I like that Sweden guy he never compliments himself he said my team and I
Jay: Let’s meet his team... his buddies. Him: ...my heroes
Google "Law of Jante" (jäntelagen in swedish)
@@holseng I will check it out
My supervisor always takes all the credit for work done by his team (me). Irritates the hell outa me. Johan is a good guy. Needs to teach my super a thing or two about TEAM.
Do you mean van Koenigsegg?
American cars from the 50s through to the 70s are very popular in Sweden, to me they're the greatest cars ever made.
Problem is America has a lot of long straight roads to cater for this type of car. Wouldn't want one for constant small turns and in and out of traffic.
Uncle Ruckus thats why my friend moved to america from germany
Indeed they are. Innovation, power, styling. No other country was doing what America was doing in the 60s and 70s with the car industry. What happened with Group B rally racing in the 80s is comparable in a way but nowhere near as iconic in my opinion.
During that time car manufacturers in America were building these muscle cars for two things. Quarter mile drag racing and NASCAR racing. It's where the term "win on Sunday and sell on Monday" came from. Some truly beautiful cars came from this... my favorite just happens to be the Charger :D
@sebastian Sm you tell em Sebastian! I dont know how we go two days without crashing around here.
16:12 "oh my hair is standing up"" 😂😂😂 he mean to say I'm getting goosebumps
Number 1 car guy rule: Respect the Build whether you like it or not the person who built it likes it and that's all that matters.
KrisThatsit indeed
Agreed, all these people commenting about the wheels must not be car enthusiasts
A twin turbo V10... Custom headers... Electric hood. That he got 24x14s to fit dropped that low is amazing in itself!
Brayan Garcia nothing wrong with stating our opinions. I personally think it's a beautiful car. But I'm not a fan of massive wheels with tiny sidewalls on any cars
I wouldn't have chosen those rims, and I'd also dump the sound system, but it is a show car, and extremes seem to be the rule with show cars.
You can tell the passion he had talking about his car. He probably could talk hours on this car.
Charles Hu jay leno is a true car guy in general. loves everyone of his cars and they all have a story!
He’d probably be able to talk more if Jay didn’t cut him off every 10 seconds..
Yeah, I wish the video was longer and talked more detail..
+RoyalOceanRWB yeah just remember he took carson off the air as the #1 interviewer. he cuts and yer finished. he's the star...
Charles Hu ...close, I'll bet he can talk for months about this build, and why not, to him it's about passion not a paycheck...isn't that what really matters in life!..?
16:46 Jay: "How do you say _burn out_ in Swedish?"
Johan Eriksson: "We say _burn out_ "
🇸🇪
Or translated Brinn ut
One of my favorite episodes. The builder's genuine excitement and pride was awesome.
MrLangDog as he showed how and where they cut the roof down...
Huh
Man that’s a humble dude! You can tell he loves every minute of talking cars with Jay. Already had the attention at Sema, now Strait to Jay’s garage. You can get to the top by being the good guy!
4 years later and this is still the most impressive craftsmanship I've ever seen.
Because of ideology.
0:32 "I could barely get near the car there was such a crowd"
So he has it privately shipped to his garage; no crowd there.
And he drives it haha
Its Jay Leno. He can
Yup yup i,d like privately shipped to my garage to stay permenately
You can feel the passion just by watching the video. You may not like it, and that's ok, they clearly do. It took them a lot of work and for that they deserve everyone's respect.
Just watched this today; April 7, 2020.
In the midst of our global event; this video is such a beautiful relief.
Just perfect.
Mr. Leno,
I wished you lived next door.
Actually, my neighbors are great!
Maybe I wish you were closer.
Thanks.
George
Swedes are such nice people and very complimentary of our nation. What a great place and what a great people. Thank you for producing such excellent work.
I thought Obama Sin Laden said the whole world hates America and we need to apologize for existing?
Yeah man, that was very apparent when Jay and owner were on the drive. First it started with the flag in the trunk but Jay christening the car with its first drive was an amazing privilege of 5 years of work.
Everyone talks trash on America, but really everyone loves America.
