I followed this guide and used the TBRC model file from his Discord server as a baseline. My maiden flights were incredible. The plane flies amazingly on 8S with the aft extended battery tray, snap flaps, tailerons, and using these gyro settings 25:00
Definitely my favorite military airframe in existence. Working on the Block 60 Falcon in early 2000 was an amazing experience, and I’ll never forget it.
18:53 just a word of caution to anybody that attempts this mod, I put a hole through my airplane on both sides cutting the foam out for the wooden stringers. The foam is thinner than a quarter of an inch up towards the existing battery tray. I fixed it with a bit of spackle and paint but just FYI
I used 1/8" thick basswood and made the deck level with the front battery tray, so my stringers were 1/4" total depth of Styrofoam removed. I did go a little too deep on the front on one side but if you're more careful than I was, it's even possible to finish the mod with a level deck without breaking through. Mine was barely a slice, easy fix
Bravo!! Well done as always 👏👏🫡🫡. I've been using your setup techniques for a while now, and while I don't carbon copy your particular setup, I tailor it to my liking and it makes a world of a difference on how these models fly. Excellent video. I was impatiently waiting and you did not disappoint. Now I have a good guidline for setting up my v2 f16 that will be on inav with fpv head tracking. It's a bit different..... but the basics such as the type of mixing and cg information is valuable to get me started in the right direction. Thanks. Just maiden my 8s today 😮wow! Two clicks of trim and bingo amazing! Flew with stock equipment and Jon’s radio setup minus the 2nd gyro wow! 🤯 flew with my f16 80 T Bird and I think I love them both! Definitely keep moving cg back both birds fly better each pack !
Daaaaamn!!! I have the Eflite Tbird F16, my first EDF and still my favorite fun to fly....flyer. Just so light and agile. I have the Elite 80mm. Much different plane but...much more scale in some ways and...I love the real paint job. Got the LF - Luke Air Force Base and the 56th Fighter group decals from Callie. She's awesome and...I live in Phoenix and love paying some respect to our fine Men and Women in the west Valley at Luke and the Amazing job they do training F16 pilots and flight crews from 28 nations and the F35 Pilots and Crews. I fly a couple of Motion/flightline planes and have been happy with them. Loving the B25 Mitchell and Bombing the guys at the field (condoms filled with water lol). But....then they come out with this beast! Not s huge fan of the Artic scheme. Really wish they had a standard Air Force grey. But....the have the AIR BREAKS ON THIS ONE! Air breaks! That's so crazy cool and scale AF! I've had an idea of how to mod my Vipers to add air breaks so... I'm curious how they did it! Just so freaking cool!
As someone who has been burned on F-16's before, I am happy that this plane was released. This is a big step in the right direction towards making a durable F-16. I am actually pleased that this one is the heaviest F-16's yet, because that implies heavier duty construction and consequently longer life. The use of plastic everywhere is a big plus and I hope to see more of this in the future. It's always a good idea to upgrade the servos, the servo arms, and the pushrods on the elevator. Overall I'm happy in the new direction that Freewing is finally heading focusing on increasing durability and quality. To those that have never flown F-16's before that buy this plane, if you want your new purchase to live more than two flights, program in flaperons, get your CG right, and please use a gyro on normal at 70% gain.
Stellar review. Absolutely fantastic that you're now also using Lipos available to the masses and ones which I use and recommend to. Shame your grass is terrible as a grass take off and landing would be the cherry on top of your reviews.

10:44 is the one reason I watch your classic videos. You don't lie. Question, how do you like this in comparison to your Freewing F/A-18C Hornet Blue Angels High Performance 90mm?
Jon! Freewing is making really good planes, the new 70mm F-22 looks awesome, give it a try! If you do it please try it without AS3X and out of the box, then make it a beast.
