Hey folks! Newgrounds released this awesome program called "Swivel" that converts your flash movies in to a video format perfectly, even upscaling them. So I decided to take my old Sonic Nazo Unleashed trilogy, combine in to one in 1080p HD, especially now that RUclips allows for movies longer than 15 minutes 6 years later. Now I look back and the drawings, backgrounds, and animation come off as very crude, but because I made this when I was in high school, I am still proud of it. Not only was the video upscaled, but I added many special effects and screen direction fixes.
I have also included optional annotation notes about characters, moves, and trivia throughout the movie.

I remember when I first stumbled across this as a kid, I thought it was an actual licensed Sonic movie, and being a massive DBZ nut it absolutely blew my mind. Shared it with all my friends and it was all we talked about for weeks. Good times.

Can’t believe that it’s been 13 years since that first episode came out, and despite all that time, SEGA or Toei or anyone hasn’t tried to take it down. It’s kinda amazing. Thank you SEGA for letting this classic survive.

Some people call this trash, and while I will say it’s a little cheesy looking back at it, this will never cease to get me to smile or to get me kind of pumped up. It’s still awesome to this day

This is one of the greatest and most inspirational pieces of Sonic Fanfiction that was ever made. If someone dislikes it. It's because they just don't like Sonic in general. It is Z inspired yes. But the tone is based around Sonic's.
This video is a masterpiece.
You'd think after being older you'd see the flaws and think this aged poorly, but ironically now that i have a better understanding of what goes into animation and the creative ways ChakraX used sounds and voice lines to make this, i truly appreciate this more than my 9 year old self did. Great work man. I lost count of how many times i've watched this.

I was 6 years old and i had just recently discovered RUclips and had gotten hooked on sonic animations, then when i eventually came across this my jaw dropped to the floor. So are we not gonna mention how Nazo's backstory, motivation, and personality all not only line up with what we know of the Sonic canon but in and of themselves actually make a lot of sense? This man was a teen when he made this and he's writing better than the people at SEGA.
Its great... but for one the stories they make are supposed to be u know restricted for children.. there’s a reason dbz was on adult swim. The choas emerald aspect came straight from GT. Just that how are they supposed to even import such greatness such as this with game mechanics.. like think about all the games. They cant recreate in a game need xenoverse or ssbb or sum sht lol.

But a villain that was created throughout the generational use of the emeralds makes sense. More appealing.. inna nutshell he is the consequence of sonic and eggmans’ fighting. It gives the levels more of meaning. Better than just finding sum creature as u wonder off space...

I love the way Tails grabbed Knuckles’ wrist so he could throw him into Nazo’s path! It just shows how much they trust each other! Nazo almost reminds me of Frieza and I love how you used the songs from the games to make it actually feel like Sonic and his friends.

The sonic 3 movie had a heavily inspired fight scene that is VERY reminiscent of the hyper shadic vs nazo fight. So HYPE!!

maybe this hasn't aged the best in terms of animation and quality, but even now this is fantastic!
The choreography is great, the dialogue is incredibly good despite (and especially) almost all lines being from previous sonic games, and in general it was incredibly entertaining and intense.
Clearly a lot of passion went into this.
Listen, for what it’s worth (in the animation department) it was done by a single guy when he was young (maybe even a teenager I think) in 2005 if I remember the original video’s release date. And he redid it much later in like 2012 without changing “the essence” of things, but still did it *all* (except voice acting) on his own.
Chakra X is the animator who’s come closest to Scott Cawthon (the guy who made FNAF) and Toby Fox (the guy who made Undertale), but specifically in the fan animation sphere. Chakra X is probably the number one in the field. So... I’d say it aged very well, despite everything. And honestly, I’d personally say I like it even more than I originally did. And I say that after *every* rewatch.

Man after seeing this near 10-15 years later it's much better than I initially thought. The music is on point, the lines are quirky and fitting, and although it's pretty DBZ centric with it's plot, what's there is amazing. Even though it's somewhat dated I found myself not cringing but fully immersed and the animation is impressive considering what it was running on. Imo I think this is what the main series needs, crazy DBZ like action set pieces with a character that's both evil and fun, along with a connection to parts of the lore of stuff like the Chaos Emeralds to give it that extra layer

I still this is the most Epic Sonic Story ever told to me.
It combines Classic elements and updates them to the Modern era that we love or hate. It creates a Villain who was a scrapped Sonic-X design and gave him a cool story where he was created by negative energy from the Chaos Emeralds is brilliant!
I just got back from watching Sonic 2 in theaters and I am happy with how Sonic is finally being told into other forms of media that not just the games.
Sonic 2 was a 10/10, but Nazo Unleashed to me is an 11/10

I still can't express how much i loved and still love this animation,the choice of songs,the story, i was a kid and ten years later the ending with his world makes me want to cry. The voice clips are reused, yes, but they're reused surprisingly well.
Nazo's voice lines really round out the piece, making it stand out on its own. The animation is great.
Tails and Knuckles are acknowledged as more than setpieces and actually get to do something! Not particularly much, but something nonetheless.
It's heavily dbz-influenced, and is more flash than substance, but the substance it does have is pretty great.
Even though Nazo is taken from a mystery cameo that eventually got scrapped, the concept here is interesting.
The music use is great.
Shadow is in character. People tend to make him too friendly or too tsundere.
The drawings aren't stellar, but it takes a lot of work to make an animation, and it's excellent for what it is.
And oh boy am I still a sucker for fusions.

The animation is rough yet still worked, they pieced it all together when it came to dialogue and didn’t run on. And this was the one thing I always wanted to see in a sonic game: for sonic or shadow to be put in a bad position that they’re not entirely used to but came around the end and grow stronger for the sake of his friends and how far he is willing to go for them. Its stuff like this that shows how strong sonic can really be or what kind of power the chaos emeralds truly convey. And Nezo is actually a character I would look forward to see again, all this I wanna see in a sonic game

Dude! I was in 3rd/4th grade when I came across this. This came into my recommendations out of nowhere, but I'm so glad it did. This was and still is one of my favorite inspirations to get into the Sonic fandom and drawing in general. Man, 2010-2013 were the best years of my life. I miss the old times, man.