Americans and America is great, just the politics (incest) and some greedy corporations are a pain in the global butt.
Greg Esch As much as this point about corporations being a pain in the butt is repeated ad nauseum, US corporations obviously have the most positive impact of any corporations in the world. We are for example currently watching a video on RUclips (US corporation) about a Dodge (US corporation) hosted on Jay Leno’s Garage (US show) on our probably Apple or Microsoft devices (US corporations). So there’s a certain loss of perspective when we’re complaining about “teh currpurrations!!1!”.
God bless Sweden and God bless this man. He is far more American than most Americans. If we could all just have respect for each other's respective countries and the cultures therein it would make this world a much nicer place to live in.
Well said!
Great comment as you disrespect your own culture and people. Who the hell do you think you are? Read your own words bozo.
For sure I don't know why everybody's got a fuss it would be a much better world if everybody took everybody as who they are and what they do for sure, don't think that will happen😢😢😠😠
@@FYMASMD exactly, nobody does it like the USA💪🇺🇸🗽👍. Without America, you all would be speaking German by now and both the Jews and Christians would be dead.
To you maybe, you don't have to trod over Americans everytime, just to prove your point
Such a iconic muscle car transformed into a real work of art !!!! I've got nothing but HUGE respect for Jay Leno and everything he has done for car enthusiasts and his passion for all forms of motorsports !!! Jay is so important to the culture of cars, he has done so much to bring it to our attention and shared more of his own knowledge then the next top ten collectors behind him. What he's done and how he has done it is just outstanding. There's never going to be another person who has willingly spent so much of their own $$$, and given it all happily back just for the automotive passion of car enthusiasts like him !! You'll never hear of Jay not paying a fair price , or cutting corners on a build of any kind, EVER !! One of my favorite stories is of a widow with a 275 alloy bodied Ferrari , if I recall she was asking $350k which she thought was ridiculous money. But he got her nearly 4 million and just to have her bake him some cookies ! That speaks volumes of his character and doing what's best for others !!
I would be incredibly honored just to meet him someday, just so I could tell him how much I appreciate everything he has done for the automotive world and preserving it to perfection !! God bless him ,🇺🇸 &🏎🏍 keep all forms of MOTORSPORTS ALIVE for many many more years to come !!!
The car looks like an real size of "hot wheel" toy 😊😊
So he plays English rock music for his American car 😂

*What an absolutely jaw dropping car. Done to perfection*
*Molestation* That's the word you were looking for.
G Man this reply deserves an award! 😂
yes, that front, and the cherry pop color..
Those low profile tires and wheels are nowhere near close to perfection...
Ruins the look of the car completely....
He's so soft-spoken and he never takes full credit... it's a team build. The attention to detail is absolutely sublime.
My heart skipped a beat when I saw this videos thumbnail.
What a beautiful car.
I'm in love.
Same here! Caught my eye and I couldn't wait for it to load in that millisecond that it took.
The Swedes in general have a very good grip of the English language and a love affair of all things American..there just Awesome people, l love em.
A true Retro Mod! I love the touches. The automatic hood and trunk opening is great. The front splitter is a nice touch. The interior is amazing! Truly a beautiful second Gen charger.
Johan is THE most humble builder I've ever seen. Class guy and beautiful car
Wow! What a work of art. This car is beautiful inside & out. 5yrs worth of blood sweat & tears all out of some guys garage. Congrats to him & his team. Awesome work.
Honestly when it comes to engineering and metal work Swedes are amazing at least one thing to be proud of as a Swede.
Swedes make amazingly hq stuff
I've been watching Jay Leno's garage for sometime and have seen a ton of vehicles and this is by far the best vehicle I've ever seen. It is incredible the level of workmanship that this gentleman and his team put into this vehicle.
Love the craftsmanship in this car. Just beautiful.
I like how when the owner is asked about his favourite American rock ‘n’ roll, the first two bands are AC/DC and Def Leppard. 😎😂
24 inch rears! That’s one sweeet ride! 1968 muscle, as good as it gets! 👍
Yes, i could write a Book on bragging for these Men, they all deserve it, the Craftsmanship and Humility that comes from these Men i could only Pray for!
