the opposite direction at the end of September as part of a trip back to the East coast with a lay-over in Toronto. I must say the flight, service and food on the Vancouver to Toronto flight were was well done. My only note would be that the lounge in Toronto could do with an upgrade, staff in the lounge were good. Enjoy watching your travels and reviews. Agree with Peter Nietresta's comments!
The AC flight to London was something of a “regular” prepandemic flight for me…I haven’t flown it for 2 years, so I watched to basically reminisce…I’ve always had a positive experience, and it’s one of the best values for a flat overnight flight. Happy to see that you enjoyed it!
Wait, the title makes it sound as if you hated this flight. I got the impression you liked it this time around
The key for me is to keep the situation as real as possible from the outset. I aim to put the viewer (you amazing people 🙏🏼) in the position of myself going into this. Given my awful previous experience and PR flight after, I had pretty mixed feelings going into this. I hope that makes sense and explains my rational, thank you so much for watching
@@Trektrendy Your title needs a question mark IMHO. Still awful. Or Still awful?
@@auwz66 I agree, the lack of question mark makes this such a clickbait-y video. Honestly I'm a bit disappointed.
@@Trektrendy I hope you realize from all these comments that, despite your intentions, many people are misinterpreting your title. Please consider changing it.
@@Trektrendy The title is still off, and the intro sets up the scene for this review to be another bad Air Canada experience. Without the question mark you're stating that this video will show off another bad experience, myself (and it seems like many others) as a viewer were expecting the flight to be a bad one from the title alone.
Great video. I love redoing airlines you have done in the past to see if they have changed in anyway. Keep going.
You have to add a question mark on your title. You do Air Canada a disservice here. They clearly smashed it out of the park.
STOP CRYING ABOUT THE TITLE
@@diehardavgeekfreak6862 Thanks. I'll try. Still feel so devastated and emotional.
My new favorite travel reviewer. This was exactly what you needed to do, great job!
I have taken several Air Canada flights in first/business class and they have never let me down during inflight service. Once had a very rude customer service agent in YYZ in the airport, but as far as the flight...it was great. Beverage service was excelent and never waited for a refill. Appears AC serves a standard breakfast in first class which I have had several times and it is really good and unlimited hot bread and butter. My last few flights were not full in first class, so the FA offered me extra food. I was not super hungry but the FA explained that the food not used is tossed in the trash. So I asked why?? Basically the food is 90% cooked within the previous 24 hrs and frozen. Flights are stocked with food for a full cabin, so if not sold out there will be extra food. Once the FA cooks/reheats the food, they must serve it to passengers or it is tossed since it canot be salavaged or used given flight time etc. Needless to say, waste not, want not I had a second breakfast!!!!
Your joking. Try a good line and see the difference. AC stinks.
I've been watching your content for a while (wanna travel junkie here!), and I've enjoyed every review you've done! This one was also great, but the title is very clickbaity and misleading. Your viewers really like the transparency of what you do, including the video titles. Please don't resort to using clickbait for the sake of views. It's insulting to your viewers who've been with you for a while.
Thanks so much for watching. My intention was not to garner clicks but to put the viewer in the position of myself going into this. I.e after my previous awful flight I kind of anticipated this going in. Based on feedback as you and everyone else watching my videos is vital to keep me doing what I do, I’ve made a tweak to my title.
@@Trektrendy Thanks for the clarity (judging by the initial AC vid, I'd question the service from them too lol) and like I said, fantastic review as always! I can't wait to see what your next adventure entails! ^_^

@@Trektrendy It doesn't seem click-baity to me. Very nice review, thank you.
Lovely video, and thanks so much for responding to your fans so promptly and with such class. This is why you are my favorite!
Thankfully it was a great experience I remember the last video when it wasn't so. Good for you for taking it on again.
That was a much better experience! Great video! 👏🏼✈️
I'm very impressed with Air Canada. It's exceedingly rare that companies not only attempt to do obvious damage control but actually back up what they say and put in an honest effort to correct issues. Most others would simply try to limit the bad exposure, call it done, and carry on because margins. I'm very pleased.
