Another great video! I was asking myself why you needed to change the DMF and then I read another response... I previously thought that it was the clutch packs that were rattling around, but now it would appear that I need to contemplate a DMF swap. Having done the cam belt and the aux belt, plus all tensioners and idlers, ours is much quieter, but listing to it underneath when it's cold, it chatters away! I can do it (I guess)!
ah mate....this is kicking my ass. I am trying to get the DS out, but using the lever, it us definitely not "just popping out". I'm cranking on it and doesn't budge. I'm shafted...pun intended. OK....I'm going back into battle. I can do it....hopefully. cheers!
Agreed you can do it. I was thinking you get to this point as you have to really yank the drive shaft out. Much harder than feels normal. Have a big lever between the back of the DS and against the box. Max sure it’s on a sturdy part of the box so as not to damage. I did it from under. You can’t slowly spring it off by hand. Needs to be hard sudden force. Lever the DS so the clip is under a bit of tension then give it a yank and it’ll come off. You can do it 👍
@@YoucandoitwithJules I got it out, but my DS has a female end with the male stub shaft coming out of the gearbox. I see your DS has the male bit with splines and the clip at the end. My clip was on the stub. However, there was no clip I think. I can't find it. I mean, there must have been a clip, but it's not on the stub DS in the groove. I can't imagine I am simply meant to slide it back on without a clip there...right? It's mind boggling really. what an adventure!! you make it look 1000 times easier...my hat's off to you mate.
Good question as I was videoing as well. It all depends on if there's any problem bolts to undo . If you know what you are doing takes a good day. Otherwise 2. You can do it 👍
Is this the 7speed dsg box? Seems to be all garages ask ams as soon as I say it's a 7 speed they say they can't do it. I'm wondering what's so bad about the 7 speed if it's different. I have to do this job on a 2016 t6
Yep it's a 7 speed dsg box. It's easy to do if you follow the video to see what's involved. If the garages are refusing to do it then they are not very experienced in VW's. The difference between the 7 speed and other dsg's is that the clutches are wet and inside the gearbox. They may be thinking you want the clutches replaced which is big job. Changing the DMF is easy as there's no clutch to undo. Hope this helps. You can do it 👍
Hi, just watched your video on DMF replacement. Can I ask why it needed replacing? My T5 had a vibration around 1500 rpm and several people suggested it was a problem with the DMF, so I wondered what your problem was. Cheers
What was wrong when you had to change the clutch and dual mass flywheel? Was the van slipping in gear? I have a 07 transporter 2.5 dsg and it started slipping in gear when driving im thinking I need to change the clutch
Luckily I haven’t had to change the clutches just the DMF. You can adjust the clutches with the correct software and that might get you out of trouble. Haven’t done it my self thou. If it’s slipping in gear then definitely the clutches. You can do it 👍
@@mandylad I saw a video online about changing clutches on a dsg not this exact box but gives an idea. Check out RUclips. You must be able to get the clutches from TPS if in the UK. Hope this helps. You can do it 👍

If I remember I show a pic in the video. I noted how far the old one was in and made sure it went in same depth. When I get a chance I’ll re watch the video. Let us know how you get on. Shifting issues should not be a problem as it just supports the end of the shaft. You can do it 👍
If you are talking about the 1/4 for torquing the flywheel bolts. I just do a visual 1/4 turn by noting where the handle of the wrench is. Looking at the video it looks like the needle bearing is set in about 4mm deeper than the edge of the hole your setting it in. Theres also a small hole in the end of bearing cage which you can use the see and test its seated correctly. You can do it👍
After popping the drive shaft off with the crow bar, do I have to replace the clip or will the old one still work? just slide it back on and hear a click?
Thank you for the nice reply. I have a question. I have ridden the Fulan twice and it broke. After the break, the car started to move with a sound and no speed. What do you think is the reason for this thing? Do I have to walk it quietly for a certain kilometer in order to respond to the boats?🥰
Easy removal? So glad it wasn’t hard.
Very well done, great video, I’ll give you a call when mines due for replacement.
It’s a motivational channel. 😂 Easy in hindsight. We Cant let these DSG’s get the better of us ! You can do it 👍

The CV joint at the wheel side fits on the male side of the drive shaft.