WOW.....Thank you for sharing.
The bumpers look like they've been worked on by Foose, that's how great their finish work is, this rig is a piece of art....
I’ll take this over a new one all day ‼️‼️💯
Absolutely, it shocks me that dodge doesn't just remake this same exact exterior body design and bring this back. This car is timeless.
Jay, you should do a show from the meet in Sweden he talked about. Would be awesome.
i could bite that cat face!!
Beam Meup had the same thought.
I agree, Jay, do this thing, you'll never regret it. Cmon man, you're retired--do it!
Jay should seriously consider to come. Everybody knows Jay in Sweden. He will be very welcomed by 20000 American car enthusiasts from all over Europe. Jay could present the Jay Leno car award in person, normally it's presented by Jay's Swedish painter Per.
His collection of battery chargers is more than my net worth 😂😂😂
hahaha for real
I've lost count of how many times I watched this episode. This car is amazing. The look the sound... Just... Wow!
I can’t help but think small wheels would look way better! The guy did some great work though
At least it's something easily fixed, but I agree those wheels are massive - so much chrome.
I agree. The huge rims don't look right on it. 24s are just to big. I like the style but some 15 to 17 inch rims would look a lot better on this car. I owned a 68 R/T and miss the car a lot. Almost as much as my 70 R/T challenger 440 6 pack convertible.
agree, the "hotwheels" wheels is way too much but the rest of the car is very nice
Michael Wilkening WHEELS
I agree
You may or may not like particular design choices, but the insane level of craftsmanship, attention to detail and drive for excellence has to be respected. The machining on all of those aluminium parts is absolutely jaw-dropping, as in it is on par with Zonda interiors. Absolutely incredible build.
I love the stock chargers of this time period, but our Viking counterparts did an excellent job of their brand of a rebuild of something they love too. Beautiful.
The huge rims make it look like a life size Hot Wheels car. Looks absolutely amazing
I don't often comment about cars of this nature but this is just a gorgeous peice. So balanced...I see so much influence from a variety of areas, and the craftsmanship is spectacular. Wheel fitment is 🔥...honestly, I wouldn't change a thing 👐👌👍🇸🇪
Not my type of car, but Jesus! The craftsmanship of that team is out of this world.
This is one sweet ride.I love this car.Just the stance alone without it moving is killer.Good job.
Awesome car. Had a little laugh at the music question.
So what AMERICAN Rock'n'Roll do you like? ..... AC/DC (Australian) , Def Leppard (British), Guns N' Roses (American) and Dire Straits (British). :)
Alex Swain I was thinking the same lmao
Alex Swain Most Americans would answer the question in the same exact way.
yeah Bernie was thinking the same when I thought GnR are the only Muricans he said...
hahaha all almost no americano!! at least he didnt say Bjork!
my fav american actors are hugh jackman and russell crowe
What a beautiful color !! And that electronic hood... Amazing, well done !
Hands down my favourite car of all time. Big fan jay✌️
this car is amazing!
wouldnt change a thing..this guy is awesome. i like how everything has a meaning.

So that “gger” at the end means what?
Integrated door handles
I really respect Jay Leno, man. He seems like a guy who is more passionate about cars than anything and I could get the vibe he's a down to earth dude without meeting him.
I love a Wiper Wee Ten!! Those crazy Wikings.
I just LOVE that Jay mentions the old 2stroke Saab!
This car is incredible. This guy is very cool. Great episode. Thanks Jay!
Car looks amazing. Screw the haters! One of a kind. How can you not like it!
The wheels are an aquired taste. Older cars were designed with smaller wheels, sometimes when they are shod with larger than 18" they begin to look a bit toylike. My 1st car was a 1968 Charger and this car looks great, but, the wheels are too big for me, I have seen some with 17' or even 18" on the back and that's as big as I would go.
SuperExcedrin I hear ya. But that's the whole point of giving an ole school car a taste of modern mods. It's a old car with newer technology and newer look. Some people will restore a car and have it looking the same as it did from factory while others would prefer to modernize it. That's the beauty about cars. You can do whatever you want to your vehicle. Even it it means you're the only one the likes it lol.
