It's alright that Candace got cut after this because I honestly believe that this year is her time to shine.
I was so stunned and angry when Candice was cut that year.....cause it wasn't about the voice but the styling. Candice was only four years older, but looked ten. So glad she won. Taylor Hicks is the only contestant who got away with looking old in what is really a teen pop competition.
Never get tired of watching this performance after 2yrs :-)
There hasn't been a group in American Idol history that could touch that performance. I've watched it countless time too.

I love both Jessica and Candice! I agree with the levels but I'm thinking also that maybe Candice's voice would have sounded much richer and stronger in a lower key. She had to go with a key that suited the other two voices better. Candice is rich and jazzy! Which is kind of unfair really.
Hmmm last season Candice lacked stage presence and after being sent home packing after two failed attempts, she watched and listened as to what they looked for in an American Idol, she figured it out and went for it and boy girl never stopped and won it all this season...WTG Candice!
Is there really a need to dis Jessica? The two women are good friends and support each other. They are different - one 17, one 23. All three of these singers MADE this performance amazing. It will always be one of my favorite Idol moments.
My favorite part was when Candice pointed to the judges, and sang "YOU WON'T MATTER!"

Love how Steven say "Praise the Lord" @ the end! Love Steven but they messed up BIG TIME on this one! It should have been Candice, DeAndre and Joshua Ledet. No offence to Jessica. But Jessica and DeAndre never really gave Candice a chance to show off her voice.
I like all of these singer separately but I thought this song and arrangement sounded really bad. The three of them all over did it, but the song itself was the main problem.

I agree with you no need to dis Jessica but I will say I am not estactic with her cd but understand they had to "pop' her out because she is so young and I guess it sells better unless r&b done right with pop flavor. I just wonder if she is happy with it deep down because that girl loves r&b to her soul.
on a lighter point of view, things are much much better for candice now. she is shining this season. i love her actually. i' was sorry she was not in the final set last season, but now im happy because i know there's a reason. She has a good chance of winning this season 12, at least to land in the final 3. I hope she performs again with deandre and jessica soon.
Agree. Candice said when she found out who the judges were this season, it prompted her 2 come back & audition again. I'm so glad she decided 2 come back. You're right, ONLY Mariah saw something in Candice from the beginning. But I like the fact that Nicki continued 2 question why she didn't make it thru on last year & Keith reiterated his mistake 4 not putting her in his top 3 pick by being man enough 2 change his mind....And Randy, not really sad he's leaving. See ya.
Jessica screamed a lot but she didn't sing (and the operative word here is SING) better than anyone in the group....and because of the comments in the comment section, I'm actually listening carefully to each singer.
Frankly, they all did spectacular. From what I saw of Jess and Josh, I didn't like all of their performances but in this, they and Candice did a wonderful job. I would've been hardpressed to cut anyone in this group.
I agree and this was just last season and Randy was the judge so it had to be Jennifer that voted against her, she sounds the same and really can sing so Randy is telling a story why this season she is okay but just last season she didn't cut it she sounds gospel like here and as she did the other night. Randy wasn't for giving many blacks a chance because if you look their were no black females and just 1 black guy, so this year we had 6 at least and some were cut.
I have watched Idol (mainly because my elderly mom was watching it back in New England) and I call her every night & it gave us something extra to talk about). She watches for the entertainment of it all, I kind of watch with a critical eye. Always analyzing everything...sad but true.
Bottom line is I have watched since Season 2 began and saw Season 1 after the fact. The group performance above was & still is the best ever on Idol. Could not believe they let Candice go after this.

I remember watching this for the first time, totally floored by the talent and wondering "but why didn't that girl Candice make it through too?" Never thought at the time she'd win the following year. America got it wrong with Jessica, but got it right with Candice.
probably the judges thought that there are too many great contestants tha season and if they put candice in they will just waste her.. so probably they asked her to audition again this season so that she will be one of the front runners.. go candice!! at last black diva!!! i want to see more of her!!
I am sorry I love Jessica mainly because she is a #beyhive but Candice did better. All jessica did was growl hrr way through the song. Candice sung this song effortlessly and with power and control. Maybe Candice other rounds wasnt as strong strong and thats why shd was cut. She was better than the other girl finalist last year. Oh well she won this year so all ends well.
i think not... jessica deserves to be a finalist last season... the reason candice did not make it that time is that they really need to cut off people from the bunch... and unfortunately candice did not outsang the other people in this group and i think she needed that that time because the talent that season is so crazy

