I have one and it works great and it seems to increase airflow.
Just bought this filter, it’s going great so far. Really liked it!

You need to get some 1/4 inch wire mesh. I buy it at TSC store. It needs to go in engine compartment as well. Take the wipers and cowl cover off and put the mesh to stop mice from getting in as well.
