Very thankful i found this video. I have a 2015 3.5 ecoboost and the same thing started happening today. My Initial thought was low oil then maybe sensor or possibly oil pump. Oil was good so I was going to change the sensor but found this video first. It was a bit of a pain to get to as mine is a 4x4 but was able to reach it topside and sprayed it with sensor cleaner and cleaned what I could with a qtip so far it’s been working hopefully it was the issue. I have a 2019 f150 diesel and had a turbo oil leak diagnosed on a change of oil. Low oil pressure warning happened next day. I brought back truck for turbo repair and they could not fix warning. @@JoelG7.3oh okay thank you now I know what to do since I just changed the motor oil and added extra I need to do something with that sensor then thanks bro now I know how to deal wit it 👍🏿👍🏿
Good video but I have found the after changing the part out 3 time in the last 2 years that just running a 40 weight oil instead of the recommended 5-20 and no more leaking sensor I believe the tolerance around the sensor it to loose and the 20 weight oil is simply to thin Forgot to add It's been 70000 mile now and not a drop of oil since switching to the 40w
Cleaned the terminal with DeOxit and put in a new MotorCraft oil switch and all is good. My oil pressure hot when checked with a master gauge was 25 psi. Ford mechanic friend called the corrosion on the terminal ‘fricking’ and says it is pretty common.
I’ve got a similar situation going on but I believe it’s because I didn’t seat the oil dipstick properly. Oil prolly shorted that sensor out I bet! Thanks bro. 🤘
what was the name of the part you added to it.? our truck oil light just came on.. and also the engine overtemp..🤦♀️ any idea if the engine light has to do with the oil light..?

@@JoelG7.3 it definitely is! Not to mention it scares me. I'm always afraid I'm gonna blow it up. I mean my husband would be ecstatic about it but I'd seriously cry. 🤣
Well, it seems like we all have the same problem with our Ford trucks. Mine is a 2012 F-150 5.0 214000 miles. I replaced mine with a Motocraft sending unit. It worked for about a week then started again. I read the comments and so many different fixes. One guy says he started buying gas at a different gas station and it fixed his. I think I am going to change the air pressure in my tires and see if that helps. I am just kidding but one guy said he cleaned his throttle body and that worked. I might try that and see if that helps. It might increase your rpms at idle, but mine does it even when my rpms are up. Who knows?
Same problem on my 3.5l non turbo. First time it was like -10F and the low oil pressure warning went off about an hour from home. Scared the crap out of me. Pulled the truck over and listened to the motor, was quiet with no ticking like it was low on oil. Checked the oil level was fine so I drove it. Has gone off intermittently since but now is almost continuous. So i have to deal with it now. Also my hood latch is giving false alarms. Can't use the alarm system and it goes off constantly. Only thing I like about this 2017 F150 is the aluminum body. Stuff like this really sours me on Fords. Don't think I'll buy another Ford. Buffalo Rusty Salt belt is really hard on vehicles.
This is happening to me as well. Everytime i hit a stop sign or light it goes off like mad, give it gas and fine but now does it while driving. I just changed my oil weeks ago too.
I had the same issue for my ford 2013, and I bought the spray cleaner. Nd sprayed it all over the black cover nd cleaned it with quittips nd ran my truck for a while and no beeping sound thank goodness
I’m having the same issue, I replaced the oil pressure sensor with a cheaper aftermarket, watched your video and replaced it again with the motocraft one, still having the same issue. I think my next step is taking it to the shop.
2006, Lincoln Mark Lt was being driven one day 1.5 years ago and the oil light came on, and it stopped. It had to be towed. The mechanic / shop said cylinder 6 had no compression. I'm saying all of this because it is my bfs truck, a truck he loved, and I want to find a way to fix it but not sure if it really is a matter of an engine replacement? I know nothing about trucks or cars. I dont want to piss him off by asking random questions from what I read you know? Is there a way to do this without exceeding the value of it? It had over 200k when this happened.
I had the same problem, all I did was changed gas stations and it quit doing it, since the price of gas went up I used a different station and it started doing it again. Buying my gas at conoco from now on.
Just curious. I think my truck has been submerged. I replaced the sending unit already but what do you think water could have done? Of course I am having this same problem. It is a 4x4 and this sending unit is a total bitch to get to as well so have to dive back in there again. What kind of cleaner did you use? I would assume brake parts cleaner, carb cleaner would work? Thanks.
I did buy the sensor from Ford. I haven’t put it in yet due to lack of time. I did spray 1/2 can of carb cleaner around the sensor trying to see what size and how to get the connector off without breaking it ….so far the light has stayed off. I still intend on changing the pressure sensor when work slows down.
Mine did this when I was driving, like 60 mph down the road. It dings low oil pressure, then the wrench flashes on the screen and it loses power. The ford dealership said, well, sometimes we just can’t figure out what’s wrong with a truck 🤦🏻♀️
I had the same issue for months. Tried this and it didn't help. I also noticed that it seemed to be idling at lower RPMs, so I decided to look at the throttle body. It was horrible. Removed it and cleaned it with throttle body cleaner, reinstalled it, and never had an issue again. Now it idles at around 650rpm where it was idling around 500rpm before cleaning. The oil pump connects to the timing chain, so the lower the rpms, the slower it turns and the less oil it pumps. Maybe it was just idling too low to keep the oil pressure up because of the dirty throttle body.
FOr me, (f150 2014) its happening only when its cold outdoors 40F when i take kids to school, but not when i pick them up, once it heats up it seems not to happen anymore. same symptom as you. flat dead needle with warning light, then comes right back to normal, thats why i thought it was the instrument cluster. i was able to trigger the needle to start to drop, (it dropped twice to 1/4) when i banged in my cluster with my nuckles, after alot of banging (not too hard dont want to crack) but not banging anywhere else. i was thinking it was in dash (expensive). I havent sen this before, but il guessing it could also be a cheap oil sensor, and a partially clogged oil filter, since im due now to change my oil and it just started. its plausible that its not a FOMOCO sensor. well, ill clean it first, and change my oil/filter first. Thanks. If i get a reply here after a week or two, ill probably be able to tell you if it worked or not.

