    - I'm not sure why comments about galvanic corrosion are being deleted. I have no incentive to do it myself, as Deepcool doesn't pay a dime for these reviews. A copper base and aluminum fin array are completely fine for a setup like this. In fact, *most* AIOs use this config. A few of you are blowing this out of proportion. The coolant inside resists corrosion (although every metal technically "corrodes" with time).
    ADD: Copper cored rads w/ aluminum fins + aluminum blocks w/ attached copper bases are also very common. Most manufacturers won't get this specific, but I'll ask around and see what Corsair, DC, and a few others tell me.

    • @McMrMinecraft
      @McMrMinecraft 7 лет назад

      So then, what does cause the corrosion to speed up? Is it mixing block materials (e.g. copper CPU block + Aluminum GPU block in the same loop?) Or is it something else?

      Are we sure RGB does not trigger seizures with some people? :S

      Nowadays even one of the most expensive AIO on the market, NZXT Karken have the same config like the captain... From my knowledge as long as the aluminum does not contact with the cooper directly the AIO is going to last long enough for its designed lifetime.(3~5 years)

      A lot of people don't realize that galvanic corrosion takes longer than they think, it does pose a problem after about 2 or 3 years, but also not even as bad as they think.

      I know you probably meant this as a joke, but technically people have done "black lighting" before. UV lighting used to be really popular, especially with custom water cooling loops and the UV fluid that you could buy. When done right it looks sweet IMO.

    Been looking for some nice AIO's for my future build. Hoping we can have more well working and aesthetic pleasing ones. Can't stop drooling over the X62 Kraken liquid cooler, but I don't want to jump into liquid cooling just yet lol.

    • @derprism4908
      @derprism4908 7 лет назад +3

      I splurged for a x62 and it is worth it. And most concerns about liquid damage is usually not an issue due to good 6 year warranties. NZXT will usually replace the AIO along with any damaged parts assuming the leak is due to manufacture error and not because you dropped it etc.

    Great review and info on Deepcool Greg... 100% agree that they are a very underrated tech company. Price to performance is GREAT. Loved my Deepcool Dukase v2 case (which in my humble opinion is still one of the best cases ever made for $50ish) and my 240EX white AIO. I just ordered the 360mm RGB white AIO for my new build so I hope it keeps the current trend. Keep up the great reviews.

    I like Deepcool, I have their Captain 120EX. Next time I get an AIO this specific one will be number one. All they need to do for their RGB stuff is to develop a software to bypass using the remote so you don't have to open your case to change the colors of the AIO and RGB strip.

    I had this cooler in red, and it leaked and ruined my 1070, or so I thought. I got a refund of $600 within a week, as they have great (very foreign) customer service. I bought another 1070, and a nzxt kraken. I figured I might as well switch to my other (that I thought was ruined) and it worked. I took it apart and cleaned it up and now I have 2x gtx 1070 and i5 6600k build. Thanks DeepCool!

    Hey Greg, thanks for the recommendation of this cooler. I've generally stuck with Corsair for AIO's, but based on your recommendation and price during Black Friday, I took a chance on this one. And even though I haven't had it long, I've noticed fantastic cooling of my i7-7700k. When playing Star Wars Battlefront at highest settings (1080p), the CPU didn't go above 51 degrees Celsius with barely any fan noise! I'm comparison, my i7-4790k with a Lepa Aquachanger 240 would easily get close to 80 degrees playing pretty much any game and the fans were insanely loud. So from one tech to another, thanks again!

    Galvanic corrosion is not a problem since most aios use glycol or a mix based on it fluid rather than water. Otherwise, evaporation would be a problem way before corrosion was.

Nice and quiet under normal loads, nice airflow on the fans, and the design adds a little flair to the whole build (Had a red glow theme going from before, so it fits really well.)
    If it stands up to the daily, often 24/7 usage my machine has, is left to be seen. So far, no problems.

It's not exactly a common colour scheme, so without rgb I would be really limited in what I could buy to match my system. Everything with standard led lighting is mostly red or blue. Plus, I can change my colour scheme really easily if I ever want to.

    Deepcool has always included fan hubs with any multi fan heatsink or AIO. That was always awesome, however the rest of it wasn't so great, I was a early gen adopter of the first captain 240 and 360 and they had major QC issues, the performance was rather poor and the AIOs would come out of the factory with different colored liquids or worse, muted red which was icky. The fans were rather meh, given their noise. Although you could detach the blades from the fan to clean them, best feature ever. I hate cleaning blades because they would sometimes cut me if they were high quality (The only two fans to do this to me are all sorts of deltas and a coolermaster silencio 120)
    And if you are wondering they are not extending AM4 support to them either...

    I don't agree that aluminium fins are better than copper.
    I'm not going into details, but I have nice example for you - imagine that radiator fins are like thermal paste between cpu and cooler, so better thermal conduction = better cooling, which copper has...

    • @Arek_R.
      @Arek_R. 7 лет назад

      Ofc I'm not saying that replacing aluminium radiator with copper rad will change much, not really, maybe like 5*C

    • @therealr0bert
      @therealr0bert 7 лет назад

      I really don't get this. I hear it all the time in the PC community. In cars copper radiators are downright inferior, often unusable for applications with high performance engines. Yet there's a consensus in the PC community that for computers copper is the way to go. Any idea why that is? Obviously there's a big difference in the applications, but to some degree energy is energy and thermal properties are thermal properties.

    I think deepcool is appreciated adequately. They are cheap and provide decent performance, meaning they are not the best, and there are certain annoying flaws to almost every product they make.

    They should make the 360 rad RGB aswell.

    i definitely agree with you on the deepcool being underrated and 1 thing to ask, can you change the fan to another 1, more silent?

    i think Deepcool is underrated because their products are really cheap compared with more reputable brands like corsair or cooler master.For many people if a product is cheaper it means it is worse and if it more expensive it is better.Anyway, Corsair or Cooler Master has more reputable history than Deepcool other brands but i think,in time,they will earn their respect if they continue to make good quality products.That is my opinion.Btw nice ring :D

    Which one is quieter (while browsing the web and watching films and youtube), Captain 240EX or Kraken x62? I have an i7 6700k with the Evo212x and I'm looking forward to an upgrade in silence (at least in idle and basic tasks), and also to improve the appearance of my PC (I recently change my old case for a Phantek P400S Tempered Glass). Thank you for your comments

    i like the look of that cooler but that hard tube that goes in the block makes me so nervous. i read a lot of horror stories about it leaking and destroying people's gpu underneath.

    A purely cosmetic question: is the RGB effect shown on the packaging (different colours at the same time) actually possible?

    will pass but it looks ok i guess I have the Corsair H115i which is kinda plain but I am planning on custom water cooling anyway when I have the money I plan to do my first custom water cooled build some point next year and am waiting for corsair to release their custom water cooling gear already as I want unified lighting and if i know anything they will copy thermaltake and RGB fittings they will then officially have more RGB than thermaltake (PSU does not count as all thermaltake did was put an RGB fan inside a PSU) and I want to see where the Zeus concept mouse goes as well as newer cases from Corsair they make more ranges of products than any other manufacturer I know (peripherals, cooling, RAM and storage as well as cases and lighting products thermaltake comes close but they do not do storage/RAM)

    They need to return to micro center and see what the recent shortage of PC parts have done with the prices
