There was a flight attendant who said Angelina Jolie was on her international flight in economy and when they offered to upgrade her, she was so humble and apologised to say she hoped she wasn't causing a fuss and would move if it was a problem but she wanted to respect the charity who gave her this economy ticket considering it was a humanitarian project where she was visiting kids in poverty. She was so humble, grateful and she sounds like absolute class. Thanks for sharing. It's about time nice actors are recognised as well as mean ones exposed. Hope she makes a comeback as she is a great actress.

I grew up in Namibia around the time that Angelina filmed Beyond Borders there in 2001. On her off time she would voluntarily visit a community soup kitchen that I was doing volunteer work at on weekends with school friends. She came to serve. We were blown away by seeing Lara Croft herself (Tomb Raider came out earlier that year) coming in and helping out. Nobody invited her or asked to be there. There were no cameras. It wasnt some publicity stunt. She genuinely just walked in to help out because, as she herself said... she believed it was "the right thing to do." After that almost otherworldly experience, I have nothing but respect for her beautiful sense of humanity and humility. They can write all they want about her, she walks the talk and genuinely cares about those in need. She's only human and has her flaws, but she's pure class and grace at the heart.

I remember there was a frenzy at the mall but I never got close enough to see her in the flesh, I've always heard so many amazing things about her and was dying of curiosity. Especially when she commented on (paraphrasing here) the difference in how she was treated in Namibia versus in the States; people asked her for permission to take her photo and respected her boundaries a lot more-- that made me even prouder of being Southern African

She has fame and fortune -- and wants to distance herself as far as possible from him.. so there's nothing he has that she wants.. he has nothing to offer her at this point for her to waste time "using" her kids. Just like any mother trying to PROTECT her kids the best she knows how. @@sakunaru0 ~ She wanted custody of the kids because they were frightened of their dad and didn’t feel safe around him any more. They didn’t want to live with him and I don’t blame them a bit.
Read the counter suit summary about what happened on the airplane coming back from France. Brad was drunk, angry, and physically violent.
He started berating Angelina in front of their kids(“you’re fucking up this family!”), pushed her into the bathroom wall, put his hands around her throat and choked her, punched holes in the bathroom ceiling, struck Maddox when he came to his mom’s defense, and when A tried to pull him off Maddox, he backed up and pushed her hard into the airplane seat, injuring her.
When later she and a couple of the kids were trying to sleep under a blanket, he came over and poured beer and red wine on them. There was $25,000 in damage to the plane.
At the end of the flight she said she was going to take the kids and go to a hotel and get some sleep. He held them hostage for quite a while and wouldn’t let them deplane. “You’re not taking my kids!”
Just a single one of those actions would be grounds for divorce but all of them? And for their kids to have to experience that kind of physical and verbal abuse? It’s so not OK. And it’s not right to blame the victim and say it’s their fault. This is a thing that frequently happens and it’s just wrong.

My dad was also paid extra to have his head shaved to play one of the monks, along with a lot of his Navy buddies, because they were looking for Asians. Dad said Jim Carrey was sooo nice always talking and joking with the extras during breaks for the whole week.
One day, during lunch, dad was near the end of the line with a few others and had run out of food. Jim Carrey found out about it, and he told them to follow him. He led them to the catering section for the actors, and told them to enjoy the food and thanked them for all their hard work. (Dad said the hardest part was sitting on the floor for hours indian style while filming as a monk, which he wasn't used to, legs falling asleep)...lol

And yes, in our professional life we deal with all kinds of people and different moods.

    •  Месяц назад +6

Exactly, which doesn’t give the rude person the right to take it out on someone who has nothing to do with why they feel that way in the first place. At least have the foresight to direct your bad feelings to the person who made you feel that way in the first place. So the undeserving person who has to be the recipient of someone’s bad mood or rude comment just has to take it? All the rude person is doing is continuing the negativity and directing to another undeserving person. Everyone needs to be aware of their comments. If you want your feelings to resonate, then be sure to direct it to the appropriate audience.

Some ppl may say it’s all PR but nobody can keep up charity for years without sincerity and little acknowledgment. The way she also raised all her adopted kids is also amazing. Of course nobody’s a perfect parent but providing financial support and a safe surrounding as well as forming a bond between each kid is also something not every celebrity would do with their time and money. re Anthony Hopkins: Imo if a celebrity is on the spectrum, management/studios need to organize/schedule the press spiel accordingly, so that it won't get overwhelming for the stars and a good experience for the interviewers.

I see what you mean when you describe AJ, she exudes elegance and charm and a certain toughness, mix that with her unbelievable natural beauty, her poise and intelligence, would be a bit overwhelming…intimidating. Love her in her action movies, I could ( and have) watched them over and over.
I remember when she did a movie with Johnny depp and they were both praising eachother - it was sweet, but also I loved his compliments of her, also he’s gorgeous/talented/intelligent himself and yet so humble.

