Great review. I have the same machine but in Oxford blue. I love mine. I got a 72” cam am plow fir mine since I live in northeast PA. Went with a can am hard coat poly front windshield. This is a beast. Glad I went with the hd10 vs hd9. I did have 1 issue with mine. At like 50 miles I couldn’t start it. It would just click but not crank. Had it back to dealer for warrant and it was a bad starter. Other than that love this machine. I also live on a 130 acre farm and it is so useful. My wife loves it for cleaning up around our house. Thanks for sharing
+Brian S Awesome! We haven’t seen a blue one but I bet it looks awesome! We love the machine too. It’s amazing. We use it everyday. I’m glad they fixed the starter. We haven’t had any issues yet and I hope we don’t get any! Enjoy your 130 acres! I bet you live in paradise:) Been to Pennsylvania many times and love it!
Great Review!! I have two questions that I consider with every possible side-by-side UTV purchase. Noise Level & Engine Heat Shielding. Can you carry on a conversation with the passenger? And is there enough heat shielding to prevent a hot seat and hot cab area? The way the seat folds up on this model, I don't think a hot seat would be a problem, but what about behind the seat? Thanks
Thanks for watching our review. I still really love this sxs. Noise level is not bad considering the engine is right behind you in the cab. I can easily carry on conversation with the wife and kids. Honestly it did surprise me how quiet it is. I was expecting it to be louder. That being said, if you have the bed of the side-by-side in the dump position, it is really loud. As far as the heat is concerned there are zero issues. Seats do not heat up at all. If anything heats up it’s the dump bed. Hope this helps.
Excellent review and quality video. We just bought a 2023 XT HD9 after test driving it and the Honda Pioneer 1000 5. So much smoother and ergonomic, but yes the power steering squeal is noticeable. Does this fade or get worse over time, or do you just tune it out eventually? Thanks for the great content, best video on this model I’ve found yet.
It’s funny you ask. I don’t notice the squealing at all anymore. I’m not sure if I got used to it or it’s not there. I’ll pay attention to it tomorrow when I drive it. lol thanks for the kind words. Enjoy your sidexside
How do you find the under carriage to hold up? We had a kubota and it was too small so we were always replacing bushings. We just bought and defender xt hd10 at auction. Low miles. Crossing our fingers it hangs together. We farm and will put about 5000 miles on a year.
Thanks for the great review. I have just ordered one of these with the double cab. They look awesome and can handle anything. We have a large property so I love the inclusion of the winch to help us (mostly my guy since he seems to get into situations that need rescuing) get out of any tricky situations.
Awesome! You will love the machine! We really wanted the double cab, but we needed a smaller machine with a good turn radius to get everywhere on our property (especially in our woods and around trees to pull them out for our sawmill). That is why we chose the single row of seats. Anyway- Congrats on your machine. You and your guy will enjoy it! It's built tough!! What state do ya'll live in?
@@CollinsCountry We have 400acres in the Hunter Valley (NSW, Australia). We do have a 2017 Can Am defender and love it, but really wanted more grunt and more space for showing friends around.
+Faith Hynoski Oh my goodness. That is AMAZING!!!!! We have never been to Australia but it’s on the bucket list for sure!!!!!!!! We are always amazed at the people we meet from all over the world with our little RUclips channel. Enjoy those amazing 400 acres and the new side by side. I bet your land is beautiful!!!!
I'm looking at the xt hd9. I'd like that you explain the differences in trim or models. That was helpful. Like to get a windshield and half doors. Possibly a rear window as well. That tailgate rated at 250 lbs that raises questions though.
+Joe Ellis Glad we could help! We had trouble finding these details and specific review information when we were looking to buy a side by side, so we though we would share it with other people. Honestly, we don’t like how cheap the tailgate feels but the rest of the machine is built so well that it doesn’t bother us. We have loaded the back with rocks and dirt, etc. the tailgate hasn’t been an issue… But if a nicer, stronger tailgate is available we will probably update it. We just haven’t found one yet… Good luck on your hunt for an awesome machine.
Two and a half years later, how has the reliability been? I would like to give Can Am a serious look due to the design, but I am a big fan of the reliability of Honda and Yamaha. We are currently wanting to upgrade a 15 year old Yamaha Rhino. I really did nothing to the Rhino for 10+ years.
+Steve Roper Thank you! It really is a great machine. We regret not buying one sooner! We use it almost every day on our farm… And yes. We will be hauling a lot more of those family Christmas trees 😆
Preciate the in-action segment at the end. That tree pull was impressive. I need something for tree and snow work here in the Sierras and I am pretty sure I need to go HD10…
+Harley662006 Hey there! If you’re wanting something for tree and snow removal I would go with the HD10. We have done so much work with this machine already and it hasn’t struggled at all with anything!!! And the Sierras??? That’s awesome! It’s beautiful out there!
I love my 2022 HD10 XT. However, that tailgate is flimsy. So are the plastic brackets the dump bed tilts on and those are the only place to mount a rear bumper. Adjusting the shock preload is easy. Plenty of power. I thought I wanted a Honda Pioneer 1000, but the Can-Am seating position is a million times more comfortable for me. Oh and those side bolsters on the XT seats are very nice if you do any technical riding.
+ChipsterB Same! We love ours. It’s a nice machine but we definitely wish the tailgate was much stronger! It is roomy though and we haven’t taken it technically riding yet but we will:) So far we have just been using it in our farm…
Hi,we have a series of UTV and ATV ,Truck and Jeep aftermarket accessories, now we are looking for some people to evaluate the can am defender led turn signal DRL lights , are you interested?
+summer lee Hello there! Sounds like something we would be interested in:) Send us an email with all of the information to our email at collinscountry13@gmail.com. Hopefully we can collaborate and test out the product(s)! Thanks!
In 4WD they do tear up the lawn if not careful. Otherwise not bad. Obviously if it’s wet out you can tear the lawn up worse. I never notice anything here unless it’s winter. We have wet snows and rains and I typically tear up lawn in a few spot.
I did not compare it to the sidekick. I do love kubota products but…. My brother has the diesel side by side and I hated it enough to just not even give it a thought. Lol
+UBUY MOTOR Hello there! That sounds like something we would be interested in. Please email us at collinscountry13@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
+Road Dog Hey! We do want seats in the back for the kids. They are removable. It will be nice… Anyway- The front hood of the side-by-side is removable and there is small storage space there and I believe the bottle for the coolant in the radiator but that’s about it. The engine is underneath the bed of the side-by-side. The battery is located underneath the passenger seat. I hope that helps!
I have a 2021 hd10 limited. It's not quick. But it's fast. I live in Southern New Mexico. Its road legal. I run 30" tires. Top speed at 6500 rpm 68 mph. It will cruces all day at 60. I use mine like another vehicle. Except one thing to be aware of . The cost of maintenance. And how frequently of maintenance. I have over 8 thousand miles on mine and don't plan on getting rid of it. Great machine!
I don’t believe so. From quick google search looks like only can be used on roads if used for farming purposes. You could probably put a slow moving vehicle sign on the vehicle and get by with that.
Best review I’ve seen yet. Thanks for being real.

Yes. We bought ours separately

They make a 2 gun gun rack that mounts under the center seat on the hd10
