The permanent with the ability needs to be on the battlefield to see you spend the mana. Notably, if you spend five mana to cast Junkblade Bruiser itself, its ability won't see that. By the time it's on the battlefield, you're spending-at best-your sixth mana to cast spells that turn, so the ability will have to wait until next turn to trigger. If you cast Bayway Barterer and Shok in the same turn, the Expend dosnt trigger
Daring Waverider combined with Displacer Kitten. If you have a ton of instant and/or sorcery spells in your graveyard, you will be able to recast all of them. Just keep blinking the Daring Waverider so you can cast every instant and/or sorcery spell with cmc 4 or less for free. If you also have Ral, Crackling Wit on the field, you will be able to use the -10 ability right away and give all your spells storm while you're at it. Now with Bria, Riptide Rogue as the commander, you can end up with large, unblockable otters to finish the game. Let's just say that I'm very much looking forward to the otters from Bloomburrow😅
