Greetings brothers and sisters! It's been over a year since my last recording. During that time, I've been spending every free moment building a house for my family. We're still a couple of months away from being able to move in but when that time comes, I hope to be able to record and post at least once a month while we keep finishing the house. Hang in there!

Every piece of rebar in the foundation, every yard of concrete, every board and nail, window, wire, pipe, etc. My wife and I and her father have done about 90% of it with a buddy of mine and a friend of my wife's family helping with the other 10%. It's been quite a journey and we're ready to be done with it. But I know we'll be very proud once we finally get moved in.

As an atheist with religious trauma, hearing these songs oddly enough doesn’t bring me back bad memories. I guess that’s just the power of music for you. Hey! I was thinking about you last week and wondering how things were going with your house. Glad to hear it's coming along and that you're close to being done! Philip Bliss was an amazing hymn writer and certainly one of the greats. He wrote this song after listening to DL Moody deliver a sermon, in which an incident in Cleveland Harbor was used as an object. Had the lighthouse's lower lights been working correctly, tragedy would have been avoided. Thanks for finding the time to record 😄

    Brightly beams our father's mercy
    From his lighthouse evermore
But to us he gives the keeping
Of the lights along the shore
Let the lower lights be burning
Send a gleam across the wave
    Some poor fainting, struggling seaman
You may rescue, you may save
Dark the night of sin has settled
    Loud the angry billows roar
    Eager eyes are watching, longing
For the lights along the shore
Let the lower lights be burning
Send a gleam across the wave
    Some poor fainting, struggling seaman
You may rescue, you may save

This channel is "A Cappella Hymns". So providing chord names on the sheet music slides will likely never be a focus of mine.
But the song is in Bb Major. It starts on the I (Bb). Then goes to a IV (Eb) on "mercy". Then to a major II (C) on "light". "But to us" is back on I. "Keeping" is back to IV". Then "Lights along the" is V (F). And back to I at the end of the first verse. The chorus is IV, I, Major II, V, I, IV, V, I.
If you are capoed on the 3rd fret, you can play in G position. So it would *look like* - G, C, A (major), and D.
If you have any questions, feel free to let me know.
