I Fixed Everything Wrong With My 1968 Dodge Charger In Three Easy Steps (Kind Of)

- It's all engine swaps, failures, crusty old junk, and quagmire projects around the Dead Dodge Garage. So today, I decided that maybe for once I could take a break from all that and do something quick and easy. My Charger has been sitting for most of the winter, gathering dust and looking a bit sad and neglected. So I bought it a present - some nice, classic style wheels and tires. Naturally, installing them still took hours. But if you ask me, it was all worth it. I could stare at this thing all day. It's so much better.

The Cragar SS is hard to beat. Good choice.
Always hard to beat . On ANYTHING
Why does Mortsky hate them? I’ve never understood that
Aar torque thrust?*at as for American races
The SS and the SS/T rims are absolute classics!
The tires and hubcaps from Bullit. Steve McQueen getting chased.
That car fired up, and immediately Primus popped into my head. What a wonderful sound of both ideals.
🎶Jamie was a racecar driver...🎶
Pork Soda that brings back memories. 👍
Those Mickey Thompson are practically brand new, at least they're from this century. I replaced 30 year old tires on a 77 firebird last week.
😮
At least you got the important thing done to the Charger.
Your enthusiasm and passion for these things is so infectious. Love your channel man
There are so many things to do so I gave up and now I watch you.
If you’re on the forums, one thing nearly everybody agrees on is stance is important, but that’s where the agreement ends. To my mind, you are definitely headed in the right direction.
Well done! And must say very much like the "Aaaand remember".
You know that you have something special just by the sound of that starter!
Damn right!
Charger looks right now, Jamie happy. Good vid, makes me happy.
Yup so much better, vintage is as vintage does. Forest, I mean Jamie 😂
That is such a beautiful Charger, maybe one day....
Don’t you just love the THINGS!!
I DO!
Awesome improvement! Period correct perfectness!👍
Cragars and slots are the best types of wheels, but finding nice Cragars is a lot easier than finding nice slots. Keystones are cool too.
Finally! Cragers rock!
Very nice choice. You cant go wrong with with those wheels.
MUCH better. You're right though, polished slots would look amazing.
I really like the size of Tires. It's much better than the 295s . The Chargers showing its age . You have the right approach do what you can and still be able to enjoy it.
That car is awesome!!! Cragars look great!!!
Nailed it! Cragar SS wheels are iconic and perfect for a 68 Charger. Had a set on my Dart Swinger and loved them. Excellent Choice!
Yup good old B-body content can't go wrong....your car looks nice....thanks
I hear you Jamie 🙏
Thousands of steps ,
Just to get , too your task 🤦♂️
Those Cragars are perfect
Absolutely love ❤ your
68 Charger
Nice Cragars and so much better stance with less air in those rear shocks. Right size rims too! I hate it when people put 20's on a sixties muscle car - it just looks so wrong.
I couldn’t agree more!
She looks great
Chargers + Cragars = Nice!
I would love to drive a Charger like that!!!!
Infinitely better look with the cragars!
Looks good Jamie. Good choice.
That is one pretty car. The Cragars are perfect.
Looks great Jamie.
Looks so much better beautiful charger
Looks great with new wheels 👍
Send a pic of the Cragars to Mortske . He hates Cragar wheels ,headers and flexie hoses. Love to see his expression on his face! I love the Cragars on your Charger.
I’m with him on the header question. I don’t quite get the flex hose hate but it keeps popping up in my comments. They must all be Mortske fans. Haha.
I also have seen a car in a tree!
Wheel's look great.
Looks waaay better.
I used to have that model. My favorite car and color. Nice car brother
Cragars are the gigady!
Some sell drugs,
You sell DOPE!!!
What an amazing car.
I so like the Magnum wheels.
Do what you want with your car . I had a friend take my for a ride in his 55 Chevy pickup before he rebuild it . That poor old truck wasn't safe to be on the road. After a lot of work and a frame swap and a LS swap. Now he drives it every day. PS there was a lot of beer and late nights involved too .
That looks amazing!! Make longer videos please! Best channel on RUclips, keep it up!!
Most of my videos tend to be this length or longer. I never set out with any length goal in mind; it just kind of is what it is. But I’ll see what I can do!
@@DeadDodgeGarage Nothing better than sitting down and watching a nice long episode of Dead Dodge garage! Thank you for the great content. I’ve been a tech for a while now and I can recognize when someone is knowledgeable and talented tech (which you are).
Looks great with the SS on there. My 69 came with slots on it 30 plus years ago........... oh the 80s.......... and understand the issues with trying to get something done it always leads to more work.......
I LOVE WHAT YOU LOVE 👍😎
beautiful charger son, go easy in that wet
Those Cragar’s go nicely with the red paint.
It’s perfect!
It looks fabulous!!!
One more comment(it helps your algorithm anyways)..hope its not annoying!
Cragers and Slots were the most common wheels back in the day for those cars and to be original/stand out I ran Magnum 500's lol...plus as a teen I was poor!
I still love Magnums but I switch out from my other cars,Cragers, slots, stock wheels with dog dish caps and I have a few rare sets of 78-79 Magnum GT and Aspen/Volare Super Coupe wheels (different centers than cop car wheels dog dish dont fit)...
Just thought I would bore you with more or my 80's era wheel popularity at least around here..Now to be real original a set of white wall tires the thick ones with wire wheel hubcaps,I know dont ban me for that..
There was a 68 Charger here back in the mid 80's with 2" white walls and wire wheel hubcaps,an old lady drove that a car, kicker was it was black/black duel exhaust, console, tach and a H code 383,yes as a 16 year old I asked if she wanted to sell it,she gave me one stare and said NO very firmly :) I remember that car like it was yesterday, nicest Charger I ever seen back then..I knew I should have got my Dad to ask her,she didnt like long hair punks I guess lol The AC/DC shirt probably didnt help!
Looks lots better with those Cragars on it.
Cragar is the best upgrade for any Musce car. Man it looks tough. 👌
My first choice would have instinctively been Magnums, but have to admit, those Cragers look so right. What a fantastic Charger. Eye Candy.
That car looks sweet 👌
Crager S/S, hands down the best rim ever made.
CRAGARS!! Every time!
The iconic Cragar SS is pretty much the solution to all wheel problems, had a set on my 70 Cuda, can't beat them!
Alright !!!! My favorite channel good to have another video !!!
NO MATTER HOW YOU CUT IT IT'S A DODGE CHARGER GORGEOUS NEVERTHELESS AND THANSK 😎👍💪💵🤑😁
There's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza.
I agree, looks better!
Cragar SS wheel's WORK on the 68 Charger, nice score 😊
Craig ears are timeless. They look great on her!
Love it. Got Cragar S/S on my 70 Roadrunner to. 🤩👌
Those look awesome 😎👌🏼
With super low expectations you're basically never disappointed. I'm also pretty sure Charger is Latin for WIN! Super cool car and awesome video as always!
It's a love/hate. Love the SS's, hate unilug. Order your hub-centric centering rings, and the hate part turns in to mildly annoyed by. Still a major improvement.
Cragar SS with bf Goodrich. Love the car Mopar or no car. Keep up the great work and stay safe out there.
It's looking good.
Just looks right!
Cragar SS, the greatness. Right after slotmags! Perfect stance too 👌👌
The greatest wheel
Damn! That's a good looking charger
Your '68 Charger diecast is an Ertl Elite, which was a high end diecast made by Ertl back in the early 2000's. Nice model.
@@DeadDodgeGarage You are correct. They did. Fred Ertl III first sold Ertl to Racing Champions, which I think was a division of AC2 Brands. But don't quote me on that. At any rate since then two new diecast companies, Acme and Autoworld are using some of the old Ertl molds to reissue some of the more popular Ertl diecast models.
Don't apologize for the kitty paws...are you sure it wasn't from mine? 😆. You absolutely nailed the perfect look.
Looks 1 million times better with the cragers, don't care for the wheels that were on it,they don't do anything for any old Mopar, but hey I just have great taste!
to paraphrase your closing comments .... "He who expects nothing.... is never disappointed"
Looks nice. Stance Is much better.
The car really does look great with the Cragars man. Good choice!
Sweet car!
You’re pretty funny. Thanks for posting.
Thank you!
Steelies/cop slots and dish caps ALWAYS #1
They’re up there. But I don’t think it’s the right choice for this car.
Looks good!
Indeed Jamie! My first car had them and I still dig em. Looks excellent!
Stance is perfect now.
I couldn’t agree more!
Love the cragars. The magnum 500 would have been a good choice too.
Crager mags are very nice they set the charger off very lovely any way its a very nice car take it easy brother hood
👍🏼👍🏼CRAGARS!
I had a set of 14s and 15s. The 14s had deep-dish rears with huge ass tires. They were for my first car, a 67 Dodge Coronet 440 two door hardtop, Garnet Red with a white top. Originally had 14 inch steelies with full size hubcaps with MoPar triangle in the center. Miss that car😢
Also original 383 2 barrel with 727 Torqueflite transmission. Wasn't there when I got it. Had a 318 out of van.
Crager SS rocks!!!!
Way better!!!!
everyone has their own opinions. Cragars on 68-70 chargers is the way to go. Car looks great. We did not have much time to talk due to your schedule but I bought my first 1969 charger with a 383 in 1973. Back then in Chicago everyone had Cragars no matter if it was mopar, chevy, etc. Six months after I bought the car I bought my first Cragars. I also bid the old tires goodbye with a hole shot burnout on slick pavement that left behind approx 100 feet of rubber on the pavement. bald tires a 383 and slick pavement make for an awesome combination.
Ohhh yeah. It sure does. Haha. The 383 is the greatest.
now that you are going down the 69 rabbit hole - Tom H got a lot of other parts that you did not see when you picked up my 69. they were picked up by another friend of toms. i do not know if he even received them yet. i know your engine stuff will come first, but a quick look may not hurt. thanks as always mike furlan
Thanks for the content from Russia, ,Stalingrad
Man, that is a beautiful car. Well done. I made a small scream when you pulled it into the shop after washing it. The angle made it look like you were gonna gack the driver door on the lift. True to form, tge easy would have become complicated. Crisis averted.
I’ve pulled it in there many times. But they’re not small cars, and I’m always afraid the corner of the front right fender is going to hit 😬
Nailed it!
The 68 is my favorite Charger
Mine too!
I have to build things and make things just to be able to fix things I get it 🤙
Damn....2 thumbs up❤
You're more than welcome to keep the blue Duster at my place 😁 Been looking forever and can't find anything that wouldn't cause me a divorce...
That’s an 87k mile 340 4 speed original paint Demon 😁 and it won’t be going anywhere. They aren’t getting any cheaper…
Nice 👍
I didn’t mind the first rims terribly if they would have had the proper offset and you could have dropped the rear down to where it is now. The stance killed it for me, looks proper now 👍
Exactly. If they had actually been measured and fitted correctly, I probably would have left well enough alone. But I much prefer this.
I do agree with everything you said today