First the domestic lounge is identified by a huge sign covering the whole wall so not sure how you missed it as you pass through security. On the opposite wall is the Plaza Premium lounge. Hard to miss either. Second, the elevator takes you right down to the departure gates but for some reason you missed that button on the elevator too.
This 👆🏻
You don't work for Air Canada by chance do you? :)
Finally commenting. Love your videos dude! I've watched a ridiculous amount of them since I saw my first about a week ago.
What I always appreciate about how you film is how you respect other people’s privacy. Which is why I find it funny when someone has an issue with you filming
Always delivering. Thank you!

You are doing a great job. The length of the videos, very informative with humour. Honest reviews. Not like many others...Sa* *cough* :) Hopefully you can do more reviews in Asia where i usually fly now when they start to open up. Cheers!
I am so glad you enjoyed your flight to YVR, Will!!! I see you enjoyed your stay here too. Please make a comeback one of these days again!!!
Great Review - thanks for sharing! Was there privacy "screen" or were you exposed to those walking by?

Thanks for respecting your audience Will. No wonder you are successful in operating your channel. Another great review. I think the review was spot on. Isn't it such a joy that something positive came from your first AC mishap! Kudos to you and to AC! But kudos to the loo with a view! 😂😂🤣👍😊😁 Keep it up Will! Enjoy Vancouver!
It should be noted that this a domestic flight, instead of an international flight. So there might be a different standard or execution in training?
This domestic flight is treated as an international flight in terms of service standards, everything you get on this flight is the same on international flights, with the only addition being a second meal if the flight time permits
Long time watcher first time commenter haha. Loved this follow up video but most importantly the Sam sneeze comment! 😂 👏
Good review. Glad Air Canada treated you better this time. Food looked appetising. Thank you
Hey, Me and my family have been at that lounge before. I think that we sat where you were sitting at 12:33.
ive been waiting for ages man 😤
I wonder if they have your name on some sort of vip list because that was the most decent AC experience I've seen lol
It’s not
Love your content, keep it up, Bro!
Just watching this post now because we took this flight from Vancouver to Toronto, me with a broken rib. This was the MOST comfortable business class pod, bar none, than I have even been in. And, I have done many, including most transatlantic. Such a great seat here. Some US airlines tout their "suites" which lack comfort. Love this offering by Air Canada
Surely that should be Still Awful?
I was expecting them still to be bad from the title.
it was a mistake so he changed it to a question mark
I am glad they were better this time round for you. I just booked the 787 business class from Denver, to Vancouver, then on to Tokyo. I believe the first 3 hour leg of the trip is on one of their smaller planes, but the 10 hours flight to Tokyo will be the 787. Really hoping it is as comfy as you say, I normally find it hard to fall asleep on planes,. But good lord, 10 hours, I will need it! Especially with the time difference of 16 hours. Thanks for the review.
I fly AC business all the time and is great. Why the thumbnail says "Awful" when the review is great is beyond comprehension. Great video though.
Probably a mistake. He added a question mark, so the video title makes much more sense now.
@@biggielittle1384 I see. I would change the thumbnail as well. Is unfair to Air Canada. AC is a great company.
@@jennifergala Good point, I didn’t even look at the thumbnail lol. This guy generally does good reviews, so I’m guessing it was an honest mistake until proven otherwise. I’ve heard mixed reviews about AC, but they seem to be very professional from what I’ve experienced.
@@biggielittle1384 I guess everyone's experience is different. Mine is very good. Their 777 and 787 are awesome. Maybe an honest mistake from his part but I will feel suspicious and sad if I were AC. We all make mistakes though. No one is perfect.
10:21 I dunno what film that's playing on the TV in the background but it made me chuckle
Love your reviews! The title was misleading but I guess it refers to that nightmare experience you had a while back. BTW in Canada, Z is ZED not Zee.
This video gives me new found hope for AC. I am flying TO to Budapest in 2 weeks. I do hope the service is up to par. Thanks.
