Not Just Another Painter say, you're starting with the primer and that, it's a similar sort of way, vanished, handles off, newspaper done etc. When you've primed it, go over it with 180 paper to get rid of roughness from the wood. I'm going to talk about undercoating. I'm going to presume the type of door shown in the video. paint the top and side edge of the door with a 1 inch natural bristle brush or 3/4 inch natural bristle brush, I prefer a 1 inch brush, once you've done that start painting the panels and grooves, start where it meets the stiles, I like to start painting from the door handle side, and work towards the hinge side, first paint one groove all the way down one side and then paint one panel into the next groove. remember as you paint the groove make sure not to get paint on the next panel yet as when you come to paint it and it has paint on it, it will become tacky and ruin the overall look of the door, with with a turps rag or wipes. Once you've painted the groove paint the next panel and then paint the groove, again make sure not to get paint on the panel. Keep repeating until you meet the stile on the hinge end. Now you've got to paint the top rail, bottom rail and stiles. First paint the top rail, I like using 1/2 natural bristle brush although you can use a 1 inch. Paint the top rail length ways where it meet the edge of the style as it will cause problems with the stiles, think of it as a rectangle. Remember to lay off as you with have heavy brush marks and ruin the look, next do the bottom rail and repeat. Then paint the stiles, from top to bottom laying off. That's how I paint that door, might sound complicated and might take too long but if you do it long enough, you will get faster. Also nib off again with 180 and apply the gloss the same way. Can't forget dusting down between coats after nibbling. If you're on a plot use and dusting brush and dust pan or carefully brush the floor with a broom. Hope I helped mate. I don't use a roller, interesting way. But if done too heavy it will cause orange peel.
