Great review and spot on. The 2020 Limited is awesome. I use it as a mini truck. Travel back roads to my vacant property 10 miles north. Use it for back road cruising with the wife and/or dog. Have the quick attach Pro Mount snow plow along with a disc harrow, cultipacker , sprayed and spreader. The heat and AC work great and the sound proofing make long rides enjoyable.
I have one and love it. As suggested by Dirt Trax, I took off the factory shocks and springs and put on Elko stage 5 shock and springs. Now the side by side rides like a dream! ! The only gripe I have is that the A!C really doesn’t work that well. It just doesn’t get cold enough. Don’t expect it to work like the A/C in your truck. This is a well sealed unit which keeps just about all of the dust out and I would venture to say it’s the quietest full cab UTV on the market by far.
"Allows you to take along a wider range of riders who might be affected by warm or cold temperatures" KY translation: "ur wife won't b*tch so much when u wanna run er when it's hotter than the hounds o hell out"
We have had both the limited and north star neither of the models are built to hold up. Both Ac units went out and never cooled the cab. We live in Georgia and use mostly on the weekends farming. The dealerships sale them and walk away. You just get the shaft. I wish kawasaki and yamaha would get in the HVAC market.
I also have one I got HD8 supention and it works great for hauling wood and going off-road when needed I highly recommend this for people that can afford it 😃!!!!!!!
@@SkyHigh_177 So far so good. I've cold started it and had it out at -30f. Took a bit to warm up so I put a piece of cardboard blocking some of the radiator. This winter average has been about-15f. It performs flawlessly at those temps. No need to particularly block the radiator. We're really enjoying it. Fun and comfortable
I just got done washing and using turtle wax ice old formula not the new one what I had left and still have some on our “OG” maverick turbo and 2015 outlander 800r xtp.
Have a ranger north star at work. The fully kitted out utility units are simply not fun to drive on the trail. We got the north star stuck up to the doors in mud and couldnt get out. Couldnt open the doors and the windows are on a small latch. Atleast this can am has roll down windows.
Hopefully cruis controll, i took my 2020 defender xt on a highway trip here in montana 130 miles.round trip tried to keep it at 60 mph the whole way. But i kept going to 64-65 as i have a lead foot. Only was passed by cars a few times. They are sure footed lil suckers even at that speed on dry pacement
I sure hope not ABS, keep that stuff outta this sport. But to be honest I could see that and traction control at some point rearing it's ugly head. I think we can over feature these things at a point and make them less fun. ~AJ
Love this machine, even if ac and roll up windows is overkill, its just so cool. The ac/heat would be nice especially in oregon, you never know if its gonna be hot or cold haha. Would be nice if it had a turbo model and long travel shocks as an option though
Agreed! This summer's been stupid hot so the AC was nice. We use these HVAC models as our chase vehicles when we go out to shot. Nice to stay cool and geta break from the bugs too!
Love the review! Love the machine! In many places in the western US, we can drive them ON the road. Here (Nevada) it's a $20.00 sticker and liability ins. No freeways. Same with AZ, SD, UT, WY ect. Since this has grown so much, consider adding another test. Will it comfortably drive 40 to 50 mph? (65 to 80 kmh) A/C? Hell YEAH! C'mon Can AM, FOX 2.0's for that price! Thanks for the review DIrt Trax!
I should add that in for sure, actually yesterday I was using this rig for some ITP wheels/tire review and had to road run it a bunch. I noticed some serious driveline noise inside the cab at higher speeds on hardtop, I believe the cab is becoming a resonator for anything happening under the rig, making a stereo even more needed lol. Handling, power and usability at higher speed on the road was really good though, possibly some vagueness in the steering but I don't expect off-road tires to deliver the same precision on road. We are able to run the roads here as well, certain places are restricted but most of the secondary stuff is fair game. Thanks for checking out the review, and for your comments. ~AJ
Agree 100 percent the shocks need a upgrade especially at this price i think even the OG commander limiteds had a air suspension or something 🤔...great vid again boys
Can you shift in and out of 4 wheel drive while it moving, or do you have to stop like a Polaris? We love our NorthStar, but will definitely have to take a look at the CanAm.
You can shift in and out just like you can with the polaris. Dont know why you think you need to stop with the Polaris. I never have. Its best to avoid shifting INTO 4X4 when your turning and not a good idea when the wheels are spinning. But as long as your just cruising, its totally fine.
I really like your video you guys are acknowlegable you didn't miss any details. I am totally in agreement with you. I am a serious buyer and to Carrier extra weight with the upgraded options by 2021 i was expecting, a minimum of 110 horse power. That why is the Can am limited and increase in transmission torque from factory. Hopefully by 2022 the Can Am ingeniars has this resolved. I will purchase one if they improve because I like the Can am limited. Thank you for the nice 👌 video.
It's a great point. They're getting so close to having every amenity trucks do, they just fit down regular trails, etc. Definitely not for the average buyer. Still cool nonetheless and there is a market for them.
They do i had a 2019 Defender HD5, DPS out the door with a three year extended warrenty was 10,500 total 9850 for just the umit by its self. To be honest it was a very cabable amd sure footed unit to say the least.and the factory maxis tires that came with it were a very good general use good in the mud, snow, and on ice.. it Started every time even at 32 below zero. Very spunky unit the only reason i traded up was for.more speed. It had all the power you needed to 50 mph and that was all she wrote. I run with buddies that go alot faster so they Were always waiting for me to catch up. So now i can hang with.much better. Plus that single cylinder sounded fantastic, just a thumper.
Great Side X Side. Very informative. I like the new options. Even though it has a lot of nice options, I think for $25k, I'd rather have a truck. Thank you for sharing this with us. Did I see a wad of chewing tobacco in AJ's bottom lip.??

one comment I have heard, and would be interested in your perspective. When you ride in a completely enclosed cab, do you lose touch with the terrain..... feel like you're in a truck and NOT in a side by side? seems like you get a sxs to have that wind in your hair type feeling...
Open-air experience. I get it. Nah, it is definitely a different experience being in an enclosed on the trails, but dang that heat in the cold and AC in the hot temps is really nice.
Not %100 sure what your asking here. All can ams have a High/Low/Neutral/Reverse/Park transmission that runs power into a CVT. Theres no "shifting gears". It is most certainly a full functional automatic. Ive never heard of a vehicle that shifts into low range by itself. Once you select either low or high range, the belt transmission does all the shifting for you.
Kubota is more work then pleasure. Utilitarian interior, top speed of 32 to 35 mph, has heat and a/c that work great and the one plus is that Kubota's have a PTO. Trail riding is not their forte.

@@kenndogg7469 Thanks for helping us out here. I haven't ran it dry with ac on and then off. But i'm guessing since a car/truck ac takes 4-7hp to run it would take at least 2-4 here and that should impact fuel consumption by 5-10% I would think. Those are just numbers I'm pulling outta thin air though LOL ~AJ

Did you get it yet?? How’s it running in the cold? 🥶 does it start up easy after 2 days in the cold just asking??? 😎😎😎

No stereo at this price point is criminal!
It is a strange thing to NOT include on a unit like this. All of us at Dirttrax have said exactly the same thing.