Yes, and that's the reason not to say "screw the haters", isn't it?
What the hell would you know kid? Look at the cars you like. People these days know very little or next to nothing about being a HotRodder or a Muscle car guy! People who grew up on Fast and the Furious, lol! Hip hop, rap, lolol!
SuperExcedrin think about how durable those rims are though
Yea, thats off the chart. Wow. Unbelievable quality. Well done.
This dude has really good taste. Everything looks so good.
If good means bad. This thing looks awful and gaudy. Factory original looks better than this.
@@springwoodslasher79 So resto mods isn't for you, still they're out there.

Don't pretend like you're not....
Blair Brown that was my first thought 😂
The 68 Charger is one of my favorite cars, and this one is unbelievable!
YES.... BACK TO THE '''SWEDISH CHARGER R/T/R''' LOVE THAT VIPER V10 BI -TURBO ENGINE AND ALL THE REST.... GREETINGS FROM PORTREE, ISLE OF SKYE, SCOTLAND 😊😊
The most stunning charger I’ve ever seen!
What an honor they made to Jay letting him be the first driver. Just incredible! This car is a stunner !
As much as I admire Christian Koenigsegg I think, if I could only have one and not resell it, I'd take Johan Eriksson's Charger over a Koenigsegg.
1hourOfLove : Of course, these are two very different cars and processes. The former is made from scratch, whereas the latter is a resto mod and therefore subject to very different constraints. Not the least of which is personal ownership versus volume production.
You cant compare them. The experience of driving is too different.
Yup definitely thers only one of these
Or sell the koenigsegg and buy 15 of these ...
Respect 🙏
It’s amazing what these guys accomplished, top custom shops would drool over this build
I would name this car:
"The Hammer of the Gods"
Sound track would be:
"The Immigrant Song"
Fantastic craftsmanship!
Love the subtle rear wheel well flare, that tapers back into the original rear end width! Just outta this world!
VIKING BURNOUTS
"it's a whiper whee 10" i love this guy
It is really tough to find any words to describe....how I felt when I saw this car.......I am such a charger fan.......68-70 this color he chose.......I am speechless every time the camera gets close to the paint.....that color red.....drives me nuts......what a work of art!
This guy is such a visionary.... Humble kind smart and driven by aspiration and his love for his whole team...... Legendary Man team and car........ And to think this is the only RTR like this in the world.... Keep doing what you're doing Sweden my hat's off to you 😭🔥💯🤙🏽💫
One of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen.
I had a '68 Charger (*Nothing* like this one, but...) that I bought for $1,000 in 1972, and sold a few years later. Now retired at age 67, I still engage in the daily ritual of kicking myself for being dumb enough to part with it! At least I still have memories..... *This* car, on the other hand, is a genuine work of art! Kudos to the builder(s), and thanks, Jay, for presenting this wonderful one-of-a-kind Swedish tribute to American muscle!! :-)
Me.
"That car is sick"
Swedish guy.
"Absolutely"
Beautiful. I am only seeing the paint through video on my computer but from what I can see it is stunning. Nice job!!
The way that car looks in motion 😍... but my favorite feature is the way those 24's in back contrast with the overall look 🔥
Johan and his crew really creates a masterpiece. It's always interesting to see the many creative people that participate in a restoration of this quality.
Much respect to the builders. What a masterpiece. Thank you for sharing it.
I had a 1968 Dodge Charger R/T, 440 Magnum, 4spd with a Hurst shifter, 780 dual-line Holly, with American Mags. Fine memories.
His enthusiasm is infectious! I wanna go do Swedish burnouts😂
I join you if you want? :)
wiking burnouts!
Such a beautiful car I'm proud to see him have a car from my own county and turn it into a piece of art. Better than most American workmanship.
Real car people know the beauty in the struggle, the respect is always there. Knowledge to be shared and laughs to be had, Love it!
I love how he talks about it in the metric system.
The rims look a tad off but it otherwise looks damn near perfect.
Nice job Johan. Very impressive.
