Great video man, came here because im about to start a 458 socom build from a lower ive got laying around really looking foreward to seeing more as you progress with the gun
The German's had it right with that style brake on their Panzer's... there's a reason their tanks were so accurate with such a intense round. Great Vid. Keep it up brother.
I would recommend a HS515GM red dot from holosun, for the 458 Socom. So far it is the only optic that the gun hasn't broken including a nice weaver scope, several cheap red dots, 2 lasers, a bump stock, and a a magpul adj stock. I don't really recommend shooting it in the prone position either....lol
If you smack the bottom of the magazine on any AR platform you run a higher risk of getting a feed malfunction. Just insert, click, give a tug. No need to smack it like a misbehaving red headed stepchild 😎
If you plan to alter the magazine I would suggest the metal mags are they are slightly cheaper and more plentiful. I am not a fun of the polymer due to the polymer feed lips. No data but they just seem flimsy to hold the larger case pressing on both sides simultaneously. Others here might have more ideas as well.
I can't remember what ammo I was using that day, this summer I am going to start over with the 458 upper, by that I mean go through it again and try everything out.
@@michaelkaylor6770 my upper is a radical arms .458 socom and its garbage. I bought magazines different types of ammo. I'm thinking of buying a rock river upper or tromix.

Todd Pierson thanks for the info dude, I did find that last time I shot it, the “quick-release” had quick-loosened, yeah, that was a waste $7.50!
Were you using standard AR-15 mags without any modifications?
Yes, since I have gotten a magazine with the lips cut for the big bore stuff.
@@michaelkaylor6770 I noticed my brace gets dings in it
@@spectorjoy4851 I need to get my 458 back out of the safe and figure out the permanent solution!
@@michaelkaylor6770 brass sorry
Did you ever figure out why the casing was getting chewed up on the neck? If so what was the fix?

Which 5.56 magazines would be best to used with this rifle. Are the polymer mags worth using in it? Or are metal ones better? Thanks

A Little more Trigger Time, I'm sure you noticed the Gittery Motion reaching each for your side arm, NO AMMO AT HOME PRACTICE
What ammo were you using I have a socom radical upper that has issues

What cycling issues have you had
I had feeding issues when hand cycling from a standard NATO STANAG. Since I got a mag that had been relieved I have had no issues!
why do people insist on smacking mags, load from a open bolt and it will snap right in
Overall. How do you like it?
So far it is functioning as expected, though I do not have more than 100 rounds through it yet.
@@michaelkaylor6770 ok. Im still debating on getting either the 458 socom or 50 beowulf upper. However, ammo out here is like finding a damn t-rex.

Just because you can’t...
You clearly have no experience or just blow with a weapon bud.