I didn't expect that too. I've watched many trip reports about Air Canada on this route in COVID-19, and the service was really poor. Glad to see them back to their normal service, although there were still closed lounges and some few restriction
This is much more like the Air Canada business class flight from Vancouver to Frankfurt I had in late 2019. Super friendly staff (best since Virgin airlines a decade previous), bedding definitely provided, no issues with the entertainment or plugs. And most importantly the best food I've ever had on a plane (though my only other business class to compare to was United on the way back, which was good but not GREAT). That being said, I don't film so never had any hassle like you had previously.
It seems like Air Canada inproved a lot! very nice review!
Very much enjoy his reviews, truly.
Welcome to the North Shore, We welcome you! Thanks for visiting, keep up the videos Trek Trendy!
Think you need a question mark after the Still Awful
Thank you flying to Brisbane Au from Vancouver in April 2023 and love this video!! SOLD on these seats
Thank you for this review. I am very pleased that AC upped it's game. Now, if I could just afford BC for those long haul trips from London to Vancouver...
Glad to see you had a better flight Will, you see when they put their mind to it they can get it right 👍
lets go my favourite RUclips is back
I will Never, EVER fly Air Canada Business Class again.
This airline’s crew attitude, Lounge unfriendliness, horrific meal service and general uncaring attitude was stunning.
On a flight from Montreal to Barcelona we were NOT informed of baggage work stoppage in Spain until we landed. That also included ferrying passengers to the terminal….a single bus going back and forth to unload a jumbo jet. Luggage……it was unload 5 hours later. Was there even 1 Air Canada rep on the ground to keep us updated…..Nope.
This is a Canadian thing why you had that bad original flight. There's not a cohesive culture or set of rules so people just make up things and enforce whatever. I've gotten this treatment a million times and I'm Canadian! Glad to live in UK now
Glad you do too.
That "identifies" subtle jest was funny asf
I have be waiting for this for a while
Glad the flight went well. Better than last time!
Though the title caught me off guard this was still a great video, and i will continue to look out for more of your uploads in the future. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much for watching 🙏🏼
The way you say tenderline when you said 'beef tenderline' is making me hungry
Glad to see you gave AC another chance and that they surpassed expectations!
Glad it was so much better than your previous flight 🙂🙂✈️
Air Canada can surprise you entirely with different experiences, there Maple Leaf lounge needs some work, I approve of the QR app attachment I like that type of thing.
They have your account flagged so as soon as you book, they know. Try this with someone they aren’t expecting and see what happens!
They gave us dinner at 1 am and at 8 am served us more dinner #lovesircanada
good video! need that question mark after awful though haha
Click bait or not, as alwaus great content and realistic views. Straight to the point and no hiding fact from reality for which we pay and should rightly have expectations.
I travelled signature today and was hoping for one of those AC face masks you’re wearing. Where did you purchase it ?
i did the same thing looking for the lounge in YYZ ... be ready too if your air canada business class connecting flights are delayed, they shut the lounge regardless and kick you out.
Seems like most of the service has improved, and things are getting back to normal. Shape of things to come hopefully!
AC service/game is hit and miss. Just search youtube for "air canada vomit" and see how cabin staff, especially a pilot, treat customers.
Will u fly using previous airlines after covid situation is all but over? seeing as some have covid rules etc. having to drop in quality.
I swear when I was in search for this video yesterday it wasn't here lol
Excellent review, makes me miss Canada all the more
the lounge at pearson is incredibly hard to find due to no signage, but it ended up being next to the weird leaf terminal info thing
Access to the lounge is available at the bottom of the escalator from security. Its on the left.
I just did a Montreal to Calgary flight and it was the first time in a while I was provided with a tablecloth.
Good to hear a good review about AC!

Hey man, you should try WestJet It's a Canadian airline and id love to hear you opinion of it.
Next time we will just call you Josh! 😉 But that looked better than your previous flight so how still awful? Noels AC flight was awful lol. Btw that was DTW footage not Toronto when you were looking for the other lounge. 😂 😜. DTW represent. ✈
Lol. I couldn’t find the Air Canada lounge either. I gave up and just waited in the departure lounge.

