Thank you for the demonstration!! It is very clear and useful information .We expect pattern carpet seaming and pattern matching demonstration as well..
You do an awesome job at explaining your work and I am a DIY guy and I have followed your videos and advice on installing carpet and I have to admit it looks like a professional job. So thank you for your videos! I have liked all that I have watched and I have subscribed to your channel. Thanks again!
@@FloorsbySouthernboys , I also use ,,actually a drywall t-square. I used to do it like this , I would use my straight edge to keep the length straight, push my cross up against it! Do you have to seal all seams? I always did regardless! Now it's required again on all carpets in Ohio. Used to be Berbers and karastans. But one dollar and twenty minutes have saved me a lot of headaches I'm sure. I don't do videos so on other videos when people ask questions I send them to your channel. I use different techniques than you a lot but yours are correct, there are so many videos that I watch that the guys are just hack that I can't believe they would put it on Utube!!
Ruben I like your videos and I’m not in any way debating your style but over the last 50+- years of installing I’ve found some quicker ways on cutting what we call the “butt” seams. Throw that straight edge away first of all. Use that same seam cutter you used on the long side seam. Just use the blade closest to the piece your going to use so it cuts close to the yarn. No flipping carpet over two times and as you said the yarn covers over the seam edge. Just a tip from an ole guy 🙄
@@fitfloors1473 what does that matter...you are straight edging from the back. The guy just said that his straight edge cut wasn't straight in the video that's why notching helps. Use a square off your row run side and your fill pieces are going together just fine
Great video. Just a curious question. Is it okay to cross seam the 3 pieces together and then make a row cut on the piece thats made up by the 3 pieces and then seamed together with the 12ft wide carpet?
Yes sir if the rows in the carpet are not straight when you row cut it will throw off you’re straight edge pieces just a little bit , This way it’s perfect every time
Always cut your side seams with nap falling down also you could of layed all 3 pieces face down and place your straight edge over 2 pieces so you can cut both without moving straight edge and after seaming sides cut the length seam last.
Basicly why to seal the seam if taylor seamiron do it at the same time thanks i will appreciate your answer because i am thinking buy one of those but if works the same as a regular seaming iron other than the ligth idon 't see a benefit thanks
So the model 890 doesn't weld the seam because i looks like the 893 it has the thing on back of the iron that do the welding action so wichone iron welds welds
Hi good demo but i don't understand wy dibyou seal the seam if TAYLOR seaming iron supposed to do itbatbthe same time so for me don not make sense buy an expesive seaming iron but great video
I’ve come across plenty of jobs where rookies have tried to install rooms and they cut the carpet wrong or they run two different carpets in the wrong different directions or someone butches the carpet up so bad that you have to put a head seam in which in the carpet world is a no no!
Yeah you’re definitely running into some crazy things installing carpet, the standard on Cross sees is tuned, you are allowed to have three pieces to make a fill
am I just stupid? I cannot figure out how to save this video. Do authors have the ability to prevent a watcher from saving their video to a play list??? ..... just checked, apparently they do. Thank you Nick

Great demonstration Ruben! 👍
Thank you Sean
Nice job !!
I cut the cross seams with a T square instead double cut but every one have different options.
That works too, thanks for watching And thanks for the feedback

Love your installation experience professionally placed and displayed 5 years into carpet and I'll always take what you say with a golden eye my guy
Great job on the video, I learn some great techniques. Thank you for posting. I'll be laying some carpet soon and need to do two seams.
Awesome, good luck with your project buddy
Nice job Reuben. 👊🏻
Thanks Anthony

Nice demonstration. Wondering if you have a video showing the best technique for doing cross seams in a berber carpet.
Interesting. I'll give it a try on my next one.
Use a square and you avoid all that and can cut all fill sides without notching
Rows are not always straight

@@ejg34 wat if ur 2 row sides are different?
@@fitfloors1473 you mean like a light row and dark row? On cross seams that will not be apparent like it is with length seams
@@ejg34 no like when the long seam sways in and out

Well I don’t know about that but thank you anyhow, I’m glad you enjoy the videos
Very nice I wish there were videos like this 20 yrs agowhen I did this full time. What brand of knee pads are those and how do you like them?
proknee and i love them
Trevor, pricey but worth the investment. They last forever!
After I row cut my fill pieces I will use a T square to cut my head Seams just to make sure I cut it straight. Just what I do
what is the hot glue used for before the seaming?
Great video. Just a curious question. Is it okay to cross seam the 3 pieces together and then make a row cut on the piece thats made up by the 3 pieces and then seamed together with the 12ft wide carpet?
It’s always best to make your row cuts First then your cross seam cut. That way you can be assured that your rose or in a perfect mine
Have you ever tried to cut both sides of cross seams using a straight edge and square?
Yes sir if the rows in the carpet are not straight when you row cut it will throw off you’re straight edge pieces just a little bit , This way it’s perfect every time

You are thinking of a different iron, I do not on the weld iron by Taylor. This one is the 89OL the one you are thinking of is the 893L
So the model 890 doesn't weld the seam because i looks like the 893 it has the thing on back of the iron that do the welding action so wichone iron welds welds
@@lardtamps the 893 is the weld iron
I have a question, if teh 890L already has a "seam welder" at the back, why did you have to "seam weld", with a separate gun? Thank You.
the 893 is the seam welder, different iron
No board underneath!?
ALWAYS, when possible, make seams over board or on a solid surface.
Hi good demo but i don't understand wy dibyou seal the seam if TAYLOR seaming iron supposed to do itbatbthe same time so for me don not make sense buy an expesive seaming iron but great video

Yeah you’re definitely running into some crazy things installing carpet, the standard on Cross sees is tuned, you are allowed to have three pieces to make a fill
How long/tall are the fibers on this carpet?
What do you do when the main piece isn't straight in the seam?
Some carpet you can row cut it
Yes sir almost all carpet can be row cut either direction
Why don’t you straight edge all the fill pieces first? Why the overlap and cut through?
Because sometimes the rows in the carpet are not straight and it will throw off your head seems if they are pre-straight aged
Not all carpets row cut.. Mr I don't use a Strait edge.. Have you ever been to a carpet mill...
No sir I have not been to a mill
I da bet
