- This was an Instagram Live recorded on 10.8.2019. I was going to do the timestamps, but honestly there are almost 50 questions so....hopefully you enjoy it anyway! I re-uploaded it to see if the default RUclips compression altered the quality and made things look like they were out of focus and...voila! Way better this time around.

Thanks for releasing this right away as a podcast as well. Makes the walk to and from work much more nuanced.
Random time stamp guy in the comments where you at? 😩
I am so glad to see you back on the "tubes" as you say. Missed all the Nuance.
Stoked that this made it to RUclips, and hope more Instagram Lives make it on here as I don't always have the time to catch them before they expire on Instagram. Always informative and something to take away from each one.
My dude you gotta put up timestamps. Very few people will watch an hour long video on the off chance that one or two of the questions interest them.
And even less people will read a description with over 50 questions timestamped. Sorry man, I don’t think there’s a good solution here unless there are less topics.
I would rather him upload the IG live videos without timestamps than not upload them at all. With an hour long Q&A there's probably 30+ questions. That's a lot of time stamps. I would imagine that would take a couple of hours at least to do, and it seems like Jordan's time is generally more valuable than that. It's a different story on the higher production videos like the training vlogs that likely get most of the views.
I love the long videos.
Barbell Medicine less topics and more uploads!!!
Count me as one of the few then.
Great stuff as usual. Love to buy a bunch of BBM t-shirts, but as an older person, shirts have to have a pocket for my reading glasses. Just a thought
Can't you hang them in the neck line? I thought pockets in shirts were more for pack of cigarettes!
Good to hear that Jordan's like "5x5 is an okay way to start strength training."
Way more volume than a 3x5 program.
Stronglifts was my LP before I started BBM programs.
@Ismael aljaroudi no just too strong
Whaddup nerds! Let's get this.
Ten bananas a day. Got it.
"Poverty of flesh" sounds like a great name for a death metal or death core band xD
Will Barbell Medicine ever have their own Certification?
Ken Craig yes and it will be very nuanced.
Barbell Medicine - I see what you did there 😳
Got a 3 inch belt from Pioneer. My first belt and I bought it over a 4 inch because I’m 5 foot 4 inches tall so thought I needed something smaller. I was wrong...😣
Citation needed for high doses of vitamins causing increased risk of cancer.
Great discussion on red meat. No ideology. Just science. Well done (pun intended 🥩)
I love squats, but not for quad hypertrophy. I use squats to make me generally strong, and more so in my back than my legs.
From my experience, riding a bike up hill in high gear and body weight lunges always made my legs bigger than squats.
I have be doing squats for about 6 months, but stopped riding my mountain bike. I have gained a lot more total body strength (I can tell my construction job), but my legs are slightly smaller.
Hey Jordan,
At 11:00 minutes when you respond to the question about mad cow with a simple: “no, but that’s my opinion”.
It would be helpful if you would explain briefly why the program is sub-optimal; how you formed your firm opinion.
Justin Schmitt I wrote an article called into the great wide open that covers why it and similar programs would not be my choice.’I also explained that there are better programs available for free at present.
Barbell Medicine
Perfect chance to briefly plug the article again for people new to your channel and lifting.
Ah yes that article. An article that lives in infamy. Just reread it. Still great.
I made my best gains on Madcows 5x5. After the top set for the day on each lift, I did 3-4 back off sets at 85%. I also added in accessory work to each day (look up “Madsix 5x5 and its on the bodybuilding forums).
Everyone responds to training differently and I responded amazingly to Madcows. I also was in a calorie surplus and was getting good rest :)
Very focused video.
@41:34 I’ve been saying “weightlofting” for years now J, knew I should’ve trademarked it
Sorry about your Cardinals.
Hey Jordan. I’m no expert but my understanding is the foremost cardiologists are now in agreement that although high LDL may be linked to cardiovascular disease, by far the bigger risk factors appear to be insulin resistance and a high omega 6 Linoleic acid diet.
D J No, that is absolutely not what current research shows or what leading experts in the field believe- especially the omega 6 bit. Insulin resistance is another risk factor, though this is one mechanism driving high LDL levels.
Stop reading keto blogs
@@Cin9999 LOL xD . The pseudscience is definitely growing
I see Topo Chico is the drink of fancy physicians.
idk how he doesnt start laughing after reading some of these question lol
Poor guy got called too much of a pussy to do steroids.
Probably has heard these questions a million times.
I suggest you look at the recent study by Annals on red meat.
Almost every study stating red meat is bad is an association study that didn’t control for whether the people were in a caloric surplus or other things they were eating.
The only way red meat is bad is because red meat is very calorie dense.
And I suggest you read Barbell Medicine's article on "The Science of Red Meat and Health". Unfortunately there's other stuff in red meat which may be bad for you, not just how calorie dense it is
Jordan I recently just heard
Oops, I recently just heard an expert talking about how an exercise such as the knee extension was more likely to hypertrophic the distal portion of the quads more than exercises such as the squat which was more likely to hypertrophy the proximal portion of a quad muscles. He said that because a muscle fibre does not run the entire length of the muscle belly, that certain fibres could be targeted with different exercises (the leg extension was unique as peak contraction occurs at the top of the movement/ unlike squat variations). Do you think there is any truth to this?
Craig Wilson nope. Would have to see data suggesting that’s reliably true via that mechanism, which appears to be lacking at this time. Short term EMG findings are equivocal on this.
Maybe expert is the incorrect label but he is a researcher at the University of Tampa and has several published papers/research products. I just checked, his name is Chris Barakat.
Craig Wilson sure- I think there is either a miscommunication of what he actually said or misunderstanding somewhere along the lines. While leg extensions can be useful for a bunch of reasons, it’s unlikely to be because it activates the distal quadriceps more.
Shirts are 🤤
Algorithm Gainzzz.
When you think you want a Husky, you just don't realize you really want a Samoyed, which is just a better Husky.
Please don't go on the Joe Rogan show
I hate to support Joe Rogan, but it would be nice to hear how stupid he sounds next to Jordan. Childish I know...
@@flabio7074 same man.
Joe Rogan needs more guests like him
This guy requires corrective lenses
He's wearing two of them, perhaps you need some?
