I have a three bedroom house, the whole house is been redecorated, all the woodwork gloss needs to be keyed up, skirting, door casing, doors, I'm using 120 gritt by hand, at the moment, feels like hard work, going to use scuff x satin brushed on as the finishing coat , but is there a better or quicker method, maybe using a detail sander or a sheet sander, or is that going to over key it?
Mate do u sell the three inch perfection bristle brush worn in or trimmed down for oil topcoat? It would take me a lifetime to wear down a Hamilton perfection pure bristle 3 inch brush lol
Hi there, what 3inch brush brand are you using, synthetic or natural, cracking video, I used to use Hamilton all the way, but I find natural bristle perfection just drop bristles all the time now, especially when in stored brush mate, I've tried the proform piccaso hard-line, cracking in anything water based but shite in oil and tips when stored in vapour box curl after a while
i thought i was ok at painting until i watched this. it would take me 4 times as long to do trim. the best take away from this for me is a decent 3 inch brush for coating frames / rolling doors with a 9 inch roller / and second coating satin ( i have been using a shellac primer and one good coat of gloss but it never looks as good as this does.
See I do it differently. When it comes to frames, architraves and skirts, I give everything a first coat of paint so I can see all the defects easier, then I fill all the holes, cracks divots etc, then sand, then apply more coats untill ready for gloss......THEN I tube up literally before the gloss coat. I don’t understand people who caulk up first. But that’s just my way of working
Thats becouse you are proper painter as myself. That guy works very fast but the quality of his job is horrible. When you are proper painter you know how to do painting properly.

Pure bristle brushes are for oil only purely because their bristles are hollow and water based paints go harder nearer the stock quicker. Should always use them on oil paints. Obviously synthetics can be used on anything
Try the water based white tikurllia satin for quicker finish than oil satin, and quicker and far less draggy than the standard paint quick dry satins. It's thin but high solids,, lf your able to choose n supply paint anyway. I think you would score roughly a dayon a project like this. , It's unreal how fast it slides on. I have just one question, I notice there is no color in any of the videos you make. Is it only primer you are using, or are they all white walls? Because ceilings remain white and walls get a different color where I'm from.
Hi Mark I've turned 40 this year and for the last 17yrs I've been a domestic decorater. I'm taking the plunge into house bashing. Feel like I'm asking a really stupid question. But here goes,3 inch brush on the woodwork? Really, also is it the same brand you use for emulsion. Or do you use one with a thinner stock? Forgive me for asking, just obviously I've only ever used 2 inch on woodwork. You know whilst painting for Mrs Jones 😉. Any tips or advice would be appreciated 👍
I use a 3 inch brush in emulsion when it wears down a bit use it in undercoat and gloss, 2 inch brush is mainly too small for house bashing it takes a lot longer with a 2 inch use a 3 inch brush you soon get used to it.
