@@KeepTheGates it is important actually. Having good posture in your neck and shoulders directly correlates with better base and balance which, in turn, allows you to stabilize the rifle under recoil better.
Congrats brother welcome, pro tip: you will have erg to buy every gun in the gun shop, “dont” lol.. try not to atleast! My advise is buy what you want to build. Train with the same pistol rifle and get realllly good at it. Like a Samurai with his sword
I’ve been shooting all over the place and trying to figure out why. Without having seen this video I found that I was standing linear to my target so I tried to stand squarer which helped. In doing so I automatically brought the butt of the rifle from my shoulder “joint” inward to my collar bone which saved me from canting my head over to see through the scope. If I’d watched this video first it would have helped but I wouldn’t necessarily have understood why. Great instruction.
Great video. I’ve found that getting the stock closer towards the center of my chest instead of further outward towards my shoulder makes for a much better sight line and posture. Best tip out there.
It's interesting how a lot of proper form and stance can be found in lifting. Combination of a deadlift/lunge stance, squared hips and chest, internally rotated elbows etc.
These vids might not be an all inclusive summary of your curriculum, but they excellent places to start and practice reminders. Thank you for putting the up & thank you for the video break ups/jumps
solid solid instruction! After several classes, one thing I recently learned is to experiment with hand placement and elbow angle of the non dominant hand to see which produces the least movement of the dot during 3 to 5 rounds. One instructor even had me shoot in 3 to 5 full auto burst to check recoil mgmt. I found there's truly no one size fits all. For me, running an overgassed SBR, the left elbow ends up higher than the bore, with a C grip that's almost completely canted over the rail.
Profoundly glad I happened across this account.. I've watched 2 videos so far. Information/instruction is so concise and clear that I can't wait to get out and practice!
I see so many videos showing folks chicken winging their dominant side elbow out that I started to question if I was shooting wrong. Thanks for clearing it up!
Excellent, concise, legit info. ty ty. New shooters should be aware that some of this is more advanced techniques to employ after you have safety and basics nailed down. Indoor ranges will probably frown on speed shooting especially with eyes off target.
That's some good info! I always felt there was something I wasn't doing quite right with my stance and grip. Now I have a much better understanding why. Thanks for making this vid!
Omg this video is fantastic. I’m also a new gun owner and I’ve had all these questions in my head. This video covered all of my initial questions. I definitely plan on taking courses at the range but this is a fantastic starter video.
Just a few questions for anyone listening. I’m not an expert but I was in the Marines and I was taught a completely different stance with the rifle. I was taught to stand more at an angle than straight on target like everyone else is doing today? I was also taught to grab the handgaurd close to my body, not necessarily grip but let the rifle rest in my hand, elbows were tucked into the body to be as ridged as possible and also having a small silhouette. For some context I went to boot camp in 2001 and got out in 2006. I was never issued modern body armor we had the old flack vests. Are the newer stances more for modern body armor? Also we had m16a2s not m4s, the muzzle rise was almost nonexistent, felt like a 22lr. Are the new stances better, are they more for wearing body armor and suited to a shorter length rifle?
Absolute game changer for me - thanks so much for taking the time to make this super informative video. Any chance you can share what kind or brand of sling you are using?
Love the Triarc Rick…my custom 11.5” is in “Packaging/Final QQ” and should ship this week. It’s gonna marry a CGS Helio QD once they are both out of ATF jail.
@@superbombasticbubblingplastic I looked it up and you're right about which product it is, so thank you for pointing me in the right direction. However it is not a magnifier, it is a 1X prism that essentially gives you a new zero for long range shooting so you don't have to bother with holdovers. Thanks again and cheers.
I am having an issue if you could help me out. As a service member with the Army when standing I have issues with recoil management in that each shot recoil is going up and right rather than straight up and down. I am a right handed shooter. My stance is very similar to yours in that left hand is pulling the rifle back into my shoulder pocket, rolling my shoulders in, elbows down, with a staggered stance right leg back slightly with my chest squared to the target. Have an idea or a video to help with that?
Kind of stupid question but I’m new to the gun scene, should it feel not so comfortable where I’m placing my stock at when holding my AR in order to maximize the recoil control
Its a good thing you use all these techniques to mitigate the recoil of your ar-10. Its not like youre using an ar15 with the weakest rifle round, .223.

As I have just joined my first gun club (last Saturday 12th Feb) this video is helping me feel a bit less naive! Lots to learn... Thanks

great video. whats the thing infront of the eotech, looks like a lense?

why do you have your QD sling attachment on the right hand side interfiering with your right hand? is there a functional reason or?

what is that lense looking thing in front of the eotech?
Was this recorded at Southington hunt club
Ww3 coming and I'm training for my country 🏴🇬🇧
Good info and a lot less tacit-douchey than most. Might have to sub.
2:15 isn't the stock resting on the collarbone? Its probably fine with 5.56mm, I just wanna know
Nice.. 👍
What's that device in front of the EOTECH? I've seen them before but have no idea what they do. The tan thing folded down with a QD mount?
fantastic basic stuff that mostbpeople get wrong, which screws everything else up
what weapon is that? What bullet caliber it uses?
Are you wearing a level 7 Helikon Tex jacket?
Hi, the name of your grip on the carabine use?
how long is depth for a tak
What non dominant side grip is he using??
What does having ur elbows inline mean?
Can anyone tell me what kind of hand stop Rick is using?
What lower is that?
my issue with the stock placement part of the video is that it just doesn't work like that when your using a plate carrier and gas mask
Anyone know what sling that is?
Does anyone else after they see a shooter flare out their support arm elbow hear the meme music, “Chicken wing, chicken wing”!? Just me? Lol
EJ, if you catch this video. Bend your knees, lean forward into the shot and put your chest in front of your hips.
And that guy you flagged is blessed. Hire yourself an instructor.
I have problems finding grip with a plate carrier.
What is that, infront of eotech ?
what is in front of his red dot??
Just a "curious" question. What is this "device" installed at the top between the scope and the laser sighting device?!
flip up magnification
Yeah I was wondering as well, it looked like a boyscout-size compass with a hinge to raise it up. haha
Tacom Alpha TARAC
It's a device from TACOM that basically makes it so you don't need to incorporate holdovers out to certain ranges.
What foregrip is that?
Emissary handbrake
Lol we ain’t gonna be aloud to do this soon
What is that hand stop?
Same question. Closest thing i can find is the Emissary Development handbrake. I like the BCM KAG but like that oversized one.

wich gun has in his hands?