Extensively comprehensive review, Jon. Per usual. And your Camera Crew is on point. Also, per usual 😊 I've noticed you seem to be pretty open minded about trying out new battery packs. I recently got my 1st batch of Spektrum's new "pro air" series 4s 2900mAh 120c LiPos. Put em through a torture test today. And they're actually pretty damn sweet. HH kind of snuck these into the market quietly. But man! I'm impressed, so far. Just wondering if you've checked them out yet. They're a little buried on the HH page. And I've only seen 4s and 6s packs. But the 2900mAh 120c packs weigh less than my 2700's in 30c. And put out for nearly 4 mins longer flights. Anyway, thanks for another awesome video. Can't wait to see next week's 👍
@@TwoBrosRC Yeah. Spektrum kind of snuck them on the site a couple weeks ago as pre order. Looked like nice packs. So far, they haven't disappointed. 👍

Probably not anytime soon since we already have the 90 and the 70 isn't really bringing anything to the table that the 90 hasn't done better yet, but who knows!
@@TwoBrosRC It’s definitely a jet i wanna see here too! I live maui,Hawaii and it’s soooo expensive to ship freewing planes here. I really want a f-22 and can’t decide btw. The 70mm $400+ or the 90mm $800+ with shipping any thoughts?
@@TwoBrosRC I feel like we won’t be the only ones who would consider buying one, maybe compare the 90 vs 70? I know a lot of people would appreciate it. Anyway keep up the great work!

RC Castle is run by a great guy, but the shipping he has to charge to get anything overseas makes it uncompetitive to buy from him. $180 shipping tacked on to a slight discount on a FW jet is not worth getting it from another company in our view unless you don't mind paying 33% more for your jet instead of just buying it from MotionRC.
@@TwoBrosRC exactly. The planes are cheaper, but add the shipping and you're at or above the MRC price w/ free shipping. Besides, I think the line in the video was in reference to certain individuals who will remain nameless. The RC FB forums are a dumpster fire sometimes lol.
Unfortunately ESC and servo issues are too common and is what I hate the most about buying a new airplane. Motion needs to price their ARF offerings cheaper. They price it at a point that it almost forces you to buy the PNP version. The other manufacturers are not much better, pushing BNF and PNP almost exclusively.
Love all the videos…. Been looking for a video of the FW MiG 29 with thrust vectoring. Am I just really bad at looking for stuff as my wife says, or is there a reason you’ve never done one?
@@TwoBrosRC well if I’m ever down your way I’ll let you put mine up. It’s 74” long and not as nimble as I’m used to but I think you’d enjoy it. Keep up the good work !! Love it !!
I have the eflite f-16 80mm! I know you will make a video to compare with the freewing f-16 v2 90mm. Can you tell mee in 6s wich one has better power and vertical? Thanks
Question from a advance beginner who's still fairly new to the hobby and still learning. Even thought this F-16 is a 8s versions, it can also be flown with a 6s battery as well?
i don't think i've ever kept stock servo's in any arf. go with what i know holds up. lost a few on stock servo's etc., been waiting for the freewing upgrade , but is it worth it lol
Softer is always better so long as they can support the weight of the aircraft. Grass is even more punishing to gear struts and the foam they're mounted to internally.
Mostly just because we had them laying around and didn't want to spend $90 on a pair of servos when two existing servos were already there - and at the price point it's hard to beat their performance.
The easiest way to get help is to join Discord via bit.ly/TBRCDiscord and ask in the tech-and-setup channel. You should be there anyhow! There's 1,500 people lol
@@TwoBrosRC ok, so during filming you're discussing, not seeing a difference between 6s and 8s .. Which part of the filming are you testing the 6s ? If you can remember between all the filing and editing if not it's ok , but I follow a lot of our setups and Ive had nothing but great results... Thx
6 cells were flown anytime you saw an afterburner or when it was sunny. When it was dark, or no afterburner, that was the 8 cell setup. Anything inverted high alpha low to the ground was 8 cells as well. Sorry, could've made that a little more clear on our end.
Looks like you have a bit of rocking from the Gyro? I share your opinion on the tires. I change most of my planes and jets to Dubro Low bounce, but they always take work to fit them and on many setups, you can’t get them to fit without rubbing. This is extremely disappointing. I wish Dubro or any company would make rubber wheels/tires that are the (exact) same size/width as the Chinese foam wheels that all these manufacturers are using. Foam wheels just suck.
Bro my dad texted me one of your videos, and I told him "Ive met him in real life! He lives around here dad" and I mentioned some of the local flying spots
One other question. Can you clarify now, your statement in your video from back on Sep 2, 2023 "Two Years of Near-Perfection - E-flite F-16 80mm Definitive Review" speaking of the value where you clearly advise to purchase the E-flight F-16 80mm over the Freewing F-16 High Performance 90mm?