I changed my oil pressure censor but it's doing it now more than ever and that's while driving it. I just stop and shut it off, restart and it clears it. I will try cleaning the through body now.
I have a 14 F150 5.0 with 200+ miles.. and the oil pressure sensor comes on at idle. Basically, had the same symptoms. The warning came ON when on idle but if I shifted it to Park it would go away. Anyways, went down there and it was leaking so I decided to replace it with an OE part. Unfortunately, the same warning came ON more frequently. I don't know what the hell is going on! I made sure the connector was cleaned. I sprayed electronic cleaner and I even blew the connector with compressed air. Currently it's not leaking but the warning is most consistent and I don't know what it could be. If someone has any ideas that would be highly appreciated.
@@purgatory671 yeah man. So the update is that I changed the oil pan gasket. It’s reusable but mine was gone so I went to buy a new one. Put it on, torqued it down to specs, changed the oil pressure sensor and although the low pressure message came ON for like two days, after that it never came back ON. Idk if changing the oil pan gasket also helped or the computer just needed time to adjust for the new oil pressure sensor. But I haven’t seen the message ever since all that. Good luck my friend.
Figured this is what’s going on with mine. I’ve got a leak right there oils all over the plug. It hasn’t done it recently but I’m willing to bet this is the issue

One important fact you left out was what the oil pressure gauge on the dashbooard showed - low, no, high, normal, etc. It looked normal from a distance, but if it was low or no then you might suspect a bad oil pump or clog somewhere.

I have a 2019 f150 diesel and had a turbo oil leak diagnosed on a change of oil. Low oil pressure warning happened next day. I brought back truck for turbo repair and they could not fix warning. I bet oil from changing it or turbo leak messed up sensor. Headed out to buy sensor cleaner. Hope that works. Dealership was going to open engine up to get to oil pump on Monday.
2012 Ford Edge starting doing this about 2 weeks ago so I’m going to give this a shot.
How did it work for you?
Same here going to the parts store now
So what oil would that be motor oil so would that be low pressure oil pressure sensor for the motor oil
Yes
@@JoelG7.3oh okay thank you now I know what to do since I just changed the motor oil and added extra I need to do something with that sensor then thanks bro now I know how to deal wit it 👍🏿👍🏿
Good video but I have found the after changing the part out 3 time in the last 2 years that just running a 40 weight oil instead of the recommended 5-20 and no more leaking sensor I believe the tolerance around the sensor it to loose and the 20 weight oil is simply to thin
Forgot to add It's been 70000 mile now and not a drop of oil since switching to the 40w
Nice! That’s pretty interesting
Cleaned the terminal with DeOxit and put in a new MotorCraft oil switch and all is good. My oil pressure hot when checked with a master gauge was 25 psi. Ford mechanic friend called the corrosion on the terminal ‘fricking’ and says it is pretty common.
My god thank you! This damn oil pressure stuff was about to drive my crazy and cost me more money. Had enough problems out of the same model truck.
Glad to help.

Can I use brake cleaner to clean the contactor? Thanks

That's what my dad taught me.
I’ve got a similar situation going on but I believe it’s because I didn’t seat the oil dipstick properly. Oil prolly shorted that sensor out I bet! Thanks bro. 🤘
Do you have vid on cleaning connector
Nah I just had sprayed it with the cleaned and used a q tip and wiped it out.
what was the name of the part you added to it.? our truck oil light just came on.. and also the engine overtemp..🤦♀️ any idea if the engine light has to do with the oil light..?
I think the oil pressure sensor is what I replaced and cleaned it. I’m not sure if the engine light has to do with that.
I’m going to give it a whirl. Thanks brother
Yessir!
Is the part called an : oil pressure sensing unit? Is that what you said
Update??
I have same issue. I replaced the harness plug and the sending unit. Still dinging at an idle.
Did you clean it ?
Thanks for posting this video brother . I keep having the light on my 2013 Ford F-150 5.0 FX2 come on the same way as you. It’s not loosing power or doing anything else thank god. I guess I can pick up the contact cleaner at auto zone or something like that? As for the Ford brand part do I need to buy through Ford or can I also pick that up and auto zone type place?
Any electrical contact cleaner.
did contact cleaner fix it?
Did you say the oil pressure ding came on when you are at an idle when engine is up to operating temperature? Mine is doing that when I slow to an idle . THANKS
Yes it came on mostly at idle but it did want to ding when the rpms where going down also... aka when we were coming to a stop

Hopefully it helps. We had this dinging for like 2 years it was so annoying.

