- We heard the cries of the people and we will be documenting a new build series with our newest FJ. In part one of this series we will share our first go-around of the arduous task of putting power windows in the back doors of a Toyota FJ Cruiser. Follow along and watch our in-depth coverage.

I completely agree with you about the main complaint about my FJ, is the lack of rear door window. I will be so excited if these come true and it will be a must for true FJ fans. Save one for me.

Ah at last! I was wondering why there wasn't any traction on this from the first electric window fab. You're creating a type of partnership to distribute this! Great idea and many will appreciate this even if its not DYI from a scratch perspective.

I’ve always wanted these windows to come down!! I, too, transport rescues. I’ve transported all over the country but mostly in west. 2013 TTE. I love these windows..I would love them!! Even if I have to take out a loan to get them…I want them…but you gotta put them in!🙃

While i dont do extreme overlanding, crossting rivers or rock crawling. I do go on road trips to nowhere with my friends and family now and then. Its a group consensus that the back row feels suffocating because of the airplane port windows that do not open. And the lack of natural light able to make it into the cabin due to the narrow windows.
This and sunroofs are a must on the FJ lineup. Im stoked to see this happening and I wish you luck, ill definitely be looking into this when its ready. And id love to see more people explore the sunroof topic as many have stated that the ridges on the roof need addressing as they produce a lot of noise l with the sunroof making them jut out abruptly.
The FJ isn't perfect but we agree there are answers out there. We are happy to say we are nearly done with these windows. We will have a new video coming soon with new information on the build.
Great, also would you consider polypropylene injection molded door cards as an option? If the laid fiber ones are in a finished state they're basically a master template, save for some modifications to make it mold friendly.
Glass and carbon fiber can be both strong and rigid. But the resin degrades over time, exposure to light and heat, and can become brittle. A polypropylene door card would be OE grade, and remain strong and flexible no matter its age or what temperature it experiences.
Additionally, having a molded part rather than a lain part nearly removes the human error in production and will produce less waste than fiber cards in which the expensive resin can encounter any number of failures or simply a lot of produced waste in the laying process. Not to mention the mess of resin, fiber dust and offcuts.
with the polypropylene thermoplastic, the most youd have to do is remove swarf which can be recycled back into the hopper for further use and every part will be formed in minutes while having a consistent outcome.
Additionally, you can buy the pellets in any number of colors or polymers to match whatever finish you are looking for. And with some work to the master template, you could replicate the texture of the OE doorcard.

I’d love to have these! Powered is a plus as you can control from driver side I would assume. Congratulations on moving forward with this mod. I’m total in on this.

My main three interested improvements on the FJA are, 1-retractable mirrors, 2- power rear windows for the rear doors, 3- the opening for the rear door from inside

Would actually love it if the side mirrors could rotate out, horizontal, for when I’m towing my trailer behind.
And the rear window to roll down like the 4Runner
I might go in on this when it comes. My fj is almost payed off so it's about to go above and beyond the lift kit and tires for mods but first is the front winch.

Love the concept, but I'm worried that it will be very costly due to the amount of work. It would be nice if you could apply a core charge for a persons old doors to be made into roll downs to lower the cost on the consumer. Would love to buy some for my 07' TRD.
We are still not sure on pricing or options for installs just yet. We hope to finish this project at some point soon. This project is one of the reasons we started to do regular RUclips videos. We will have an updated video to close out the build at some point soon.

My main question is does it help at all with wind buffeting? My main complaint about my fj is that I can drive with my windows open past 35mph. That buffeting is awful. My 4runner i would just crack my cargo window and could cruise at 60mph plus with no issues.
I hear ya! Wind buffeting is one of the biggest flaws of the FJ and i'm glad to say YES they eliminate the problem, even up to highway speeds!
I have been thinking about getting an FJ but the rear windows not moving has been a big negative for me for my dogs and if this is a thing I may just buy one.

The first version was going for around $10k.
The most expensive part is the R&D that goes into it but unfortunately the first set was never for sale.

I love seeing an average guy do something that the automotive engineers couldn't figure out. And I don't even own an FJ.
Thanks man! Yah, Daryl really just wanted a space for his pups to be able to get some fresh air. With Adrian's help they nailed it. This is take two of this project. The second take involves making this affordable for the FJ community.