I love that Angelina is a role model who uses her celebrity status to do good in the world and to raise awareness of what is going on and focuses on what is REALLY important. She doesn't purely rely on her good looks. A lot of celebrities could and should learn from her. They shouldn't sell soap or shampoo - we have enough of that already!

Hopkins is a bit of a legend in my city. He filmed here, many years ago, and loved it because of how much he could move around without getting recognized. I’ve waited on him several times and he was always very lovely. I never acknowledged that I knew who he was though, as that was my personal rule of conduct working at one of the city’s most high-end restaurants. I just treated the celebrities that came in as any other customer. My co-worker, however, did not and as soon as he made a big fuss, you could see the energy shift as Hopkins became uncomfortable. He was never anything approaching rude, just aloof and maybe a bit self conscious. It’s a smaller city and restaurant culture is unique (iykyk) so we tried to insulate him from feeling awkward by making sure people didn’t approach him for autographs and the like. Not a single person had a negative experience to report. The entire city, at least the waitstaff and bartenders, had fun anecdotes and adored him by the time the film wrapped. There’s no way of knowing for sure but I think if we didn’t spread the word early in the project, he might not have felt as comfortable going out.
My ex was either the key grip or best boy on that project, which is how I know about the comments he made expressing how special our city was… he was good to the crew too.
I spent 13 years with an IATSE film production crew member and have a lot of horror stories I could spill about certain celebrities, but I will take those to the grave because they aren’t mine to tell. The ones that were super positive, which are few and far between, I’m not as cautious with. Of the 10 or so that my ex and I both had firsthand experiences with, only 2 were positive for both of us- Anthony Hopkins is one of them. ❤

We on the spectrum have different tolerance levels compared to the ones NOT on the spectrum. And depending on the severity OF your disabilities/disability anything can be a trigger if you're not careful. It doesn't even have to be the person doing the interview, it can be the texture of the fabric on the chair, a scent or smell in the room, the lights and so on. Many things can cause it or trigger it, or make it worse. And the worst part is that the severity of our experience is often downplayed or dimissed as being "fussy" or "cranky", maybe even labled as "diva behaviour" depending on the person and situation.
Thank your for not dismissing his situation and experience Kjersti. Understanding is what we want from others.

I never really knew or cared about Angelina Jolie until I finally saw a movie with her, Maleficent, & I instantly fell in love with her. I think it might be the fact that she’s so sweet & sincere that it really comes out in her emotional performances & makes you really care for her🤷‍♀️ probably is a tendency with the really nice actors like Nicole Kidman, their true character probably just naturally shines through & although they may be acting, they let their own sincere emotions & experiences influence the performance

I had a magical experience contacting Madonna once. It was 1991 and I was studying in Paris. She was scheduled to perform in a concert (Blond Ambition Tour). This was at the time of the Madonna craze. They didn’t call her the queen of pop for nothing. Everyone wanted to interview her or have a piece of her or get inspired by her. There was no competition, not at her level and not in that category of “performer” who constantly reinvented herself and her look and her music. It was during that tour that she filmed the Documentary Truth or Dare. In otherwords, her schedule was completely full. I wanted to contact her or meet her somehow, but something inside me told me to not bother her . Something told me to just send her a bouquet of roses to the hotel where she was staying. I assumed she was staying at the Hotel Crillon like she did during her previous tour … so I had the Florist deliver a 300 Franc Bouquet of mixed baby roses (a standout bouquet for a large vase). Along with the bouquet I sent an envelope with my return address and a stamp and a letter to Madonna expressing my love and telling her that I choose to send her flowers instead of bothering her in the street like some fans do. Instead of trying to intercept her on her morning jogging routine. I asked her to autograph a drawing I made of her , and to send it back to me in that same envelope.
Later that day, I called the Hotel
Crillon to check if they had received my Bouquet . They transferred me to the Concierge who informed me that Madonna is not staying there … but at the Ritz (just around the corner). He told me “Don’t worry, we already forwarded the Bouquet to the Ritz” !
I went to the concert that night . A spectacular event!
And 3 days later I received my envelope with the drawing and Madonna’s autograph!
How thoughtful and sweet of her! How did she find the time in that hectic schedule of hers and the many bouquets she received? To read my letter to the end and do as I asked her with the envelope? It was a small gesture which had a massive effect on me at the time. And it taught me a life lesson to respect celebrities’ privacy if I encounter them in person I might just smile but nothing more.

I understand what it’s like to be treated horribly, bullied by friends, co-workers and even bosses, and I wouldn’t wish that feeling on anyone. We have a tradesperson who we have used for years, I got on with him well, but he was recently diagnosed on the spectrum and has now become really unpleasant. He blames Autism for anything and everything, very judgemental and impatient, walked away from his marriage - like a totally different person. My son was diagnosed about 11 years old, it was a relief to him and to us to understand the reasons his behaviour deviated for expectations and he was very responsive to working on any social interaction weaknesses as it made it easier for him and others. It seems to really depend on the person, their challenges; perhaps when they are diagnosed and their own reaction to that news. You would however think an actor of that much talent would understand to be professional or to at least fake it.
