      I think the F-16 gunfight type might be more physically demanding in some aspects, namely the pilot is squeezed much harder into the seat for much longer. Here the G forces are less extreme in magnitude and shorter (but also much more chaotic).

      @@ObiWanShinobi917I have a question tho , let’s say Russia developed an actual good stealth fighter , let’s say Chinese stealth fighters have good stealth capabilities, so in a 1v1 scenario both of them won’t be able to fight each other in bvr and they will be forced to get close and it should in theory result in a wvr fight or a dogfight. I think this is one of the reason why they still focus on developing short range missiles/ir missiles.

    • @cameronpitcher4024
      @cameronpitcher4024 18 дней назад +22

      Su 57 is stealth. Su 27 on all have very powerful radars which can reach up to 80 kms or more. I don't know why people say they are outmatched in bvr especially when they have r77m. Us is not a generation ahead.

    • @Liberty_or_Ded
      @Liberty_or_Ded 18 дней назад +22

      @@cameronpitcher4024 Su-57 is not stealth. We already know this from the RCS intel we've obtained, where its RCS is the size of a clean Super Hornet. Unless you're actually going to try to make the case the F/A-18 is also stealth...?
      Also having a radar that can reach up to 80km doesn't defeat stealth. The F-15E's radar has a range of over 100 miles (185km) and even it struggles to detect an F-22 within 30 miles (48km), which is, if you're high-up (as you likely will be in the initial engagement) dangerously close to the MAR of an AIM-120D. That's detection, by the way, NOT TRACK.

    I love your videos. Every time I watch one I want to try DCS again. Sadly it’s so much more difficult for me to master than is IL2 Great Battles. Still, DCS is fun to watch.

    Truth is, all things being equal the most decisive factor in a merge like the ones we see here is who turns into the merge first. I mean these two aircraft are as tightly matched as can be, so assuming they enter the 1 circle flow at a nearly merged position, the person turning first will automatically win. A. They are already ahead of the curve, literally B. Assuming the merge is reached at a high speed relative to sustained turn speed, the first person turning will have a distinct advantage due to the braking factor putting them ahead of the other very quickly. Just my observation though.

    Feels like these dogfights turn into a quick draw where the su has the gun already in hand and the f22 has the gun in a holster

    The engineers solution to the super maneuverability problem was to strap two of the most powerful jet engines they could possibly make onto the jet so that you could just thrust out of your slow state unless you really screwed it up.

    never seen a plane intentionally fly backwards XD
    and looks like the raptor was totally fine in the last fight. an f-15 can also land with a missing wing XD

    In fact, everything is much simpler, even in an interview with the Su-57 pilot, Bogdan said that they know very well that Dogfights are very rare nowadays. But if you can have super maneuverability then why not? It's better to have than not to have. And yes, apparently they are also trying to increase their BVR capabilities. The R-37M missile itself seems to hint at this. Well, there are new flat nozzles on the Su-57 engine for the same reason.