@@littlered1013 sorry to hear
I will figure it out one way or another.
Dang sounds like a collection on issues
Link of those headlight brother looks great
@@gilbertodiaz5620 I think they came from American Trucks website but they discontinued this exact style
This is happening to me as well. Everytime i hit a stop sign or light it goes off like mad, give it gas and fine but now does it while driving. I just changed my oil weeks ago too.
Sounds like same issue we had.
I had the same issue for my ford 2013, and I bought the spray cleaner. Nd sprayed it all over the black cover nd cleaned it with quittips nd ran my truck for a while and no beeping sound thank goodness
Glad it worked!
@@JoelG7.3 saving lives out here🙏🏼
Thank you for this. I hope with the info you shared and the stuff from other similiar videos, I will stop this damned dinging.
Hopefully it does. it is very annoying.
I’m having the same issue, I replaced the oil pressure sensor with a cheaper aftermarket, watched your video and replaced it again with the motocraft one, still having the same issue. I think my next step is taking it to the shop.
I had a high oil pressure Ford f150 2018 2019
👏👏👏 I’ve been dealing with this close to two years... and you just fixed it! Can’t thank you enough! 👍👍
Has it done it since you did it?
@@josh13369 hasn’t happened again since 👍
Is it still not doing it?
so you were running the truck with the oil dropping for a full 2 years and never had issues....>?
@@Noob_Crew_Sledders the oil pressure isn't actually dropping, just resistance in the wire from the oil.
Thanks.
Not sure on the water, and yeah the 2wd is easy to get to. I just used some like contact cleaner with a Q-tip
Thank you, damn light started dinging today on a jobsite. I t runs fine, no noises…Iwill try it tonight.
Yep sounds like the same issue. Hopefully it works for you.
I replaced oil pressure sensors but the issue continued. I fix it by also replacing the pigtail to the oil sensor.
Mine did this when I was driving, like 60 mph down the road. It dings low oil pressure, then the wrench flashes on the screen and it loses power. The ford dealership said, well, sometimes we just can’t figure out what’s wrong with a truck 🤦🏻♀️
That was nice of them 😂 This truck never lost power it just would ding.
I do what you said but the pickup still turning of. What do you think may be the next step?
Mechanic then. This truck wasn’t actually loosing pressure.
My wife's 2016 Ford Explorer 3.5L started doing this. Cleaned connector & also added dielectric grease to sender/connector.
So far so good. 👍
Glad to hear
Has it still stayed off?
@@Kanesgarage the truck is sold as of a month ago but no ever since this video it never came back up.
@@Kanesgarage Yes. Our's did.
Yeah we never had an rpm issue it was just the alarm going off.
Can you elaborate some more on what you did? I noticed RPMs are a little off after the low oil pressure alarm came on and stalled the truck. Thanks.
Same issue here, completely out of nowhere, the light comes on...I will clean the contact and see what happens.
If the duralast switch triggers a warning at 4psi and the OEM one triggers at 7psi the OEM switch is more sensitive.
Hell yea thanks so much man. This same thing was happening to my sons truck and we still need to fix it but we are going to do exactly what you did .

Am gonna replace the oil pressure sending unit and hope that will do it but am unsure which one it is can you tell me where it's located? just wanna make sure it's the right one since I know theirs other sensors lurking around

I had the same thing on my 2012 f 150 I had a oil leak a the sending unit that I replaced with unit from oriels then started having oil light come on at stop signs for my truck I changed to 5/30 oil and got another sending unit from ford the hole on bottom of of ford unit was half the size of the one from parts store that stoped the oil pressure from dropping at stops
Yeah seems to be a common problem.
I changed my oil pressure censor but it's doing it now more than ever and that's while driving it. I just stop and shut it off, restart and it clears it. I will try cleaning the through body now.
Yes cleaning the sensor fixed that issue for us,
I have a 14 F150 5.0 with 200+ miles.. and the oil pressure sensor comes on at idle.
Not sure on my end. Hope you figure it out
Have you had any good news? Sounds similar to mine without the parking quirk.

What if you drive without an oil pressure?
If it actually has low oil pressure it probably won’t run. In this case it didn’t actually have low oil pressure.

One important fact you left out was what the oil pressure gauge on the dashbooard showed - low, no, high, normal, etc. It looked normal from a distance, but if it was low or no then you might suspect a bad oil pump or clog somewhere.
It clearly shows in the video the gauge drops flat to nothing when warning pops up then it goes back up to normal half way when the warning stops