Also, if you're going Jet Star anytime soon, I'd recommend Bali to Sydney / Perth. U'll have an interesting experience to say the least...
That meal looked excellent
I must say that these videos have been very helpful to me, as I am currently searching for a First/Business class flight from Toronto to London for May 2023 and am curious: if you had to choose between Air Canada and British Airways (I am searching for a nonstop flight), which would you choose?
I have heard horror stories about Air Canada (from their own employees- no loyalty there😳) so am leaning towards BA.
Which would you recommend?
Thank you so much!
AC service/game can be horrible. Just search youtube for "air canada vomit" and see how cabin staff, especially a pilot, treat customers.
I’m confused. How is this still awful when you clearly note all the improvements?
It was my impression going into this review but throughout the journey my opinion and experience changed as you’ll have seen. My aim as always is to take the viewer on a personal experience of what I’m thinking from the outset
@@Trektrendy The lack of question mark just makes this pure clickbait. Like many others, I will be disliking because you could achieve what you wanted with the personal experience journey just as equally with a question mark in the title. I fail to understand how someone who does RUclips for a living can't understand why people have an issue with a factually incorrect title.
You’re completely entitled to your own opinion and I welcome engagement whether that be a like or dislike. The focus should arguably be on the content, and the title sets the scene for the video. Thanks for taking the time out to watch my content 😀
Should be: Still Awful?
@@Trektrendy The title is wrong. That's a fact, not an opinion - unless you're somehow claiming that your experience indeed was still awful.
I'm really disappointed that you're being ignorant about this and choosing this as a hill to die on when it's such a simple change. But again, you know how to work the algorithm so ultimately I'd assume your refusal to change it comes down to you'd rather have more viewers than happy viewers.
I flew Air Canada 3 years ago in first class from Toronto to Washington DC and it was amazing
Your videos are my favorite of airline reviewers and this video was great too, but please add a question mark to your title. I see in your other comments the intent is to share the experience with the viewer of the pleasant surprise but to me it just caused confusion.
You should really fly international (Europe, Asia and South America) out of YYZ on AC Signature to experience the full Experience. They offer limo transfers between terminals and access to a specialty lounge - AC Signature Suite. Don't know if they have reopened it, but it is quite unique.
I just flew in J from YYZ -> LHR (and back) and got to experience the Signature lounge at YYZ. VERY well done, table service as in a fine dining restaurant with delicious food and lovely wine selection. Yes, AC is back, baby!
Good job AC looks nice!

When are you going to do a flight review on Imelda Marcos Airways ?
I would agree with a lot of the comments about the title being at odds with the review however, I did enjoy the review as always. I find the reviews honest, entertaining and overall well constructed. I would have chosen to watch this review even without the misleading title. In my opinion I would have changed the title so the subscribers don't feel let down and potential subscribers see that he's/you are a genuine guy. But look well done and keep the great content coming, loved the review and I will as usual give you a thumbs up!
Why would you recommend this video
@@northernsurferboy I don't understand what you mean by your question. Why would you want to know why someone recommends a video or if it was even recommended to watch?
@@Leo77779 what do you find honest about that review
@@northernsurferboy I'm still perplexed by your question, why would you need to know what I find honest about the review? When someone writes a review and another comments on their own personal opinion on how they feel about the reviewer has conducted and reported the review it is subjective. that maple leaf boarding screen......WOW
Well at least they made the experience a lot better for you this time. I'm from Canada so I'm happy they stepped up there game.
They typically tell you at check in to not go down the escalators for the lounge. Your check in agent slipped on this one.
If the lounge elevators are busy during covid, imagine during normal times 😅
@2:01 dash 8 is a twin turbo prop not a jet, Air Canada doesn’t give vloggers special service or care as it would open up unneeded public criticism or interfering in their business operations, there are press flights where they welcome legit press members and commercials flights where there are paying passengers
