For customers using the Tail Flame on 8s set ups. This afterburner in stock form requires the use of a 6s balance lead. For an 8s setup, you would need to use one 6s and one 2s battery so you have the 6s balance lead. If you are running two 4s battery’s to make 8s it will not work without modifying the connection.
I read a comment in your afterburner customer review section that mentioned something about being able to adjust when this light would start coming on by using an extra channel in their receiver. It makes sense to me, although I'm not sure how to make that work. Can you guys make a video giving us a tutorial on how to achieve that. I think that that would definitely skyrock the already high popularity of this great product... I purchased one of the universal burners for the freewing Mig21 because it has an outrunner...the tabs on the back of my motor casing are just a bit too big for the 32mm adapter plate and too small for the 36mm. This is pretty frustrating that of all the adapters, none are the right size.
@@vectorvictor2911 Maybe you can exchange them for the ones that are only for Freewing motors...before doing that check if your motor has the two holes for the installation...I hope that they could help you with this matter and that the proprietary ones actually work for your plane...🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾
I just ordered these last week and installed in my Mirage 2000 and F-22 so far. Super easy install. They look great. And i got 4 sets for the price of one of the competitors.

Well it's about time freewing. Nice little kit. Although I prefer mine hardwired in so I don't have to keep messing with balance plugs. Would also suggest you do a twin. Even on a single fan twin led units at an angle help throw the light out better. And finally use foil tape inside the ducts. Does 2 things. 1) Obviously helps project more light out. 2) More importantly it prevents light bleed through the foam which can look terrible. 👌
The LEDs should be mounted on a truncated cone so that the light reflects and bounces to the rear, and minimizes light leaks to the front. The dark gaps would also simulate the injection vanes.
I have two Freewing 80mm planes that I would like to add this on, but I run a telemetry sensor off of my 6S balance tap, is there an adapter that could accommodate both?
Wes, mine comes on as soon as I move the throttle from the off position. Your video says it should come on at 1/2 throttle. Is there a way to adjust this, or do I have a faulty afterburner?
They didn’t show the part where if you mount the afterburner on this specific plane (The 90mm F-22) you have to cut out a section of foam because the motor doesn’t fit with the afterburner light on. Smh they should of just showed it but I guess this is a video for the afterburner not specifically for the F-22.
This Motion's setup is way easier than the RC castle's version, in which you would have to throttle-calibrate. With Motion's setup there's no need to do that. You literally plug-and-play.
As a side issue, I see that the EDF installed in the F22/90 is the newer V2 8S 4075-1350KV Silver metal? This is the new stock EDF? I only ask since I'm in the market for the F22/90 but seems that the current HP/deluxe version is advertised as having the older 8S 4075-1390KV...🤔
Great product and video demo, however I have an issue with mine. All lights work on my 80mm F14 when I plug the lights into the battery balance leads. As soon as I connect my batteries main power cables up, the afterburner lights go off. Not sure why as they afterburners are connected to my throttle channel. Can you please advise? Thank you
The Spektrum receiver sends power through the signal wire and will burn up any afterburner plugged into them. The only way around this is if you run your afterburner in a separate port and mimic the throttle channel in that port.
Hi, I really do like the look of them from the spec sheet it says 12.5V to a MAX of 24V from the video it looks like using 3 cells and also on the website picture E631 is using 3 cells BUT E632 it's a bit hard to tell whether it's using 3,4,5 or 6 cells from the picture. Now to my question people who have a G2 Spektrum 6S batteries (No balance lead) Would a full charged battery 25.2V (I know under load the voltage would drop a little bit and soon would come down to near 24V and below) likely to burn out the afterburner or not?. At the moment they are out of stock on the E.U site BUT I would be very interested in getting some when they are in stock. Steve
I don’t like the idea of powering it from half the cells in the pack. Seems like it would cause the cells to discharge in an uneven manner. What is the current draw on one of these? I think if I get one I will be using a DC-DC buck converter
Looks awesome, but I have 2 questions: 1. have a voltage sensor plugged into the balance lead of my battery, is there a way to use the sensor and the afterburner together? 2. What are the diameters of all the non-freewing adapters?
I think that they might mentioned that in the product description... They come with a good variety of adapters that should fit most 80 and 90mm motors... I think that you'll find the one for your application with this kit...Good luck...👍🏾😊
@@ricardopr54 Well I got one of the universal ones for the freewing Mig21...the tabs on the back of my motor fan are just a bit too big for the 32mm adapter plate and too small for the 36mm!
You can ‘feed’ it with 24V max. So a Y-harness directly from a 5S lipo can be used (e.g. male and female XT60 to an XT30 for the AB). 6S can be a bit tricky that way: fully charged you can get 25,2V theoretically. But under load it drops fast.
No, these would be too big for a 64mm and the weight would make it hard to fly. Eventually we may make smaller ones, but started with our most popular sizes
Tried one similar (I think same?) on my 8S F-22 and connected it to one battery balance lead and the wiring to the burner melted. There must have been like a ground loop or something? What is different with this Freewing one that stops this happening?
There is a recent video put out by motion rc that explains how you need to connect the batteries so that does not happen. I did the same thing and fried my first afterburner. It all depends on how you plug up the batteries so that it doesn’t send to much voltage to the afterburner.

Indeed!
Mine is on the way to try too
After watching this video the one thing i really like and would like to see it used on more planes is the removable battery tray

Without breaking the bank too!.
I thought that price was a typo. Bravo MotionRC 🎉
The gripen motor doesn’t have the2 screw holes for the freewing afterburner kit , it will need the other kit with the adapters
Wes, mine comes on as soon as I move the throttle from the off position. Your video says it should come on at 1/2 throttle. Is there a way to adjust this, or do I have a faulty afterburner?

Does this work with the Freewing F-22 V2 64mm?
No. there is no option for a 64mm yet. Probably a weight issue in the smaller models

Not enough to notice. They are just LEDs
Is there not one for the 70mm? Or will these work
We do not have one for 70mm currently. Just this 80mm/90mm to start.
sooo COOL
Any idea why my light stays on at zero throttle?
Yes, check the connection diagram.
Do you supply adapter for out runner I have 70mm red arrows hawk t. 1
At this time no. We only have options for inrunners at this time.
