Couldn't agree more. The Freewing F-22 90mm is by far the best EDF I have ever flown. 8S or 6S it doesn't matter. Throw in some of the mods and it's next level.

Outstanding video Jon, love that you got it back up in the air brother. I agree 10 out of 10, one of my most favorite jets in my hanger by as well. I have the 8s version and I run 4500 4s Lipos for weight savings but man does it scoot. Absolutely love it.
My Dream jet!! I already have it's little brother the 64mm version which I've customized with working rudders that plane is almost impervious to stalling so you can throw it around in the sky because it's so forgiving! But I need that 90! Can't wait to get my hands on one! Prob this spring I'll pull the trigger one one.
Holy crap dude, you have that thing freaking dialed in! With all the throw and power I can see why it is your favorite. It is as if this was made for what you like to do. I love the D series Hitec servos. Got some on the way for my H9 Christen Eagle. Great flying man!
Very nice setup! I am building a pretty light and high quality one right now. More for scale than speed but it will be light enough to be aerobatic as well. Like you said the amount of things that you can do with this jet is unlimited! I went with D85 all the way around last time around besided the rudders, they are great servos. Especially with the soft start feature and prograrmming of the Hitec Programmer. Cheers -Ché
Oh man, awesome!! I have a F-35 and I like it, I've been considering the F-22 and this vid has caused me to finish my decision. I will be flying the F-22 as soon as I shift around some priorities to free up some greens. I really like watching you fly because that's the way I fly as well. I have a SU-35 that I flew into some kind of tight maneuver so hard it snatched the Velcro battery straps loose and the canopy and battery detached from the plane at about 125 feet. Somehow the SU went into kinda a flat spin and slowed enough so when it hit the ground it didn't explode. You know what I mean, that kinda foam just goes to fragments when you wreck. Anyway thanks for the vids and info.
Very nice flying and review👍👍👍..Good that you give this wheel tips to people.. Freewing should put wheel/ suspension with better shock absorbance. It really helps. Have used this type of wheels + Avanti, Mig21 struts on many Edfs..
Amazing flying! Is it the jet or is or is it really your great flying skills? :-) Now that it's shipping with that great motor I want one again. I had it when it first came out but I was too inexperienced to really enjoy its true capabilities. I noticed that it was my easiest jet to land and that it was a floater - great lifting body. Thanks for showing us what it can really do!
Thx for the help i have now the f22 for almost 1 year and i do your recommendet Wheel upgrade. Now if the gear closes the current spikes about twice as mutch because there rly tight in. they are a bit wider than ther original once. is that ok for longterm? ore will i burn my retract Motor?
Great plane! I recently bought mine and have gyro installed. Is it better to have the gyro on the tailerons instead of elevator/aileron? Or have the gyro somehow control ailerons and also taileron?
Thanks for the awesome content on this channel! You’re in a league of your own on camerawork as well as commentary/expertise, editing and pilot skills. A short question on this particular jet: What would you consider the _least_ important of elevons, flaperons and crow mixing, for aerobatic versatility (and general fun)? I’m wondering whether it can be meaningfully set up for an intermediate pilot using only eight channels. As far as I understand (I’m a noob) you would need those eight channels to get complete freedom with each of the eight control surfaces and thus have all of the options above plus the rudder airbrakes. Sacrificing those airbrakes (which I assume are of little aerobatic use) and assigning both rudder servos to the same channel would free up one channel for the throttle. To free up the last one for the gears the same would have to be done for the elevators (sacrificing elevons), flaps (sacrificing flaperons) or ailerons (sacrificing crow). Again - as far as I understand. Thanks and cheers from Gripen-land!
Flaperons and crow mixing aren't essential. Differential stabilators are highly recommended though. Our current setup uses 17 channels, 9 of which are controlling all of the physical aircraft surfaces. It's great like that, but a simpler 8 channel setup can do most of it.
Hi John, I’ve been digging through all your F-22 90mm videos in hopes of a link to a setup file for my transmitter. I know you’ve had a few variations on this plane but hoping for something to get me started. I’m running the ix14 with an 8 channel spektrum receiver. Thanks
Love this jet but one frustrating thing for me is that the mains get loose on the shaft very easily. Freewing really shouldce made 2 sets of grub screws holding it straight and properly filed flatspots to hold the grub screws.
I've epoxies my mains in and they've gotten loose again. They got loose off our runway mat. Gonna have to cut in flat spots myself and reepoxy with jb weld probably. Just ordered the wheels you suggested too. Thanks for the vid
Got another question. On my raptor, whenever i drop full flaps it pitches down every time. I have no down elevator mix when i drop take-off or landing flaps but still wants to go towards the ground. Should i put some up elevator mix for when i use flaps? Never had to or heard of having to do that before so i wanted to ask first. Thanks
Hello sir, how did you access the wing servos individually? Did you remove the ribbon cables? Did you cut them out or slide them out? Any problems fishing new wires through the model?
@@TwoBrosRC thank you so much for the reply. Did you have to cut the ribbon cables out of were you able to fish it out? I'm worried it might get stuck in the servo wire track that wraps around the central duct.
How does the FW's F22 compare to the Viper 90? My Viper is starting to get beat up (mostly from landing , ironically) and, if it goes down really hard, instead of an ARF kit, I may just pull the motor/fan ESC, and receiver to a FW F22 ARF kit.
The only things the Viper can do better are knife edge and high alpha, and the latter requires an 8 channel receiver. Stock vs stock, the F-22 is definitely a better jet overall, but not by much. The Viper 90 is E-flite's best jet in that class.
It's covered in our Discord server. Check the #jets channel and search for F-22 wheel via bit.ly/TBRCDiscord The nose wheel needs to be drilled to fit the shaft. You can do this manually using a drill bit.

How highly do you recommend tailerons? I received the 10360t for Christmas. Advantages of which are just increased roll rate? High alpha control authority?
We highly recommend them. The full scale F-22 uses differential stabilators for roll control and it's incredibly powerful at model scale. Without them, you can stall out at higher angles of attack and be unable to recover as easily. It doesn't help with high alpha stability (nothing would except fins on the belly) but it does help recover from stalls and make it possible to perform post-stall acro like flat spins, cobra spins, etc.
Hi John -this jet look sooo stable. Is the freewing 64mm version stable and easy to handle like the 90mm f-22 freewing version? Thanks - look forward to your new vids..
Hi Jon, just have a question. You've stated that you use gorilla glue to fix certain things on a foamy. Well, the right main landing gear came off on a ruff landing and I was just curious if you use the regular gorilla glue or the no foam gorilla glue on your fixes?
6, absolutely. It runs the new Freewing 1960kv motor which is found in Eurofighter. It weighs almost as much as the FMS 1950 we used to run in our old F-22 yet produces 8s-like thrust with no wing loading penalty. It's absurdly good.

You should feed in some elevator trim when the flaps are dropped to avoid this issue.
How effective do you think the center fin thing between exhaust would be if converted into a thrust vector deflector for the yaw axis?
Probably not very effective unfortunately.
Are you able to do a complete 180-degree turn or turn inside out with this RC F-22?
Yeah, easily.
@@TwoBrosRC Good to know.

Hello sir, how did you access the wing servos individually? Did you remove the ribbon cables? Did you cut them out or slide them out? Any problems fishing new wires through the model?
We ran servo leads directly through the fuselage and removed the ribbon cables to reduce weight. It takes a bit of work.
