The ingredients used in most of Southeast Asia cuisine is generally the same. They dont come from any one country but is a common feature across the region. Some have their roots in the Malay kingdoms, some in the Thai and Burmese kingdoms. No one can however claim its from any particular country. Its a Southeast Asian thing. Cheers! ✌️😀
Kampung Baru is gazetted as a Malay reserved area, d ownership of land is solely for d Malay. D government is determined to develop this area but d current extremely high cost of land next to d prime area in KL making it very challenging for a new development.
The red sauce you ate is actually called sambal ie cooked with chills, onion, garlic etc. Nasi lemak is basically known as coconut rice bcoz its cooked in coconut milk.
Brilliant video this mate! I’m just back from a couple weeks in Poland! It’s so nice to see how much they are doing for the Ukraine 🇺🇦! Where you off to next bud?
Rojak is a salad that consists of mainly fruit and vegetables. Some vendors usually the Chinese, also include dough sticks and fried bean curd cubes also known locally as tau pok
Hi Martin I have been waiting so happy to see you. Kuala Lumpur is a beautiful city with tall buildings and a bunch of skyscrapers, the city has its charm in the old village. Interesting food hunt very unique for me as I have never been to Malaysia, I enjoyed seeing the delicacies. Thanks to you and your friend for showing us your highlights. Be safe as always brother. 🙏🙏💞💞
Mulvey, Just for yr info, there is NO tomato puree in Rendang, NO tomato sauce in Otak-otak. The red sauce in Nasi Lemak is called Sambal Tumis which is blended dried red chillies, shallots, garlic, tamarind juice, a little shrimp paste & sugar, fried till fragrant. The sourish essence in the sambal in Tamarind juice. Tomato is not the general base for South-east Asia cooking.
Great content again Martin, the food looks proppa ace I would have had to try that Lung dish, Chicken rendang is so nice & Alvin is a great guide, you proppa dropped on with him. I wanted to ask if you dont mind, when did you first find out you could not eat spuds aka potatoes for those that dont know what spuds means..
Yeah it was decent! Alvin was cool on and off camera. Would defo meet up with him again. I found out in about 2008 mate! Kept ending up in hospital on a Friday night after eating fish and chips. 😆 Had lots of tests, intrusive cameras down my throat etc. horrible experience. My nan had the same issue apparently.
@@M88ULV Bloody hell Martin that sounds really bad mate who would of thought fridy fish n chips be so bad for yas. I have bad reactions to something but never found out what, had loads of tests etc but nothing showed up, I end up going bright red, old scars going dark purple, covered in a rash that looks like red n white camo, gets in my eys, down my throat, then struggle to breath etc, thankfully Ive not had one for over a yr now. But I always carry fexofenadine antihistamine 180mg
Nice video !! It seems as though Malaysia is the destination this month for all the lonely vloggers - not sure why others watch people eating street food - I like to look at their faces when they eat something that they know will land them with a gastronomical disaster - Bahahahahaha
You are lucky to stop here because this is how our country was before development and you will find traditional Malay food. If the people here agree to sell their land you will not see this village again
Oh mate I was in Guadalajara in a fish markets and I had something called aguachile. The guy warned me and I joked as usual that I’m fine with not food. It was literally right on the edge of what I can handle. Ruthless stuff!
