This is one of the greatest and most inspirational pieces of Sonic Fanfiction that was ever made. If someone dislikes it. It's because they just don't like Sonic in general. It is Z inspired yes. But the tone is based around Sonic's.

So are we not gonna mention how Nazo's backstory, motivation, and personality all not only line up with what we know of the Sonic canon but in and of themselves actually make a lot of sense? This man was a teen when he made this and he's writing better than the people at SEGA.

Looked this thing back up after all these years. I just graduated with a degree in animation. This was one of my inspirations back then to keep pushing forward.
I thought that now, after several years, that I'm no longer an impressionable child, I would find this horrendously cringy. I don't. The voice clips are reused, yes, but they're reused surprisingly well. Nazo's voice lines really round out the piece, making it stand out on its own. The animation is great. Tails and Knuckles are acknowledged as more than setpieces and actually get to do something! Not particularly much, but something nonetheless. It's heavily dbz-influenced, and is more flash than substance, but the substance it does have is pretty great. Even though Nazo is taken from a mystery cameo that eventually got scrapped, the concept here is interesting. The music use is great. Shadow is in character. People tend to make him too friendly or too tsundere. The drawings aren't stellar, but it takes a lot of work to make an animation, and it's excellent for what it is. And oh boy am I still a sucker for fusions.
The animation is rough yet still worked, they pieced it all together when it came to dialogue and didn’t run on. And this was the one thing I always wanted to see in a sonic game: for sonic or shadow to be put in a bad position that they’re not entirely used to but came around the end and grow stronger for the sake of his friends and how far he is willing to go for them. Its stuff like this that shows how strong sonic can really be or what kind of power the chaos emeralds truly convey. And Nezo is actually a character I would look forward to see again, all this I wanna see in a sonic game

I'm gonna be real. Even if the Animation is extremely dated... I still this is the most Epic Sonic Story ever told to me. It combines Classic elements and updates them to the Modern era that we love or hate. It creates a Villain who was a scrapped Sonic-X design and gave him a cool story where he was created by negative energy from the Chaos Emeralds is brilliant! I just got back from watching Sonic 2 in theaters and I am happy with how Sonic is finally being told into other forms of media that not just the games. Sonic 2 was a 10/10, but Nazo Unleashed to me is an 11/10

maybe this hasn't aged the best in terms of animation and quality, but even now this is fantastic! The choreography is great, the dialogue is incredibly good despite (and especially) almost all lines being from previous sonic games, and in general it was incredibly entertaining and intense. Clearly a lot of passion went into this.
Listen, for what it’s worth (in the animation department) it was done by a single guy when he was young (maybe even a teenager I think) in 2005 if I remember the original video’s release date. And he redid it much later in like 2012 without changing “the essence” of things, but still did it *all* (except voice acting) on his own. Chakra X is the animator who’s come closest to Scott Cawthon (the guy who made FNAF) and Toby Fox (the guy who made Undertale), but specifically in the fan animation sphere. Chakra X is probably the number one in the field. So... I’d say it aged very well, despite everything. And honestly, I’d personally say I like it even more than I originally did. And I say that after *every* rewatch.

