Awesome video! Love the attention to detail.
13:00 I agree perhaps battery electromagnetic interference affecting magnetometer reference for gyro drift correction. I don't know what filter is being used to correct for gyro drift. Interesting the drift occurs near the viewing boundary, maybe some weird edge-case or rollover of values.
29:00 Looks like a Teensy 4.0 series microcontroller.
Kelvin, this was such a great video. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this! You have some phenomenal building skills. You've inspired me to want an FPV jet some day. You did this one PERFECT!
@@Mach3RC thanks 😊
@@kwboost BTW, im a car guy too. Love to see it! haha
Mate that’s amazing!!! The F-16 is my fav jet and that’s probably cause of the repeated sessions of iron eagle as a kid
Love your setup
Thank you for taking the time to make this video and explaining this, I am new to this so this definitely helps me out a lot! Using your videos to help me set up mine 😅
Keep up the good work Kelvin 🤙
Talk to me, Goose! Freewing is producing really nice models. I never thought I would buy a Foam airplane until I laid eyes on this Freewing F16. Now I have two. I bought a spare to set up FPV. This video is going to help a bunch. Thanks for all this information. This was one of the coolest EDF FPV flights I've seen. Liked and Subscribed.
@@FarmerFpv thank you. Check the description for links to the 3d printed parts if you need them.
Your builds are so meticulous & clean! I’m hoping to build a fpv F22 in the near future.
This is exactly what I'm trying to get into. This is great content for how to get into the RC FPV hobby! Thank you!
Great flying and a nice setup you have.
Thank you so much for making this video. I’ve been wanting to do this to one of my models for years but never could find a great, descriptive video going through everything.
Friggin awesome, man.
Very informative, very clean build I’m impressed with the outcome
Love this detailed video hopefully I can do this setup someday ... Please Do the f14 next 😀.
Hi Kelvin😊
I just reveived the DJI O3 Air Unit, Motionsic BAG and ARMS.
I bought the 12v cooling fan from Amazone along with the heatzink from Amazone, all from your list.
I also 3D printed the air unit mount. I have one request;
Can you show us how you mounted the heatzinks on the air unit and how the air unit sits in the 3d printed mount, please 🙌🤞😄
Best regards
Michael Buchreitz
@michaelbuchreitz4927 sure. I'll make a short explaining it tonight.
@@kwboost thank you so much❤️
Wow thank you for this video I want to move to a fc now . Can’t wait to see your next projects .
Awesome!!
Good work on that jet . The perfection is goals !
Kelvin, what an incredible project. Your attention to detail sets an example to anyone interested in RC flying!
For your landing mode with flaperons, are you only getting roll control from flaperons? was there any mixing with the elevons?
Congratulations , you obviously put in an incredible amount of time into your projects.
incredible job, looks very polished
Awesome vid that flight was great. Thanks for sharing. Hope to see more
amazing job!!!!!
Great Video!!! 👏💯🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for this inspiring video. I have the exact same model and would like to ask you for help regarding the FC setup.
Dude this is so frigging cool!
yooo thats a big one :)
I started flying wings too :)
Looking good Kelvin!
Hey kelvin thank you so much for this video. Currently building an A-10 fpv with INav did you setup reverse thrust? And if so how?
yes, I have reverse thrust on the f16. I set reverse thrust on a dedicated channel on the transmitter. there is a custom mix in the tx where when I press the reverse thrust switch the throttle automatically advances to full throttle. As for wiring..... the esc has a lead for reverse thrust. That lead is going to a servo output port on the fc that is configured to the reverse thrust command from transmitter.
@ thank you so much I’ve been trying to make it work with the avian dual esc. Just ordered new esc’s
duuuude this is sick! 🤘
Cut or put a duct on the top part of the fuselage so the fan can get more air. I know you would do a good Job at it.
I expect nothing less from you. Good to see ya even if it was just on a video.
@deadringerfpv6412 thanks bro.....been too long.
Nice job Kelvin
@@kennethbryant2410 thanks ken
i'm super impressed
nice 👍👍👍
Good stuff
Fantastic, this is exactly what I needed for my project, not just the what you need but the how. I do not have a 3D printer nor the smarts to run one, is there any way to buy you 3D printed parts from you? Also, when you purchased the F-16 from (Motion RC) did you also buy the recommended Esc and battery? Thank you for a great and helpful video.
Super cool
❤😊
suparrrrrrr coolllllllll men 💯
I love that plane
next step is obviously a hotas right?
RUclips channel “Iwright292” does a hotas with a helicopter and it is one of the best I’ve ever seen! He even does a tutorial.
Hotas is the only way I fly fpv 😁
Or a bigger aircraft?
Great pursuit
@@thefpvyawthority8106 thanks blue
INav? I use INav for my FPV long range stuff but never considered it for my fun stuff. I went with dedicated gyros (HobbyEagle A3 Super 4). I 3D printed an 80mm F-16 and I have an 70mm Freewing F-35 that I plan to go full headtracker with. I'm definitely taking a lot of cues from your setup if you don't mind. I love the display. Awesome job!!
@snowhack8903 Thank you 😊 Good luck on your setup. And post videos! 💯
Very impressive setup! May I ask how do you set up the pid (ff) in the flight controller?
Thanks
@@zzMAXz ill be posting a video on pid setup soon.