The F-16 90mm v2 didn't exist two years ago. Between the V1 F-16 and the 80mm F-16, the 80mm was a better choice. We'll cover the pros and cons of the V2 and 80mm F-16 in an upload coming soon.
With the CG shifted aft and flaperons dropped, you're looking at about 75 to 100ft of takeoff roll. Possibly less if you're willing to do a carrier-style takeoff and slam full throttle immediately.
@@TwoBrosRC i have a runway thats about 80 meters long everyone is talking about how heavy it is so thats the holdback. I dont want to go as far back with the cg but stock first. Flaperons yes! So, what do you think?
Hi jon , lets say you balance the cg at 40mm back , assuming the manual says the cg is 25mm, why is it that you say you balance at 40mm back, shouldint the cg be where the cg should be , like a center of gravity will always only be at one spot no? Sorry if my question is confusing, im not really sure how to get this point across , its breaking my head even writting this 😅😂
Manual recommendations are always nose heavy by default. If you want more out of a plane, you have to move it back. The F-16 in full scale flies close to where our CG is located, hence why ours is significantly more maneuverable than the average F-16 you see in model form.
The real F16 is not controllable without fly-by-wire. It would drop out of the sky as to why it has lots of electrical redundancy. They are so maneuverable and are great troop protection because of their ability to fly in tight canyon corridors without hitting the canyon wall. You do the best reviews and how-to's in the industry. I only watch a few of you guys. The rest is horse sh*t of reviewers waiting on their next free package. They will review anything sent to them. They are only good for a laugh, lol. You make me laugh when you are angry at the plane, lol.
The full scale F-16 is only fly-by-wire because of the CG (and probably a few other issues at play) which is so far back that it needs extensive computer controls to keep it stable. Not unlike the setup you're seeing here. Thanks!
Sorry I have to disagree.... the E-Flite 80mm F-16 is still a better jet. The new factor of this plane will die off soon and the weight will become a reality.
I followed this guide and used the TBRC model file from his Discord server as a baseline. My maiden flights were incredible. The plane flies amazingly on 8S with the aft extended battery tray, snap flaps, tailerons, and using these gyro settings 25:00

Agreed on the ARF pricing for sure. It'd be nice if it was another $50 less, but it's probably for profit margins. Gotta keep the lights on!
Love all the videos…. Been looking for a video of the FW MiG 29 with thrust vectoring. Am I just really bad at looking for stuff as my wife says, or is there a reason you’ve never done one?
It's super expensive. If we bought one, we'd get to fly it once or twice a year. It's not a very attractive value given our filming schedule.
Thanks
The 90 has more power but also uses larger batteries.
@@TwoBrosRC I use in mind 6s 5000mah 70c. Do you think I will notice a great power difference? Love your videos thanks!
I'm gonna scoot my two 5200 4s batteries on back now. Hopefully i can get it to slow more on landings
Make sure you do the battery tray mod listed in the mods section. It's critical if you want to keep the pack secure.
@TwoBrosRC ok will do. Not going back that far yet lol. But when I do , Ill definitely do that
Question from a advance beginner who's still fairly new to the hobby and still learning. Even thought this F-16 is a 8s versions, it can also be flown with a 6s battery as well?
You'd need a 6 cell motor, otherwise you won't get anywhere near the thrust required to fly it properly.
Hi, working through your mods on my V2, can you explain the reason for circumventing the control box and going direct to the receiver ?
It's the only way to set it up how it's demoed here.
i don't think i've ever kept stock servo's in any arf. go with what i know holds up. lost a few on stock servo's etc., been waiting for the freewing upgrade , but is it worth it lol
If you want to fly yours like ours, the servo upgrade is definitely mandatory!
What is your experience with hard vs. softer wheels on grass? I reckon on grass the hard wheels shouldn't be too bad?
Softer is always better so long as they can support the weight of the aircraft. Grass is even more punishing to gear struts and the foam they're mounted to internally.
Hi Jon, great review. Quick question on the servo replacement. Is there a reason for going with analog servos over digital other than price?