I will try to put down the facts in timestamps that Chakra-X had putted on the video... 0:56 Nazo's design was originally going to be a super sonic design for the Sonic X anime pilot episode.. And chakra-x actually had to ask permission from Sega to use this design 4:18 The move that knuckles is using is Red Heat Attack, Which is his upgrade ability from Sonic Adventure... 6:15 Yes shadow had wielded guns before in his own spin off game shadow the hedgehog... 7:18 This is sonic's other transformation that has appeared in sonic x which is called Dark Sonic, in this form it said he's is more powerful than super sonic.. 9:10 The technique that sonic uses is called "Sonic wind" in which it appeared in sonic adventure 2 during dark story's final boss.. 11:20 this is a technique that shadow uses during the final fight in hero's story it is called "Chaos Spear".. 12:15 What shadow is using right here is a move from sonic chronicles, it is called "Chaos Arrow" in which he shoots a barrage of chaos energy blast with a final shot to cause more damage.. 13:09 this is a upgrade that sonic used during sonic adventure 1 and 2 that sonic and shadow could use attack enemy's at Light speed.. 17:58 This is "Perfect" Nazo. Which was based on DBZ Perfect cell. 18:54 This technique is a Super Chaos control, it is suppose to be stronger than a regular chaos control, in which is why Super Shadow is moving at a snails pace.. 19:13 This form of shadow is called "Dark shadow" from the shadow the hedgehog game.. It activates as shadow maximizes his dark or evil gauge and he will cause a Chaos Blast in this form... (But this was a awesome scene) 21:31 This was a form that was only used in Sonic the hedgehog 3 which was called Hyper Sonic in which he had 3x the speed of super sonic.. But was only available if the player got the super emeralds.. 22:11 this is Shadic in his Hyper form( A combination of Shadow and Sonic together) which was inspired by Vegito from DBZ... 25:01: This... Was really thought out and a good detail... During the fight as Hyper Shadic, Chakra-x had said that because Shadic was in his Hyper form, Shadic was burning up 50 to 100 rings per second so in reality he must've burned about 10,250 rings for those 2 minutes.. And in the new updated annotation he changed it to 3 rings per second.. Which counted to 120 rings in those 2 minutes... 25:31 This transformation is "Dark Perfect Nazo" which is suppose to be stronger because he absorbed the negative energy from the emeralds.. 27:43 what Shadic is using is a ring magnet technique, in which during this whole moment, he is absorbing Billions of rings from around the world... 28:07 What the characters are carrying are Super rings, they are suppose to carry hundred or two hundred rings.. 28:40 this is Super Knuckles and Super Tails in this moment.. They first appeared in sonic the hedgehog 2 and 3... 29:29 in a second, you'll see regular Shadic appear in this moment... Mostly because he is almost low on rings.. 30:03 in this final epic scene, you see Hyper Shadic go Full power Hyper Shadic, in which his power is probably 10 or 15x of that perfect Nazo... 32:10 Sadly this is not a teaser to a sequal, but to show that eggman will either use this to create something powerful (Obivious).. And these are the facts and trivia that Chakra-X had putted in this video, This. Entire. Animation. Was awesome.. The voice actors where spot on with the english dub actors.. And the story is great.. I thought that now, after several years, that I'm no longer an impressionable child, I would find this horrendously cringy.

The voice clips are reused, yes, but they're reused surprisingly well.
Nazo's voice lines really round out the piece, making it stand out on its own. The animation is great.
Tails and Knuckles are acknowledged as more than setpieces and actually get to do something! Not particularly much, but something nonetheless.
It's heavily dbz-influenced, and is more flash than substance, but the substance it does have is pretty great.
Even though Nazo is taken from a mystery cameo that eventually got scrapped, the concept here is interesting.
The music use is great.
Shadow is in character. People tend to make him too friendly or too tsundere.
The drawings aren't stellar, but it takes a lot of work to make an animation, and it's excellent for what it is.
And oh boy am I still a sucker for fusions.

The animation is rough yet still worked, they pieced it all together when it came to dialogue and didn’t run on. And this was the one thing I always wanted to see in a sonic game: for sonic or shadow to be put in a bad position that they’re not entirely used to but came around the end and grow stronger for the sake of his friends and how far he is willing to go for them. Its stuff like this that shows how strong sonic can really be or what kind of power the chaos emeralds truly convey. And Nezo is actually a character I would look forward to see again, all this I wanna see in a sonic game

It combines Classic elements and updates them to the Modern era that we love or hate. It creates a Villain who was a scrapped Sonic-X design and gave him a cool story where he was created by negative energy from the Chaos Emeralds is brilliant!
I just got back from watching Sonic 2 in theaters and I am happy with how Sonic is finally being told into other forms of media that not just the games.

maybe this hasn't aged the best in terms of animation and quality, but even now this is fantastic!
The choreography is great, the dialogue is incredibly good despite (and especially) almost all lines being from previous sonic games, and in general it was incredibly entertaining and intense.
Clearly a lot of passion went into this.
Listen, for what it’s worth (in the animation department) it was done by a single guy when he was young (maybe even a teenager I think) in 2005 if I remember the original video’s release date. And he redid it much later in like 2012 without changing “the essence” of things, but still did it *all* (except voice acting) on his own.
Chakra X is the animator who’s come closest to Scott Cawthon (the guy who made FNAF) and Toby Fox (the guy who made Undertale), but specifically in the fan animation sphere. Chakra X is probably the number one in the field. So... I’d say it aged very well, despite everything. And honestly, I’d personally say I like it even more than I originally did. And I say that after *every* rewatch.
