    Kipkay. I am currently 16 years old and I started watching you when I was 11. I was always inspired by your projects, but my age restricted me from making most of them, though I've made a few. This video really brings back the memories from years ago. These are the types of projects we all started watching you for. Please bring back more like this!! Keep up the amazing work, good job.

    Hey Kip, really like your videos. I make lights like this. I use waterproof lights and skip the clear pvc and the weights. They work great. The lights draw phytoplankton which draws small fish which draw larger fish.

    I had a hard time finding 1 1/2 clear PVC pipe so I used a protective cover used on fluorescent tube lights. I used bolts from my scrounge box in the garage to weigh it down. If you use the entire roll of LED's it will make an assembly 20 inches long. On the end of the wire, instead of using a wall wart I used a cigarette lighter plug for power. By the way, I made 2 of them, can't wait to fish with them! Thanks for the idea! The whole assembly cost about $30.00 to build both!

    Now that you mention it, I could build a cool light system with the led lights but make the tubes look more steampunk. I'd also like to make a mad scientist style light switch to turn it on or off. Other steampunk projects, too.

    I like that light for darn near anything. I see getting a multicolored light strip with strobe effects and making 2 or three for tree decorations in the yard for garden parties and night time gatherings. Not to mention cool mood lighting for seasonal occasions like Christmas, New Year and July 4th. What a simple and really nice build.

    Cool video but if you want to avoid purple primer pick your self up some oatey gold when glue a connection hold them together tight for about 60 seconds. This works I put up solar pool heating systems at one time. Pool water is pumped up to black plastic panels and then returns to the pool we always changed the pumps to a pump that could handle the head height and the connections were under a decent amount of pressure.This save you a little money and time in the end.

    • @shawnkerr291
      @shawnkerr291 8 лет назад +1

      Randy Neal LEDs are dc. He's using a converter to go from 120vac to 12vdc, if you want to use it on a boat just run the wires to a switched and fused battery source.

    1) I would use a cable or rope of some kind to carry the weight of the light along side of the small gauge wire. 2) I would also water proof the power cord on the inside of the cap as well . I would not use silicone to do this I would use a marine or plumbing type 2 - part epoxy dough, like $6 at Lowes or HD. 3) On the LED wrap at the end I would go around it with electricians tape in combination with the glue.

    Two minor differences I would have done: 1) I'd have sprung for the programmable LED light strip so that you could get it to change color. Of course, I'd be using this more for decoration than for attracting fish, so the different use would drive that change. 2) I'd have made sure to use the silicon on the inside of the cap as well before securing it to the tube. Might be overkill, but I figure if you're going to try to make something water tight, might as well take all the steps to lock it down for sure.