Mostly just because we had them laying around and didn't want to spend $90 on a pair of servos when two existing servos were already there - and at the price point it's hard to beat their performance.
@@TwoBrosRC awesome, thank you
What if you don't have a gyro with that 40mm back from the CG . You think it would be fine without one?? Thanks!
Definitely don't fly at 40mm behind the marks sans gyro. While it *might* be controllable, it's not recommended because of how unstable it'll be.
Hey Jon I got a AS3X+ Issue when the gyro is on the ailerons are backwords how do I reverse them to go in the correct direction??
The easiest way to get help is to join Discord via bit.ly/TBRCDiscord and ask in the tech-and-setup channel. You should be there anyhow! There's 1,500 people lol
What is about reverse thrust? Can't find it in your configuration.
We don't use it.
Hi Jon Quick question are using 8s on the 6s EDF motor ?
Nah, the 8 cell Freewing motor.
Why elevon a instead of the usual taileron to dual elevatot switcheroo ?
Covered that in the vid. You can't stabilize the flaperons in pitch and roll otherwise.
It's slightly over-tuned, but we tend to prefer over-tuned to under-tuned.
Do you have any set ups on Tx16s
Nope, sorry! We only fly Spektrum radios. Our Discord server via bit.ly/TBRCDiscord has people who can help though!
How does this compare with the fms 80
F16
ruclips.net/video/9cUQ1k-HZMg/видео.html covers your question.
Have you seen the Kavan Norden bush plane?
Nope.
@@TwoBrosRC it looks really fun. Interesting design too.
Hi! Is there a gyro build in?
Flying futaba and not spektrum.
Best regards
Nope, it's a PNP airframe.
Bro my dad texted me one of your videos, and I told him "Ive met him in real life! He lives around here dad" and I mentioned some of the local flying spots
Indeed you have lol
Motion should give you this plane for free. Amazing and in depth review. Thanks again Jon!
@@TwoBrosRC Very good. I did hear you mention in this video a possible update between the two.
@@TwoBrosRC Any consensus yet? E-flight F-16 Thunderbirds 80mm or Freewing F-16 V2 90mm? :)
Now, how does this compare with the Eflite 80MM F-16 by HH? More power out of the box in 6s & of course 8S?
Really, I’m asking because I’m considering upgrading. Thanks!
You'll see soon!
Thanks! Realized you already answered this in another comment. Keep it up!👍
You doing ok after the storms?
Yep. We're in Cary, which is pretty far from western NC. Thanks for asking!
Awesome flights/upload but talk about fat pigs. How much runway do you need to take of if you want to get up asap.
What is this programm in the setup guide
???
@@TwoBrosRCi mean in the setup guide, you didnt use ur transmitter right? What did you use and how did you used that setup program
Why do you have so much down elevator trim?
Is it that obvious on-camera? The further back the CG goes, the more down trim is needed to fly level.
where you buy this plane
lol there's literally links in the description
Can't seem to get anything to work but the lights. Binds, but no controls, just a constant beep. Tried everything. Except a new board.
Contact MotionRC support.
sorry if im rude but its not a corbra spin its a kvocher bell
It's a cobra with a spin. It's a cobra spin. Whatever a "kvochur's bell" is, it's not a cobra spin.
You have NO servo Tester linked!!
Do what?
You know how it fly's on 6s with that setup?
Most of the flying footage is on 6 cells. Anything you see with an afterburner is 6 cell flying.
Thanks!
Damn... and I thought programming 700 size helicopters were bad.
👀
Just woaw!!
Can I get some of these fighter jets planes
Money can be exchanged for goods and services.
You say in the video isn't nose heavy, then narrate it is nose heavy
lol what?
Sorry I have to disagree.... the E-Flite 80mm F-16 is still a better jet. The new factor of this plane will die off soon and the weight will become a reality.
Feel free to disagree, but we'll see which one handles better when they're pitted against one another in the near future!
You talk about the weight over and over again and yet never tell anybody how much it actually weights... are you sure this is a review?
You sure you can't just click the non-affiliate link and look at the aircraft's weight in the specifications yourself?
Thanks!
Thank YOU!
Thanks!

@@TwoBrosRC It’s the least I can do considering all the effort you put into your videos and your presence on discord. Thanks again!