Agreed.
Man agreed with himself
i love this guy and jay. jay is truly a real car guy by the way he respects different build styles. i hate hearing idiots always saying stuff like "its to low, wheels to big, wheres the 8 track player" how boring would it be to see only stock vehicles? nothing wrong with not liking things, but i like to hear stuff like "he did a hell of a good job on it though" at the end. show some respect! dont consider yourself a "car guy" if the only thing you can respect is "your car"
Handsdown my favorite car on earth right now... I want the wheels for my mine... amazing work it's unbelievable real breathtakingly gorgeous
It's so beautiful to see both Swedish and American cultures represented in this car. It's so cool to see his immense respect for American car culture. A beautiful thing. Makes you proud to be an American!
I would rather have a 1990 Volvo 740 with a small block than any car with the limited edition crack dealer wheels.
Man! I saw this when I was a kid in Lebanon and ever since I have always dreamt about driving one. Such an iconic piece. All respect to Swedish builders

The winters might be long in Sweden......but you have beautiful Swedish ladies to distract you. Not sure my car would ever get finished 😉. Nice work guys.
but you have beautiful american furry cats to distract you here.. so quit complaining and go one keep building it till you finish it!
Elton Joel What the hell is your problem?
Mr Eclipse spotter problem for speaking the truth?
Sweden has a long tradition of car hobby, construction and hot rod. Also as a car manufacturer, both heavy equipment and passenger cars and all are world famous and respected. Sweden is one of the top names in the manufacture of turbocharged passenger cars and is the most reliable and durable from the outset. Not to mention heavy equipment and marine engines. Even though I live in a neighboring country, I am proud that I live next door to even.
In 1995 I bought my first car. I was 15 and I had saved up $2,500, I had been working since my 7th grade summer, doing odd jobs around the neighborhood until I was finally able to work legally. I purchased a 289, 1967 Ford Mustang Burgundy metallic exterior with parchment interior. It was beautiful and required little work. I sold in 1997 for $5,000 so I could purchase my dream car, a 1969 Dodge Charger 383 Magnum. The Charger ran but it needed a lot of work, I spent months restoring it, replacing the interior and exterior all together while doing some minor engine work. It had a Teal metallic exterior with a black vinyl top and white leather interior with black compliments. It was beautiful, and my biggest regret was having to sell it when I left for college. It was my dream car and now, replacing it would cost well beyond anything I could afford. It's sad. I sold it for just $7,500.00, and sure enough it was a dealer who bought it, towed it away on a flat bed truck. One of the saddest moments of my life, at that point.
hey its 2017 build another one amigo and share the pics with us!!
sadly I haven't done so, when I went for university, the car project was dragging money and time, being upset at both
so it could be worse
Well, you could always buy another car (different make) and sell it. Keeps you busy. Keeps your dollars up.
Thanks everyone.. All good thoughts. I was just airing my frustrations. I had made those purchases and completed those restorations back when classic cars were still very much affordable. Selling a '69 383 Magnum Charger in incredible condition for a measly $7,500.00 hurts. If I could've stored the vehicle while I was away at College, even for just a few years, I would have been able to sell it after the classic car boom here in the states. But, honestly, if I could've stored it, I would have kept it b/c it really was my dream car.
Shodaximus when you graduate college have a home and doing good buy a better one already restored. I also went through that I'm 25 and had to sell my 1968 mustang Gt fastback. I stopped worrying about it because I'm young And know I will buy be able to buy a better one in the future..
Mannn, what a show stopper. Love the color and the custom wheels. 🔥🔥🔥
Bill Adams, I remember your '68 Charger. Thanks for all the rides to school. Hope you are well, and are taking it easy.

And Jay's reaction is priceless!
They left out The Who and Led Zep :-D
Actually only AC-DC had Rock'n roll style songs, Def leopard is glam-metal/heavy metal and Dire is Blues rock/ pub rock.
Though I really want to know if he was just messing with jay.
That is a spectacular job on one of the most iconic, balanced, unique and beautiful American car designs ever. Richard Sias, still in his 20s, created a masterpiece and then left the car industry.