How did u manage to get the canopy so clear? It looks amazing 🤙
@@omarivan5362 i polished it with automotive buffing compound

Did you solder the esc to the FC or did you just put a PMV connection on the FC from the esc? Thanks
esc is NOT soldered to fc. The peak amp draw of the esc is very near the limit of the fc so it is safer to run the esc directly to battery. "Y" off the battery lead and run the Fc in parallel with the esc. Also when connecting the esc throttle signal to the fc be sure to de-pin the center red wire on the esc throttle lead. That way the esc internal bec is not sending power to the fc's regulated servo rail bus. For battery amp draw and voltage telemetry I used the matek Hall effect current meter.
@ Thank you. I’m currently trying to replicate a similar set up in my FMS Viper 70mm. Using the 04 air unit lite and F405 Wing fc. Not much info on how to wire the unit to the fc. Any ideas?
Also did you use beta flight to program the on screen display in the goggles?
Thanks so much for the info this vid has been an inspiration for the hobby I didn’t even know was possible lol!!
@ the o4 air unit will wire very easily to the f405 wing. Im not sure if you are using a matek or speedy bee. The o4 air unit will wire the same as the o3. You can check the schemetatic supplied be either fc manufacture depending on which you have. But basically the o4 air unit power wire will go to the dji regulated power output on the fc or straight to battery Max 6s. Ground will go to a ground port. tx from au will go to fc rx and rx on au will go to fc tx. thats about it. tx and rx should work on any free uart on the fc. But try to use the one uart in the schematic to avoid any possible headaches.
Again appreciate the help. I am using the matek f405 wing v2 fc. Apologies but two more questions.
For wiring the fc to the esc how did you do the y connection? Add another positive and negative lead from the esc to the fc?
How did you get the all of your osd? Use inav? I have the gps module and airspeed sensor just wondering how to get that to communicate with the goggles. Thank you!!
@StephenFerrara-p8k I spliced a 22ga wire into the heavy gauge esc wires that go to main battery. Solder and heatshrink. Then ran it to the fc battery input.
For the osd......it is handled by inav. Once the air unit is connected to the fc, go in the ports page on the inav gui and enable display port under the peripherals on the uart being thats being used for the air unit. Make sure osd is enabled on the configuration page. Then go to the osd page and select the elements you want displayed.
I've heard there are some issues with o4 and inav. But they are being quickly resolved by inav developers. I think the issue has to do with o4 air unit recognition of the arm command in inav and going into full power and auto recording. I don't know all the details tho.
The attention to detail here is top notch. Nice work! How can i make the canopy more clear?
Clean with microfiber and windex or ammonia , then spray again after wiping just to clear off any impurities , leave the spray on there and dip it in quickshine floor shine . Let it sit in a seal container to avoid any fibers and dust settling on it while it cures . Leave it for 48 hours and re dip it until you get the result you want
@@tonyyimbo thanks, I'll try that
@RyanQuellet thanks Ryan. I use chemical guys ultra fine car polish. I polish about 3-4 times with a microfiber. Then I follow with a automotive ceramic coat. I do this process to both the inside and out side of canopy.
How are you getting throttle to and from the flight controller? Directly from the battery to the flight controller, then to the ESC?
@DizzyRC directly from battery to esc. Flight controller power is split off the esc power input cable from battery. I do not run power through the flight controller to esc. As it is rated for 150amps and the esc fan combo pulls close to 130amps i felt it was to close for comfort. I use a seperat hall effect current sensor to get current data to the fc.
Talking points on point
Incredible plane. Is flying FPV easier?
Funny you say your next project will be an A-10 as that is what im currently building. Except I'll be doing twin 90mm and 8S.
Hey Kelvin, what antennas are you using on your DJI Googles 2? Do you like them, your videos seem to show that you don't drop signal very often.
As long as no obstructions, no signal loss. Im using stock antenna on 03 air unit and Vas omni lhc on the goggles 2.
Hi Kelvin, is current sensing required in any way by the Matek H743 FC?
@@polyscient current sensing isn't required for basic flight operation.
I am planning on duplicating all that you have listed, except the transmitter. I am using a (Futaba T16SZ) 18-channel transmitter. Will this cause any issues with the LRS receiver you used?
Would love to try fpv sometime
Are you using a voltage regulator to the fan because the power is coming directly from the battery? Can you connect it to the 5v voltage supply on the flight control board or an RC type BEC?
@stephanbrown6724 yes. I'm going straight to the battery with a 12v fan and regulator. I didn't use a supply off the board to prevent any chance of browning out the system. I wasnt sure if 12v/9v rail rail on the fc would handle the load of a fan and the o3 air unit
NICE KELVIN!!!! SUB'D
Man, could I just send you the canopy and pay you for your work? I must say very nice work.
Nice setup. I have a similar setup but my fpv gauge micro controller is acting weird. Can you send me the ino files from the cockpit gauge microcontroller?
Ok this RC Jet and the setup is amazing. Now everyone wants know how much $
do you have invested including battery and radio. ?
alot?
Do you think the 70mm f-16 or f-22 would handle the weight of the FPV setup?
@@smoken04 i think so. Might be a tight fit tho
Do you think the 70mm Raptor is a big enough platform for FPV?
I think so. might be a bit tight. should be able to at least fit a simple setup with head tracker.
i spy a tbs caipirinha on the wall…
@@yank-l6y yes sir. Still got it.
