  • No hyperbole - this jet is definitely among the best ever. Outstanding flight envelope. Gentle flying characteristics. Moddable for a tail heavy CG, within reason. Good servos out of the box. Fantastic price point. You can't argue with it - unless you hate death doritos, in which case your opinioni s wrong.

    Those low passes were impressive! And the high alpa over the water as well! I 100% agree! By far one of the best flying jets that has come from Freewing next to the F-22! It does everything well and I havent even hooked a gyro up to mine yet but do plan to in the future. I have the 8s version and it is blazing fast!! So far its been in two RC Airshows at full scale airports wowing the crowd each time! I dont take it with me to the field every time, but when I do there is always a big smile after each flight!

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  5 месяцев назад +2

      It's so tail heavy on our setup that it flies quite poorly sans gyro, but that's basically how the full scale would fly without a flight computer. Being able to do slow rolls with almost no altitude drop is well worth the mod work that went into it!

      @TwoBrosRC  5 месяцев назад +1

      A monster truck Maule sounds like a bunch of fun. We're still waiting on our inflatable 1300mm Super Cub wheels to arrive so we can toss them on our Maule.
      Model airplanes have to make sacrifices to be lightweight (relatively) and still flyable within a reasonable envelope. Landing gear mounts are usually one of those sacrifices. In Eurofighter's case, that's thankfully not the issue, but you can crack the plane in half exactly where those two photos show if you slam it in consistently. It's just not designed for that kind of flying - you actually have to fly it down to the ground to avoid that.

    Just came across your videos of euro fighter from last year today and subscribed. Great video. You reference the control surfaces rates being tied to speed. I assume you mean throttle position? You’re the first RUclipsr I have seen sharing som much on mixing, rates, etc… Much appreciated! I have done several complex mixed planes that leave most R/C’ers scratching their heads. But, I’m always learning. Euro fighter being purchased :-)

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  5 месяцев назад

      Thanks Anthony! The behavior Jon was talking about is in reference to the gyro, not the surfaces. In full scale fighter jets, stabilization and throw are both controlled by the flight computer. On model aircraft, the best we can do is limit the stabilization by approximating airspeed thresholds using the throttle position as a crude guide.
      We use full throws, but the gyro is governed by throttle position and the position of the sliders on the back of our IX20.

    • @AnthonyPuca
      @AnthonyPuca 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@TwoBrosRC I figured that's what he's talking about. He referred to it with speeds. I'm a full scale pilot too, understand what the full scale planes are doing. I ran into issues with throttle curve mixes on a couple of planes where I chopped the throttle and how too much deflection but still going fast or was needing to punch it while too low and didn't have the throw I need. Would be nice if we could tie this to true airspeed at some point. Use IAS like UASs do from a tiny pitot tube and feed that to a control thow mix. My bet is you guys will be the first to do it from what I have seen.

    • @hakonlisleb4850
      @hakonlisleb4850 5 месяцев назад +2

      @AnthonyPuca I tried to use Frskys pitot sensor for this exact purpose, but the telemetry had some delay. Maybe it could have been fixed, but sometimes it lost the sensor as well so I ended up with a gain mix that was tied to the throttle. Not only that, but with slow up and slow down added to the mix to get a closer correlation with actual speed. I have some flights with the Eurofighter on an 8 ch receiver, but now there is a Frsky SR10+ mounted with dual stabilizers - the second one controlling the canards with separate gains and throws. Waiting for the snow ❄️ to go away to test it. Great video by the way!

    I can say from having a v1 that it's such a good flying jet, i put countless flights on it using only 5 channels, zero expo, standard elevon mixing and no gyro, so nothing else is really needed but more just a luxury on this bird. I'm saying this for the people like me who just like to simplify it, put a fresh battery in it and go rip it, she'll do just fine...until it doesn't (servo failure😭).

    • @TwoBrosRC
      @TwoBrosRC  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah man, however you want to fly is all that should matter. We prefer to emulate how full scale jets fly. Not everyone does, though. And it does require a bit more stick skill to fly something as tail heavy as our jets, even with augmented stability. You still have to know how to operate within the jet's flight envelope. Departing from it can lead to unrecoverable crashes. But it's so much more fun to have a jet that does exactly what you tell it to do!

    • @TwoBrosRC

      The Viper motor has *nothing* on the Eurofighter motor. The ESC would be useful though - but you'd need to step down the voltage to the retracts for any Freewing jet, or you'll burn them up. Avians kick out 6v BEC power in stock configuration. You'd need to step that power down to 5v, or the gear will eventually burn up.

      It's no bother, we try to answer everyone. The NX8 is more than enough to fly this jet in stock form. 7:20 or maybe, the cg should be Correctly located.!
    7:22 not sure what you meant to say here. yes, the canard does not significantly affect the air flow at the wing. negative aoi/a at the canard results in nose down moment... all the time.! which moment is offsetting the affects of a weirdly located cg. in this case, the cg should be, approximately, located at Fifty percent of root chord.
    7:30 the cg of an aircraft should be located AT Thirty Percent of mac. that value should be your 'baseline ideal' cg location.!
    it should be understood that a model aircraft should not be flown with 'pretend stuff' hanging under the wing.! why. two reasons. such bits make, proportionally, a LOT more drag. and, their masses do not have the same affects on a model's dom as they do at full scale.! d

    • @RC4ever
      @RC4ever 5 месяцев назад +1

      Nonsense. Airflow doesn't flow aligned with the wing where the canards are placed. The very presence of a cambered wing modifies the entire fluid field around it, both downstream and upstream. If you set the canards flat, they'll be causing a permanent pitch up, which honestly, pretty much sucks because combined with a nose heavy CG it kills all the agility and maneuverability that make such an airplane a real beast. I personally wouldn't set them with such a big offset as Jon shows, but his idea is perfectly sound. Mine are also trimmed slightly 'pitch-down', which doesn't actually cause a pitch down per se, but more of a 'less-pitch up' contribution. It's like owning a ferrari and trying to drive it around with the parking brake on. Sure, you may overpower it with sheer force and still be able to get from point A to B, but it sure is a damn waste. 😂😂😂
      As for the ordnance, again, more nonsense. Yes, they add drag (so do they on the full scale counterpart) but they also have positive contributions. They add an extra degree of lateral stability and help shift CG back, which both combined allow the jet to fly even better (more stable) at extreme angles of attack during high alpha. You do you, and all that, so however you choose to fly your jet is fine I guess. Whatever floats yer boat. But trying to impose your ideas on others the way you do (more so when you are clearly mistaken to add insult to injury) is just plain wrong and shameful.

      We had our buddy Alejandro come in and explain why you're mistaken. He's an aeronautical engineer. While we usually dislike the appeal to authority fallacy, in this case, he's done the research. Our in-house aeronautical engineer Ciarán also had something to say:
