  • Today on Dead Dodge Garage, we sell everything that isn’t nailed down (except the Demon) to spend a truly ridiculous amount of money on a car… but it’s my absolute favorite car of ever! The future is dumb, but at least my dream car is going to be in mine.
    But, as you might have guessed… it has some problems.

      @@DeadDodgeGarage 68 charger is the best year my uncle had 2 of them, they both were red with white interior, I just watched the video on RUclips and u said u won't buy any more cars and I said to myself u need to buy a 1969 road runner with a 383 4 speed posi rear I had one.

    • @DeadDodgeGarage
      @DeadDodgeGarage  Год назад

      @@alexdecastro4655 I love Roadrunners but I don't know that there is room in my stable for another B body any time soon. I have bought and sold a few things since the time of this video, but I haven't made any more major automotive investments - and I won't be able to for some time. I think I might like to have an E body (I've got a pretty good A body and this Charger, so that's the next natural step right?) But I also found a '68 340 Barracuda I'd really, really like to own. And on top of that, I'd really like a '55 Chrysler C300. Too many cars, too little time...

      @@DeadDodgeGarage Damn, I'm a Mopar head I love that Chrysler C300 my dad had one in white and white interior, if I had money like that I would have RoadRunners, chargers, GTX, SUPERBEES, Challengers Baracuda, I would have it all, I went nuts when I went to Mopar Nationals over at Pennsylvania. Hopefully I'm going this year too.

    I've been lucky enough to have owned two 69 Dodge Chargers. Bought one in 81 in a junkyard in National City, CA. $500. Sold it when I was sent overseas. 383, console, 727, Dana 60. In 85 I bought another in Denver, $1200. 318, 727, column shift. No posi. I'll never be able to own another; they're just too expensive now. I have a 64 Valiant to restore. It's good. I like yours!

      I love an early A body too. A bodies were my jam forever. Still are, but I like the slightly larger B body - mostly for the ride quality. I’m putting together a ‘66 Barracuda street / strip car currently. Very excited about it. When my wife moved back here from California, it was basically our only car. Rowdy 360, four speed, 4.10s, glass packs with side dumps. We had a lot of fun in the thing. It’s gone through a few sets of hands and has now come back to me. It’s going to be awesome again - soon.
      I never, ever thought I could afford a nice Charger. I had actually just tried to buy an absolutely rotten POS shell to slowly build into a car. I got burned on that deal. I got really lucky on a deal for a Cobra replica last year, and when I eventually decided to sell, that (and a bunch of other projects) became my Charger. Still can’t believe it’s in the garage sometimes…

    If I was going to have this style, this would be the year. My friend has had his since he was 17. He has put a lot of love into it. For me though, you can't beat a 67 charger. It's just magical. One day I'll find one, or at least a clean enough one to work on. The lights, the body line, the interior, it was the whole package.

      Agree, but only ‘66 has the full length console 😍 the interior is definitely magical on the early car. I had one for years, but once I got the ‘68 I always wanted, the ‘66 became surplus.

I really feel bad for people getting burned by cars like that one for $170k. That’s horrible! People spending that kind of cash should spend a few hundred bucks on a Mopar expert to do a pre inspection before they buy it. Awesome video, and great to see so many familiar roads after a while (I moved from Oregon to the Southwest years ago).
    ‘68 is THE year for A and B Bodies . My preferences are towards the GTO (my first car in high school), 442, and Skylark for their 400s compared to the SS 396, but Mopars in ‘68 still look amazing. There must’ve been something in the water in ‘66-‘67 where engineers finally wrapped their heads around aesthetics and function, as the precursor design to the F-14 was locked down that same year.
    If you get the chance in Oregon, I believe the Chevelle Club in the Beaverton area still hosts a local cruise-in off Farmington and Kinnaman across the street from Mountain View Middle School. It didn’t hurt that Gold Eagle Classics (a GM resto parts retailer) used to be in business just a mile down the road off 185th and Farmington.

    • @DeadDodgeGarage
      @DeadDodgeGarage  3 месяца назад

      There was definitely something in the water. It was such a great time for design. It sure didn’t last long… I agree! I have a great aunt in Beaverton and have spent a good bit of time there, but I’ve never been with one of my classics.

      My opinion too. I fell in love with the look the first time I saw it, and that got me into cars and pretty much decided the course of my life. It’s really important to me - and I have wanted my own ever since. Thank you!

      I still have my ‘66 too! I’ve had it since 2013. My daughter came home from the hospital in it, and went to her first day of school in it too. She says we should keep it forever. I’m good with that.

      @@DeadDodgeGarage very bittersweet watch.... I am glad you got into one, sorry it cost so much for you to get it. [I am really being thankful that I got mine in the later 80's after high school,, and I'll refrain from saying how much] so you don't just hate me for that.
      I am tickled that your kiddo went with... I am sorta bummed I didn't have any to share moments like that with. But, my Sis had 3 and my Brother had 2, so I get to be Uncle Pat instead,, which has it's benefits.
      That's a great color combo. Mine's Apple Green with the same interior and white butt stripe. 440/833/2.73 Best mileage has been 16.4 with these gears and a 27.5" tire. But the car is WAY more fun with 3.91's
      I think a tremec is going to find its way in the car fairly soon and that will make things perfect.
      Thanks for posting your adventure and keep sharing. New sub here.

    I had that exact ride once in a freshly purchased firebird only there where no lights in front and it was an 89 Formula totally different league of vehicle. Mine only costed 500 bucks tho. Ya can't mess with that dawg. What a great car you have there.

      It’s a Cobra replica, yes. I actually sold it to pay for the Charger, but it hadn’t yet been picked up by shippers when I brought the Charger home. I do! Whenever the weather allows - which was a lot until fall finally came this last week.

    I enjoyed the ride along. Reminds me of a trip to Myrtle Beach from Kannapolis NC. My buddy and me in 1979 in my 69 Charger 383 auto with an Offenhouser 2X4 bbl. I bet our mileage was worse. But we had fewer miles to go. We picked up our girl friends that morning and drove to the food store. A fine officer of the law pulled me over in the parking lot and after checking all my paper work. Let me know my brake lights were not working. He gave me a business card that his brother in law owned. Towing and repair. Told me not to move my car until the car was repaired. Then he proceeded to park across the street and observe. My buddy was a great mechanic and said it was the fuse. So we bought some fuses along with the groceries we came for. Then returned to the car and replaced the fuse. I drove out of the lot and right by the cop with out using my brakes. The law pulled out quite quickly and just as he approached my rear bumper. I braked for the stop sign. He had such a disgusted look on his face. 😂. The 2X4 intake is one funny story also. For another time. I felt your joy in the trip. Many more ahead.

    My Mother had a new red 68 Charger R/T with a black vinyl top, white interior and a white bumblebee stripe.
    I was 16 at the time and just got my DL and when she would let me drive it I was in heaven.

      That’s amazing. My great grandma had a 383 car almost identical to mine - except it was a burnt orange or copper color and didn’t have a vinyl top. She was well known for ripping around town in that car.

    Great find man! I loved the way you film this a lot of car exposure 68 charger is an absolutely beautiful car! I’ve owned American Japanese German cars, but I’m basically a GM old car type of guy, i’m 62 years old. In 2001 I had a chance to buy a 67 Coronet RT 440 4 speed with the Dana60 rear end , it was all original , paint was old, but it was in perfect condition needed a new clutch for $12,500. I didn’t buy it. Yes, I just slapped myself in the face for being such a dumbass. Love this video. Been in that position a few times myself.