It's a good thing that Candice didn't get in that yet because she wouldn't as much attention that she is now. She would have been shadowed by Jessica. Because during auditions and Hollywood and Vegas it was all about Jessica (who has an amazing voice) so during live shows of course she got all of the attention. If Candice was there no one would notice her amazing voice
She got cut because her appearance was not what they wanted on Idol. Not just her weight, but the clothes she chose, at least in this video, did nothing for her and in fact, i would say they made her look worse. If you notice, her makeup and her clothing is much better this time around. She has the polished look they want, and I do not think she lost any weight to do it.
they picked the fine looking guy cause he is what an American Idol looks like..but from this performance since the begining of time...CANDICE WAS MY AMERICAN IDOL..she is what the
real female, weight and the whole package really looks like!! she is a truely an AMERICAN IDOL.
Judges agreed and believed that Jessica was better than Candice last season because Candice voice is thinner. Candice won because she has no competition this season and the producers had already decided that a girl must win this season. IMO, Jessica >>> Candice
if only she had stayed on last season, she would have kicked Jessica's ass. Honestly, there is NO comparison between the two of them. While Jess is all about her image, Candi Girl's the one with the real soul. God is good and will let justice prevail in the end with Candice's to-be-legendary career.
The problem is that Phillip Phillips would've won regardless. Candice now has a chance to win since the judges fixed it for a girl to win by picking very weak males. Too bad season 12 has the worst ratings since the show started. Jessica's voice was the strongest honestly.
This was the best performance of all the Idols since the beginning. I'd like to see them do this again now that they all have that experience. Candice is now addicting to view just like Jessica was last season. SOMEONE PLEASE REQUEST THIS FOR IDOL TO REDO THIS LIVE ON IDOL!!!!!!!!!!
It happened for a reason! Can you Jessica and Candice where all in the same group? I mean Phillip won! So rather than saying they were dumb I think it was meant to be because she won rather than taking 2nd like Jessica who has more vocal talent that Phillip.
Yuppp Candice won because she didnt have any real to compete with. Jushua, phillip and jessica was on her way last year! This year she was kinda alone -.- Jessica still kick her AZZzz offf!! Jessica young talented girl who can sing anything!
I was surprised Candace didn't make it through last year actually. It was a blessing, she came back the following year and captured the title. Just goes to show that in life there are second chances to pursue your dream.
Amber was also in last years competition and wasn't put through. Glad that they learned some makeup tricks, but their voices were still good. Deandre, well head had great hair, that's all I can say about him.
How Phillip Phillips won this season will always boggle my mind. Our dear Candice did not make the cut but the group productions were the best ever and not nearly this great this year. What gives??
I dunno, Jessica sang very harsh and I couldn't understand her. I think then wasn't Candice's time. Besides, I'm sure Jessica would rather had been cut and return to win #1 rather than stay and be #2
the judges sent two of these three forward, neither of whom won, and the one who went home came back to win it all....amazing the way things work in this crazy world! love me some Candi girl!
The Final last year .... should have been .... Joshua Ledet vs ... Candice Glover ... this crap is why I can't get my Music loving friends to watch this garbage show ... TOO.MUCH.POLITICS on it.
Jessica doesn't have character in her voice, I can't distinguish it apart from the rest. She's good at reaching notes and that's it. Candice is far better! So happy she won this year! Love her! So amazing!
although I would have loved to see Josh Ledet and Candice sing together. I was hoping they would bring him on to sing with her for the finale. But I was plenty happy with the Jennifer Hudson duet. Love!
LOL! I noticed that too. In reality, they did Candice a big favor by not having her compete with P2 and Jessica. Although her voice is superior, shallow voters would not have kept her in the competition.
Uhm I think there's a good thing Candice was out last season. If she was in, big voices like JS and Josh will eat her.
It's her TIME now, and she's PERFECTION. :)
I will NEVER understand why the judges cut her after this. There's just no explanation that would convince me. They should have been sent straight to the Top 12 after this.

Glad Candice proved the judges wrong for sending her home and then winning the next season. I hope Jessica also proves that she deserved to win her season. Both deserved to win AI

OK, I think she got cut bc the singing styles were similar, but Jessica outsang her in this song, but her performance of Ordinary People last night put her in a whole different league.
Meh, I think chromed has a point. Its entirely possible that the show cut some really good r&b people knowing they wanted Jessica to make it far with little competition.
Candice looks so beautiful this season but she looks really bad here. She sounds amazing though! I want a studio version of this song so I can buy it --best song ever!
And she was paired with two teenagers (sixteen and seventeen) who were already impressing everyone with their age. I don't trust AI and will probably never watch it again.
there is always a time for everything. i think sending her home was the best thing they did. she got to become the new American Idol for Season 12.
Deandre's control is bad. How did he make it through? I don't know why everyone wants JLo back. Candice and Jessica should have made the final two last season...

C's natural ability was overshadowed by the competition's looks and stage persona. I agree. And she looked a mess (hair/clothes/makeup). Someone told her.
This was the day I became a fan last year and have been following her since. I didn't understand why they cut her last year either. But this is her season.

I can not stress how much I LOVED this performance the talent is so young, pure and true............. can not stop TRYING to get the notes right.
I would say that that was a good idea. Imagine putting her in the same season with jessica and joshua ledet. It'll be too overcrowded with talent

Candice has been paired with Deandre and Jessica both powerhouse singer. So i think that's the reason why this girl didnt made it last year.

Actually this was her THIRD time trying out for the show. If at first you don't succeed........especialy when you are gifted like she is.
I agree. I still don't think that she should have been sent home so early in the competition, but it worked out in her favor for S12.

Last season's talents (jessica & joshua) were better than any talent this year, thus ai is no longer as exciting as in the past
It was a blessing in disguise Candice wasn't selected to go further in season 11. She would have lost to Phillip.
